Selection of Ontologies for the Semantic Web
The development of the Semantic Web has encouraged the creation of ontologies in a great variety of domains. Web users currently looking for ontologies in order to incorporate them into their systems, just use their experience and intuition. This makes it difficult for them to justify their choices. Mainly, this is due to the lack of methods that help the user to measure that the most appropriate ontologies for the new system are. To solve this deficiency, this work proposes a method which allows the users to measure the suitability of the existent ontologies, regarding the requirements of their systems
LabelTranslator: A Tool to Automatically Localize an Ontology
This demo proposal briefly presents LabelTranslator, a system that suggests translations of ontology labels, with the purpose of localizing ontologies. LabelTranslator takes as input an ontology whose labels are described in a source natural language and obtains the most probable translation of each ontology label into a target natural language.Our main contribution is the automatization of this process, which reduces human efforts to localize manually the ontology
On a possible origin for the lack of old star clusters in the Small Magellanic Cloud
We model the dynamical interaction between the Small and Large Magellanic
Clouds and their corresponding stellar cluster populations. Our goal is to
explore whether the lack of old clusters ( Gyr) in the Small
Magellanic Cloud (SMC) can be the result of the capture of clusters by the
Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC), as well as their ejection due to the tidal
interaction between the two galaxies. For this purpose we perform a suite of
numerical simulations probing a wide range of parameters for the orbit of the
SMC about the LMC. We find that, for orbital eccentricities ,
approximately 15 per cent of the SMC clusters are captured by the LMC. In
addition, another 20 to 50 per cent of its clusters are ejected into the
intergalactic medium. In general, the clusters lost by the SMC are the less
tightly bound cluster population. The final LMC cluster distribution shows a
spatial segregation between clusters that originally belonged to the LMC and
those that were captured from the SMC. Clusters that originally belonged to the
SMC are more likely to be found in the outskirts of the LMC. Within this
scenario it is possible to interpret the difference observed between the star

Thermal van der Waals Interaction between Graphene Layers
The van de Waals interaction between two graphene sheets is studied at finite
temperatures. Graphene's thermal length controls
the force versus distance as a crossover from the zero temperature
results for , to a linear-in-temperature, universal regime for
. The large separation regime is shown to be a consequence of the
classical behavior of graphene's plasmons at finite temperature. Retardation
effects are largely irrelevant, both in the zero and finite temperature
regimes. Thermal effects should be noticeable in the van de Waals interaction
