Molecular phylogeny of some Cinara species (Hemiptera: Aphidoidae) feeding on cupressaceae species in Turkey
Cinara species feed on conifers of the families Cupressaceae and Pinaceae and it has been shown that host plant plays crucial role on diversity of this genus. Cinara (Cinara) juniperensis, C. (Cupressobium) cupressi and C. (Cupressobium) tujafilina species infesting Juniperus sp., Cupressus sp. and Plathycladus sp., respectively were studied. It is difficult to distinguish these species properly based on morphological identification key due to high amount of morphological similarities. In this study, partial sequences of mitochondrial cytochrome oxidase subunit I (COI) gene were used to identify and to reveal phylogenetic relationships of determined Cinara species. Intraspecific and interspecific distinctions were 0.2% -2.2% and 2.5%-7.8% for three species of Cinara, respectively. The topology of the tree showed closer relationship between C. tujafilina and C. cupressi (95-96 % bootstrap) while C. juniperensis showed lower similarity with them. Phylogenetic tree inferred from both Maximum parsimony and Neighbour joining analyses revealed that C. tujafilina and C. cupressi were monophyletic. Findings revealed the host plant effectiveness in phylogeny of the determined Cinara species
This study has been carried out between 2009 and 2018 in order to determine Cinara species and their host plants distributed in some region of Turkey. Cinara belongs to Eulachnini tribes and Lachninae subfamily, which in the light of the latest molecular studies have turned out to be the basal group for the other aphids. Aphids of the Cinara genus (Hemiptera: Aphidoidea) includes about 200 species in the World and infest lignified parts, branches, trunks, roots and leaves of Pinaceae (especially Pinus, Cedrus, Abies and Picea )and Cupressaceae trees. Cinara species were identified according to the host plants where they colonize. Turkey distribution of this genus unknown exactly because of lack of enough studies on aphids. In the earlier studies, only 23 Cinara species were known from Turkey. As a result of these studies, 29 Cinara species collected on different plant species (Pinus spp., Cedrus spp., Juniperus spp., Cupressus spp., Plathyclaudus spp., Picea spp. and Abies nordmanniana) in the areas and 7 of them are new records for Turkey. The number of Cinara species occurring in Turkey has risen to 30 with these studies. Their world and Turkey distribution, host plants and population density were givenBu çalışma 2009 - 2018 yılları arasında, Türkiye'nin bazı kısımlarında dağılmış Cinara türlerini ve konak bitki türlerini belirlemek amacıyla yapılmıştır.
Aphid-host plant relationship has fascinated scientist for a long time as they had some tight
interactions. There is considerable amount of mountainous land area in Far Eastern Black Sea Region
of Turkey which is almost 27% and about 165 aphid species have been determined. There has been
no study conducted either to detect aphid fauna of region or aphid-host plant interaction up to last
decades. Compared with determined aphid species diversity with floristic richness of region and each
province, number of the aphid species recorded does not reflect real aphid composition of study area.
According to proposed model related with aphid-host plant diversity around the world, both heavy
rainfall and mix of higher vegetation biodiversity especially underbrush plant richness might explain
unexpected lower aphid species diversity compared with higher plant diversity. Recent studies carried
out clearly indicated that aphid-host plant relations should be studied in detail as these relations are
become much more dynamic as a result of recent climatic changes.Kendi aralarında sıkı etkileşime sahip olan afit-konak bitki ilişkileri biliminsanlarını uzun süreden beri
etkilemektedir.
Morphometric analysis of Cinara cedri (Hemiptera: Aphidoidea: Lachninae) from different parts of Turkey
açıklanmıştırCinara (Aphidoidea: Lachninae), which is in the Aphididae family and has the highest number of
species, feed on members of the Pinaceae and Coniferaceae families. Cinara (Cinara) cedri Mimeur,
1936 species can feed on different hosts and consists of morphologically similar species. They differ
from each other based on to small morphological differences according to the diagnostic keys.
Therefore, their taxonomic situation is complex. In this study, individuals belonging to the Cinara cedri
species, which distributed in Afyonkarahisar, Kütahya, Uşak and Niğde Provinces, were sampled from
the field, diagnosed with completed morphometric measurements and 9 morphological characters
(AntIV, AntVI, HTIBD, RIV, RV, SPHBD, ANT6Tüy, HTII and ANTIII). ) and the ratio of two morphological
characters (ANTIV / VI), morphometric analyzes were made with the SPSS program. As a result of this
study, it was observed that the characters that differ most in the distinction of these species on cedar
wood are BL, PT, URS, HTI and HTB. As a result of the statistical analysis of the C. cedrispecies sampled
from cedar, the difference in the size of the segments of ANT6 Feather, ANT4, Ant4 / 6, ANT6, HTII,
RIV, RV and ANTIII and the group averages of the morphometric characters of individuals sampled
from Uşak is different from those of the other three localities. This may indicate that the locality may
make a difference in the morphological structure of the species. The effect of locality on the
morphological characters of this breed was explained statistically
Determined Aphid and Ant Associations from Trabzon, Rize and Artvin Provinces of the Turkey
Aphids and ant species are both diverse and extremely succesful groups of insects and often share the same habitats and therefore both have many oportunities to interact with each other. It has been shown that aphid-ant relationships have been shaped by various factors particularly aphid host plant’s physological features, honeydew composition, feeding position and so on. Despite there are more than 500 aphid species and about 315 ant taxon in Turkey, there are very few studies conducted on their mutual relationship. This study was carried out in the Trabzon, Rize and Artvin provinces of Turkey. As a result of the evaluation of samples, it was determined that 48 aphid species associated with 15 ant species. The most encountered ant species, which interacted with different number of aphid species, were Formica cinereofusca Karawaiew, 1929, Lasius turcicus Santschi, 1921 and Lasius emarginatus (Olivier, 1792). Among determined aphid species Aphis fabae Scopoli, 1763 had the highest ant attraction and then Brachycaudus cardui (Linnaeus, 1758), Aphis gossypii Glover, 1877, Aphis spiraecola Patch, 1914, Cinara pilicornis (Hartig, 1841) and Toxoptera aurantii Boyer de Fonscolombe, 1841 respectively. Determined aphid-ant associations are shaped by both ecological conditions of the study area, composition of aphid and ant populations and it was shown that there is no new aphid-ant species association. Findings of the presented study indicated that much more detailed study should be conducted to investigate aphid-ant mutualistic associations in Turkey
New Records for the Aphid Fauna (Hemiptera: Aphidoidea) of Turkey

New Additions and Invasive Aphids for Turkey’s Aphidofauna (Hemiptera: Aphidoidea)
This study was carried out in order to determine aphid species in the Inner Western Anatolian Subregion of Turkey. Nineteen aphid species are reported as new to the Turkish aphid fauna. These species are Aphis eryngiiglomerata Bozhko, 1963; Aphis glareosae Bozhko, 1959; Capitophorus eniwanus Miyazaki, 1971; Chaitophorus indicus A.K. Ghosh, M.R. Ghosh & D.N. Raychaudhuri, 1970; Chaitophorus ramicola (Börner, 1949); Cinara indica Verma, 1970; Cinara juniperensis (Gillette & Palmer, 1925); Cinara oxycedri Binazzi, 1996; Cinara setosa (Börner, 1950); Eulachnus thunbergii Wilson, 1919; Hyadaphis passerinii (Del Guercio, 1911); Mindarus kinseyi Voegtlin, 1995; Myzus padellus Hille Ris Lambers & Rogerson, 1946; Phylloxera quercina (Ferrari, 1872); Rhopalosiphum rufulum Richards, 1960; Schizaphis dubia Huculak, 1968; Schizolachnus orientalis (Takahashi, 1924); Tiliaphis shinjii Higuchi, 1972; and Tuberculatus borealis (Krzywiec, 1971). Among these, 5 species are invasive to the Turkish aphidofauna. It is not surprising that new records and invasive species would be added to the Turkish aphid fauna due to Turkey’s special floristic composition and various geographical and climatic features
