Autonomous maitenance (AM) in the aspect of improvement work safety in the steel sector in Poland

    Get PDF
Autonomous maintenance is one of the important solutions used in industrial companies where part of the tasks related to the operation of machines is transferred to operators. In the steel sector in Poland, accidents related to the operation of technological machines are still reported. Given the above, this article lists the activities of machine operators in terms of methods and tools that allow for a reduction of the number of accidents at work. It aims to show the significance of the adoption of technical and organizational solutions directed at improving the safety of operators within AM in the steel sector in Poland

Application of selected lean manufacturing (LM) tools for the improvement of work safety in the steel industry

This article presents the possibilities of the application of Lean Manufacturing (LM) tools for the improvement of occupational safety and health. The issue of work safety in the steel industry is of particular relevance for the management of steelworks due to the number of recorded accidents at work. Given the above, the most common causes of accidents at work in the steel industry in Poland in 2009-2019 were listed. Their analysis made it possible to propose a possibility to implement solutions provided for within the Lean Manufacturing concept. This article aims to consider the possibility of adapting LM tools in order to address the causes of accidents at work and improve work safety in enterprises in the metallurgical sector

The use of lean manufacturing (LM) tools in the field of production organization in the metallurgical industry

    Get PDF
This article presents the possibility of using Lean Manufacturing (LM) tools for the identification of waste occurring in individual areas of the production activity of steelworks in Poland. The issue of waste reduction and improvement of the organization of production contributes substantially to cost reduction and effective implementation of production tasks. This study identifies waste, and then presents the process of its reduction based on the available methods and tools of the LM concept. Given the above, the aim of this study is to assess the possibility of adapting LM tools in the steel industry in the context of waste reduction and improvement of the organization of production

One loop renormalization for the axial Ward-Takahashi identity in Domain-wall QCD

    Get PDF
We calculate one-loop correction to the axial Ward-Takahashi identity given by Furman and Shamir in domain-wall QCD. It is shown perturbatively that the renormalized axial Ward-Takahashi identity is satisfied without fine tuning and the ``conserved'' axial current receives no renormalization, giving ZA=1Z_A=1. This fact will simplify the calculation of the pion decay constant in numerical simulations since the decay constant defined by this current needs no lattice renormalization factor.Comment: 16 pages, 3 axodraw.sty figure

Dynamical lattice QCD thermodynamics with domain wall fermions

    Get PDF
We present results from simulations of two flavor QCD thermodynamics at N_t=4 with domain wall fermions. In contrast to other lattice fermion formulations, domain wall fermions preserve the full chiral symmetry of the continuum at finite lattice spacing (up to terms exponentially small in an extra parameter). Just above the phase transition, we find that the axial U(1) symmetry is broken only by a small amount. We discuss an ongoing calculation to determine the order and properties of the phase transition using domain wall fermions, since the global symmetries of the theory are expected to be important here.Comment: 4 pages, 4 eps figures, LaTeX. End states, ladder compounds, and domain wall fermions

A magnetic field applied to a cross linked ladder compound can generate isolated electronic states bound to the ends of the chain. After exploring the interference phenomena responsible, I discuss a connection to the domain wall approach to chiral fermions in lattice gauge theory. The robust nature of the states under small variations of the bond strengths is tied to chiral symmetry and the multiplicative renormalization of fermion masses.Comment: 10 pages, 4 figures; final version for Phys. A study of chiral symmetry in quenched QCD using the Overlap-Dirac operator

    Get PDF
We compute fermionic observables relevant to the study of chiral symmetry in quenched QCD using the Overlap-Dirac operator for a wide range of the fermion mass. We use analytical results to disentangle the contribution from exact zero modes and simplify our numerical computations. Details concerning the numerical implementation of the Overlap-Dirac operator are presented.Comment: 24 pages revtex with 5 postscript figures included by eps
