Thesis (Master)--Izmir Institute of Technology, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Izmir, 2007Includes bibliographical references (leaves: 47-48)Text in English; Abstract: Turkish and Englishix, 48 leavesIn this thesis, analysis of stochastic dynamical systems have been considered in the sense of stochastic differential equations (SDEs). Brownian motion, which can be considered as a first example of stochastic dynamical systems, its derivation and its properties have been investigated, then the analytic and numerical solution methods of SDE have been studied with the examples from the physical world. In order to construct a random variable in a computer environment, random number generation algorithms have also been investigated. Finally a Matlab-Simulink block for numerical solutions of linear SDEs has been newly developed

Effect of maternal ABO blood type on birth weight and preeclampsia

    Get PDF
Background: ABO blood group has been recognized as a risk factor for distinct disease states. The association between ABO blood group and adverse pregnancy outcomes has not been extensively studied, especially in relation to birth weight and preeclampsia (PE). The aim of the present study is to determine whether ABO blood group contributes to the adverse pregnancy outcomes including low birth weight and PE.Methods: Medical data including ABO phenotypes were collected from hospital electronic database and retrospectively reviewed. Adverse pregnancy outcomes included PE and low birth weight. Birth week was also noted for each subject. Results: 2177 charts of mothers who had given birth in our hospital were studied. Overall 605 (27.8%) women had type O blood, 1056 (48.5%) had type A blood, 369 (16.9%) had type B blood and 147 (6.8%) had type AB blood. Pregnant women with type B blood group had significantly lower birth weights compared with type O, A and AB. Birth weeks of all groups were found to be similar with no statistically significant difference. A total of 167 mothers were recorded as having PE. No association was observed between PE and ABO blood groups of study participants. Conclusions: Although maternal ABO phenotype is associated with low birth weight, no association was found between blood type and preeclampsia. We postulate that maternal/fetal immune system genes which are directly associated with ABO blood groups could affect pregnant with a resulting birth weight alterations

Clinical and Electrophysiological Characteristics of Patients with Juvenile Absence Epilepsy in a Turkish Cohort

Juvenile absence epilepsy is an epileptic syndrome that usually begins between the ages of 9-13 and is classified in the group of genetic generalized epilepsies, in which absence seizures are seen mainly but may also be accompanied by motor seizures in the follow-up. In our study, 33 patients who were followed up in our clinic with the diagnosis of juvenile absence epilepsy between 2010-2022 were evaluated retrospectively. Thirteen of them were excluded from the study due to insufficient clinical or electrophysiological knowledge, being diagnosed with another epileptic syndrome during follow-up. The mean age of the 20 patients included in the evaluation was 16.8 years; The mean age of seizure onset was 10.6 years. All patients had absence seizures, which were not seen more often than once a day, 40% had additional generalized tonic-clonic seizures, and 20% had focal electroencephalographic abnormalities in addition to generalized discharges on electroencephalography. Seizures recurred in 3 of 5 patients whose treatment was terminated. It was found that currently 85% of the patients continued treatment with valproic acid and monotherapy was sufficient. While there are generalized discharges at the time of diagnosis electrophysiologically, focal findings tend to occur in the follow-up; This was also found to be important in the evaluation of seizure recurrence and treatment options in patients with long-term follow-up

WOS: 000387700400056PubMed ID: 27324888This study was aimed to evaluate the efficacy of treatment modalities for minimizing salivary gland damage caused by radiotherapy. Forty rats were divided into five groups. Group 1 had no irradiation or any treatment. Group 2 underwent only 15 Gy single dose radiotherapy. N-acetylcysteine, dexamethasone, hyperbaric oxygen treatment were given, respectively to the group 3, 4 and 5 for 5 days. 15 Gy single dose radiotherapy was applied to the group 3, 4 and 5 on the second day. Pyknosis, lysis, and vacuolization were examined in ductal cells and pyknosis, lysis, vacuolization, inflammation and collective duct damage in acinar cells. Dexamethasone and hyperbaric oxygen did not prove to have a positive effect on acinar and ductal cell. N-acetylcysteine-applied group had statistically significantly lower amount of damage. We determined that the decrease of ductal and acinar cell damage in parotid glands of N-acetylcysteine-applied rats was more distinct and statistically

24-tone HTML5 Makam Piano for Turkish Art music

    No full text
Latest HTML5 with JavaScript developments have stimulated a profusion of musical web-applications to emerge on the scene in the past couple of years. Firefox and Chrome browser support for them too has currently reached a comparatively stable level. Yet, these are mainly fashioned to appeal to a Western(ized) audience accustomed to the "12 semitones to the octave" methodology of common-practice music. We, on the other hand, present herein a microtonal HTML5 Piano design for Turkish Art music drawing from the extensively revamped open source code named "JS Dynamic Audio Synth (© 2013)". Two tunings are directly implemented at the moment: The first is the conventional 24-toneArel-Ezgi-Uzdileksystem officially in force across Turkey; the second is a custom tone-system of identical resolution dubbedYarman- 24cand devised by the corresponding author as a substitute. Our design features highlighted hover & play, dynamic perdelabeling, incremental transposition, maximal keystroke constrained polyphonic playback, and custom frequency data paste/apply capabilities. Subsequent implementations by developers might enhance our design with a glissando & vibrato effect, organ sound sustain, external synth patch load, and melody recording. Additionally, a test process to gather online statistics from visitors on their perceived success of how well the tunings render an assortment of well-knownmakam pieces could perhaps be considered in the future. We envision that our24-tone Makam Piano (v1.2)will be quite useful as a music theory web resource and possibly inspire similar upcoming microtonal HTML5 designs.AMS 2020 Subject Classification: 00A65, 97U80, 94A29, 90-1

Estimating probability density functions and entropies of chua's circuit using b-spline functions

n this paper, first the probability density functions (PDFs) of the states of Chua's circuit have been estimated using B-spline functions and then the state entropies of Chua's circuit with respect to the bifurcation parameter have been obtained. The results of the proposed B-spline density estimator have been compared with the results obtained from the Parzen density estimator. © 2012 World Scientific Publishing Company

    No full text
Self-emulsifying systems (SEEDS) are becoming increasingly popular for the preparations of oral dosage forms of low-water soluble drugs. SEEDS are divided into subgroups according to their components; Type IV formulations that are prepared using only surfactants and/or cosurfactants. The aim of the study was to increase the solubility of Tadalafil, a Class II drug according to the BCS, by preparing a Type IV formulation. In the study, Labrasol, Kolliphor PS 20, Kolliphor PS 60, Kolliphor PS 80, Kolliphor CS 12, Kolliphor CS 20, Kolliphor HS 15, Kolliphor EL, Kolliphor ELP, Kolliphor PEG400, Gelucire 44/14 and Gelucire 48/16 were used as surfactants; Transcutol was used as a co-surfactant. The Kolliphor PS 80, Kolliphor EL, Kolliphor HS 15 formulations were prepared with a ratio of 2:1 with Transcutol to form droplet sizes less than 50 nm and PDI values below 0.2. The formulations sensitivity to heat change and pH change was analysed by performing stability tests. Stable formulations of Tadalafil were obtained using the formulations were prepared using Transcutol and Kolliphor PS 80 or Kolliphor EL. Solidification of the optimum Type IV formulations were made using Fluorite, Neusilin US2, Neusilin FL2, Syloid 3050 and Syloid 3150. Dissolution studies of the prepared Solid Type IV formulations were first performed in 0.1 N HCl, and the dissolution profiles were examined by analysing the optimum Solid Type IV (S-Type IV) formulations in pH 4.5 and pH 6.8. It was determined that the S-Type IV prepared with Neusilin US2 and Neusilin UFL2 (2:1) had provided a dissolution of over 80% at the end of the 1st minute. The results indicated the potential bioavailability improvement of S-Type IV for a BCS class II drug, Tadalafil due to great enhancement in its dissolution rate
