Microwave-induced resistance oscillations in a back-gated GaAs quantum well
We performed effective mass measurements employing microwave-induced
resistance oscillation in a tunable-density GaAs/AlGaAs quantum well. Our main
result is a clear observation of an effective mass increase with decreasing
density, in general agreement with earlier studies which investigated the
density dependence of the effective mass employing Shubnikov- de Haas
oscillations. This finding provides further evidence that microwave-induced
resistance oscillations are sensitive to electron-electron interactions and
offer a convenient and accurate way to obtain the effective mass.Comment: 4 pages, 4 figure
SU(5) Heterotic Standard Model Bundles
We construct a class of stable SU(5) bundles on an elliptically fibered
Calabi-Yau threefold with two sections, a variant of the ordinary Weierstrass
fibration, which admits a free involution. The bundles are invariant under the
involution, solve the topological constraint imposed by the heterotic anomaly
equation and give three generations of Standard Model fermions after symmetry
breaking by Wilson lines of the intermediate SU(5) GUT-group to the Standard
Model gauge group. Among the solutions we find some which can be perturbed to
solutions of the Strominger system. Thus these solutions provide a step toward
the construction of phenomenologically realistic heterotic flux
compactifications via non-Kahler deformations of Calabi-Yau geometries with
bundles. This particular class of solutions involves a rank two hidden sector
bundle and does not require background fivebranes for anomaly cancellation.Comment: 17 page
On QGP Formation in pp Collisions at 7 TeV
The possibility of QGP formation in central pp collisions at ultra-high
collision energy is discussed. Centrality-dependent \pt-spectra and
(pseudo)rapidity spectra of thermal photons (charged hadrons) from pp
collisions at 7 TeV are presented (addressed). Minimal-bias \pt-spectrum of
direct photons and charged hadrons is compared under the framework with and

Effects of tai chi on postural control during dual-task stair negotiation in knee osteoarthritis : a randomised controlled trial protocol
Stair ascent and descent require complex integration between sensory and motor systems; individuals with knee osteoarthritis (KOA) have an elevated risk for falls and fall injuries, which may be in part due to poor dynamic postural control during locomotion. Tai chi exercise has been shown to reduce fall risks in the ageing population and is recommended as one of the non-pharmocological therapies for people with KOA. However, neuromuscular mechanisms underlying the benefits of tai chi for persons with KOA are not clearly understood. Postural control deficits in performing a primary motor task may be more pronounced when required to simultaneously attend to a cognitive task. This single-blind, parallel design randomised controlled trial (RCT) aims to evaluate the effects of a 12-week tai chi programme versus balance and postural control training on neuromechanical characteristics during dual-task stair negotiation. Sixty-six participants with KOA will be randomised into either tai chi or balance and postural control training, each at 60 min per session, twice weekly for 12 weeks. Assessed at baseline and 12 weeks (ie, postintervention), the primary outcomes are attention cost and dynamic postural stability during dual-task stair negotiation. Secondary outcomes include balance and proprioception, foot clearances, self-reported symptoms and function. A telephone follow-up to assess symptoms and function will be conducted at 20 weeks. The findings will help determine whether tai chi is beneficial on dynamic stability and in reducing fall risks in older adults with KOA patients in community. Ethics approval was obtained from the Ethics Committee of the Affiliated Rehabilitation Hospital of Fujian University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (#2018KY-006-1). Specifying and Verifying Concurrent Algorithms with Histories and Subjectivity
We present a lightweight approach to Hoare-style specifications for
fine-grained concurrency, based on a notion of time-stamped histories that
abstractly capture atomic changes in the program state. Our key observation is
that histories form a partial commutative monoid, a structure fundamental for
representation of concurrent resources. This insight provides us with a
unifying mechanism that allows us to treat histories just like heaps in
separation logic. For example, both are subject to the same assertion logic and
inference rules (e.g., the frame rule). Moreover, the notion of ownership
transfer, which usually applies to heaps, has an equivalent in histories. It
can be used to formally represent helping---an important design pattern for
concurrent algorithms whereby one thread can execute code on behalf of another.
Specifications in terms of histories naturally abstract granularity, in the
sense that sophisticated fine-grained algorithms can be given the same
specifications as their simplified coarse-grained counterparts, making them
equally convenient for client-side reasoning. We illustrate our approach on a

Analysis and Verification of Service Interaction Protocols - A Brief Survey
Modeling and analysis of interactions among services is a crucial issue in
Service-Oriented Computing. Composing Web services is a complicated task which
requires techniques and tools to verify that the new system will behave
correctly. In this paper, we first overview some formal models proposed in the
literature to describe services. Second, we give a brief survey of verification
techniques that can be used to analyse services and their interaction. Last, we

Entanglement Degree of Parasupersymmetric Coherent States of Harmonic Oscillator
We study the boson-parafermion entanglement of the parasupersymmetric
coherent states of the harmonic oscillator and derive the degree of
entanglement in terms of the concurrence. The conditions for obtaining the
maximal entanglement is also examined, and it is shown that in the usual
