The self-dual gauge fields and the domain wall fermion zero modes
A new type of gauge fixing of the Coulomb gauge domain wall fermion system
that reduces the fluctuation of the effective running coupling and the
effective mass of arbitrary momentum direction including the region outside the
cylinder cut region is proposed and tested in the
gauge configurations of RBC/UKQCD collaboration.
The running coupling at the lowest momentum point does not show infrared
suppression and compatible with the experimental data extracted from the JLab
collaboration. The source of the fluctuation of the effective mass near
momentum 0.6GeV region is expected to be due to the domain wall fermion
zero modes.Comment: 12 pages 2 figures, extended arguments and references adde
Numerical Study of the Ghost-Gluon Vertex in Landau gauge
We present a numerical study of the ghost-gluon vertex and of the
corresponding renormalization function \widetilde{Z}_1(p^2) in minimal Landau
gauge for SU(2) lattice gauge theory. Data were obtained for three different
lattice volumes (V = 4^4, 8^4, 16^4) and for three lattice couplings \beta =
2.2, 2.3, 2.4. Gribov-copy effects have been analyzed using the so-called
smeared gauge fixing. We also consider two different sets of momenta (orbits)
in order to check for possible effects due to the breaking of rotational
symmetry. The vertex has been evaluated at the asymmetric point (0;p,-p) in
momentum-subtraction scheme. We find that \widetilde{Z}_1(p^2) is approximately
constant and equal to 1, at least for momenta p > ~ 1 GeV. This constitutes a
nonperturbative verification of the so-called nonrenormalization of the Landau
ghost-gluon vertex. Finally, we use our data to evaluate the running coupling
constant \alpha_s(p^2).Comment: 19 pages, 6 figures, 9 tables, using axodraw.sty; minor modifications

Extractive Chinese Spoken Document Summarization Using Probabilistic Ranking Models
Abstract. The purpose of extractive summarization is to automatically select indicative sentences, passages, or paragraphs from an original document according to a certain target summarization ratio, and then sequence them to form a concise summary. In this paper, in contrast to conventional approaches, our objective is to deal with the extractive summarization problem under a probabilistic modeling framework. We investigate the use of the hidden Markov model (HMM) for spoken document summarization, in which each sentence of a spoken document is treated as an HMM for generating the document, and the sentences are ranked and selected according to their likelihoods. In addition, the relevance model (RM) of each sentence, estimated from a contemporary text collection, is integrated with the HMM model to improve the representation of the sentence model. The experiments were performed on Chinese broadcast news compiled in Taiwan. The proposed approach achieves noticeable performance gains over conventional summarization approaches
The flavor symmetry in the standard model and the triality symmetry
A Dirac fermion is expressed by a 4 component spinor which is a combination
of two quaternions and which can be treated as an octonion. The octonion
possesses the triality symmetry, which defines symmetry of fermion spinors and
bosonic vector fields.
The triality symmetry relates three sets of spinors and two sets of vectors,
which are transformed among themselves via transformations , and . If the electromagnetic (EM) interaction is
sensitive to the triality symmetry, i.e. EM probe selects one triality sector,
EM signals from the 5 transformed world would not be detected, and be treated
as the dark matter. According to an astrophysical measurement, the ratio of the
dark to ordinary matter in the universe as a whole is almost exactly 5. We
expect quarks are insensitive to the triality, and triality will appear as
three times larger flavor degrees of freedom in the lattice simulation.Comment: 16 pages 8 figures, To be published in International Journal of

A Study of Degenerate Four-quark states in SU(2) Lattice Monte Carlo
The energies of four-quark states are calculated for geometries in which the
quarks are situated on the corners of a series of tetrahedra and also for
geometries that correspond to gradually distorting these tetrahedra into a
plane. The interest in tetrahedra arises because they are composed of {\bf
three } degenerate partitions of the four quarks into two two-quark colour
singlets. This is an extension of earlier work showing that geometries with
{\bf two} degenerate partitions (e.g.\ squares) experience a large binding
energy. It is now found that even larger binding energies do not result, but
that for the tetrahedra the ground and first excited states become degenerate
in energy. The calculation is carried out using SU(2) for static quarks in the
quenched approximation with on a lattice. The
results are analysed using the correlation matrix between different euclidean
times and the implications of these results are discussed for a model based on
two-quark potentials.Comment: Original Raw PS file replace by a tarred, compressed and uuencoded PS

Renormalizability of a quark-gluon model with soft BRST breaking in the infrared region
We prove the renormalizability of a quark-gluon model with a soft breaking of
the BRST symmetry, which accounts for the modification of the large distance
behavior of the quark and gluon correlation functions. The proof is valid to
all orders of perturbation theory, by making use of softly broken Ward
identities.Comment: 20 pages, no figures. Preprint number added in v2
Class-Discriminative Weighted Distortion Measure for VQ-based Speaker Identification
We consider the distortion measure in vector quantization based speaker identification system. The model of a speaker is a codebook generated from the set of feature vectors from the speakers voice sample. The matching is performed by evaluating the distortions between the unknown speech sample and the models in the speaker database. In this paper, we introduce a weighted distortion measure that takes into account the correlations between the known models in the database. Larger weights are assigned to vectors that have high discriminating power between the speakers and vice versa
The Gribov-Zwanziger action in the presence of the gauge invariant, nonlocal mass operator in the Landau gauge
We prove that the nonlocal gauge invariant mass dimension two operator
can be consistently added to the
Gribov-Zwanziger action, which implements the restriction of the path
integral's domain of integration to the first Gribov region when the Landau
gauge is considered. We identify a local polynomial action and prove the
renormalizability to all orders of perturbation theory by employing the
algebraic renormalization formalism. Furthermore, we also pay attention to the
breaking of the BRST invariance, and to the consequences that this has for the
Slavnov-Taylor identity.Comment: 30 page
Infrared Features of the Landau Gauge QCD
The infrared features of Landau gauge QCD are studied by the lattice
simulation of and . We
adopt two definitions of the gauge field; 1) linear 2) and
measured the gluon propagator and ghost propagator. Infrared singularity of the
gluon propagator is less than that of tree level result but the gluon
propagator at 0 momentum remains finite. The infrared singularity of ghost
propagator is stronger than the tree level. The QCD running coupling measured
by using the gluon propagator and the ghost propagator has a maximum
at around and decreases as approaches 0.
The data are analyzed in use of formula of the principle of minimal
sensitivity(PMS), the effective charge method and the contour-improved
perturbation method, which suggest necessity of the resummation of perturbation
series in the infrared region together with existence of the infrared fixed
point. Kugo-Ojima parameter saturates at about -0.8 in contrast to the
theoretically expected value -1.Comment: RevTex4, 9 pages, 10 eps figures, Typos corrected. To be published in

Effects of Symmetry Breaking on the Strong and Electroweak Interactions of the Vector Nonet
Starting from a chiral invariant and quark line rule conserving Lagrangian of
pseudoscalar and vector nonets we introduce first and second order symmetry
breaking as well as quark line rule violating terms and fit the parameters, at
tree level, to many strong and electroweak processes. A number of predictions
are made. The electroweak interactions are included in a manifestly gauge
invariant manner. The resulting symmetry breaking pattern is discussed in
detail. Specifically, for the ``strong'' interactions, we study all the vector
meson masses and V -> \phi \phi decays, including isotopic spin violations. In
the electroweak sector we study the { rho^0 , omega , phi } -> e^+e^- decays, {
pi^+ , K^+ , K^0 } ``charge radii'', K_{l3} ``slope factor'' and the overall
e^+e^- -> pi^+ pi^- process. It is hoped that the resulting model may be useful
as a reasonable description of low energy physics in the range up to about 1
GeV.Comment: 43 pages (LaTeX), 5 PostScript figures are included as
