This study examined the influence of personalized pop-up advertising and ad placement on ad effects. Moreover, the moderator of product involvement on the influence of personalized pop-up ads was investigated. A 2 (ad type: personalized pop-up vs. non-personalized pop-up ad) × 2 (ad placement: initial webpage vs. middle webpage) experiment was conducted to examine how personalized pop-up advertising impacts ad attitude and recall, and how it interacts with different degrees of product involvement. Total valid experimental data derived from 296 participants showed that (1) Personalized pop-up ads were better than non- personalized pop-up ads in terms of ad attitude and ad recall; (2) There was no significant difference in ad attitude and ad recall of the personalized and non-personalized pop-up ads on the initial or the middle webpage. However, the influence of personalized pop-up ads on ad attitude but not on ad recall was significant for different types of webpage involvement; (3) Contrary to the hypothesis, the personalized ad had a significant effect on ad attitude when individuals had high rather than low product involvement. However, there was no significant difference in ad recall in either the low or high product involvement conditions

    Get PDF
Within the IoT scope, a new application named ‘object hyperlinking’ has evolved. Object hyperlinking is the pervasive presence of different things or objects identified by tags, sensors, and mobile phones that can interact with each other as well as with their neighbors through unique addressing schemes for business purpose. Enabled by Automatic Identification and Data Capture (AIDC) technologies such as QR code and NFC, object hyperlinking services make it possible link any object or location to a more comprehensive and editable information. While tagging technologies have good prospects to offer more opportunities in a company’s interaction with its consumers, how this capability can be best applied and what innovative business services be created with object hyperlinking remain to be discovered. This study surveys and examines 76 projects of object hyperlinking in Taiwan and provides a framework to figure out business value and issues of object hyperlinking along the five stages of a consumer buying decision process. Based on the functionality and purpose of object hyperlinking services, this framework is conducted in dimensions of value creation, value orientation, functionality, key factor and challenges, key activities within organization, and managerial issues concerned. Some innovative business models enabled by object hyperlinking will also be introduced. The research results found that only when the information gathered by identified objects is used, analyzed, and distributed into wide business activities in term of marketing, customer service and firm level strategy planning, the effectiveness and value of object hyperlinking services can be realized at its maximum. The integration across different consumer buying decision process is also important. The more applications of object hyperlinking in different buying decisions, the more benefits will be created for customers. Managers can use the list of dimensions proposed in the framework to develop rich IoT business from enhancing service operations with object hyperlinking

Factors Influence Information and Knowledge Sharing in Organization

    Get PDF
In today\u27s business environment, competitive advantage increasingly requires the open sharing of knowledge by organizational members [22]. Although the practitioners place emphasis on the importance of knowledge sharing, empirical researches on knowledge sharing are still limited, and little research has been done to understand the factors that influence knowledge sharing in organizations. This study investigates cultural and interpersonal factors that influence an individual’s propensity to share information and knowledge that he or she has created. Three different situations of sharing (information product, self-developed knowledge and organization-developed knowledge) were considered. The study found that organization culture influenced individual’s beliefs of organization trust and psychological safety, and those who perceived higher trust and psychological safety seemed more likely to share information and knowledge with others

Quantitative determination of interlayer electronic coupling at various critical points in bilayer Mo S 2

    Get PDF
Tailoring interlayer coupling has emerged as a powerful tool to tune the electronic structure of van der Waals (vdW) bilayers. One example is the usage of the “moirĂ© pattern” to create controllable two-dimensional electronic superlattices through the configurational dependence of interlayer electronic couplings. This approach has led to some remarkable discoveries in twisted graphene bilayers, and transition metal dichalcogenide (TMD) homo- and hetero-bilayers. However, a largely unexplored factor is the interlayer distance, d, which can impact the interlayer coupling strength exponentially. In this letter, we quantitatively 2 determine the coupling strengths as a function of interlayer spacing at various critical points of the Brillouin zone in bilayer MoS2. The exponential dependence of the coupling parameter on the gap distance is demonstrated. Most significantly, we achieved a 280% enhancement of K-valley coupling strength with an 8% reduction of the vdW gap, pointing to a new strategy in designing a novel electronic system in vdW bilayers. gning a unique electronic system in vdW bilayers. This research was primarily supported by the NSF Materials Research Science and Engineering Centers (MRSEC) under DMR-1720595. Women with endometriosis have higher comorbidities: Analysis of domestic data in Taiwan

    Get PDF
AbstractEndometriosis, defined by the presence of viable extrauterine endometrial glands and stroma, can grow or bleed cyclically, and possesses characteristics including a destructive, invasive, and metastatic nature. Since endometriosis may result in pelvic inflammation, adhesion, chronic pain, and infertility, and can progress to biologically malignant tumors, it is a long-term major health issue in women of reproductive age. In this review, we analyze the Taiwan domestic research addressing associations between endometriosis and other diseases. Concerning malignant tumors, we identified four studies on the links between endometriosis and ovarian cancer, one on breast cancer, two on endometrial cancer, one on colorectal cancer, and one on other malignancies, as well as one on associations between endometriosis and irritable bowel syndrome, one on links with migraine headache, three on links with pelvic inflammatory diseases, four on links with infertility, four on links with obesity, four on links with chronic liver disease, four on links with rheumatoid arthritis, four on links with chronic renal disease, five on links with diabetes mellitus, and five on links with cardiovascular diseases (hypertension, hyperlipidemia, etc.). The data available to date support that women with endometriosis might be at risk of some chronic illnesses and certain malignancies, although we consider the evidence for some comorbidities to be of low quality, for example, the association between colon cancer and adenomyosis/endometriosis. We still believe that the risk of comorbidity might be higher in women with endometriosis than that we supposed before. More research is needed to determine whether women with endometriosis are really at risk of these comorbidities

Customer Intentions towards Co-creation in the Online Environments

    No full text
This study was performed to understand the customers\u27 motivation to voluntarily engage in value co-creation behaviors from the perspective of psychological ownership and customer engagement. An online survey on eight leading smart phone FB fan pages was employed to test the hypotheses derived from the research model. Results indicated that customers with high psychological ownership of brand tend to voluntarily provide feedback, become advocates for the product among their peers, and help other customers. At the same time, highly-engaged customers are likely to disseminate positive information and recommend product to their friends, assist other customers to solve problems, and remain patient under service failures. In addition, feelings of psychological ownership and customer engagement are enhanced by customers’ self-concept and self-investment. We draw on these findings to offer implications for researchers and practitioners

To investigate the clinicopathological features and treatment outcomes in patients with stage I, high-risk endometrial cancer. Patients with International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics stage I, papillary serous, clear cell, or grade 3 endometrioid carcinoma treated between 2000 and 2012 were analyzed for the clinical and pathological factors in relation to prognosis. A total of 267 patients (stage IA; n = 175, stage IB; n = 92) were included. Among the clinicopathological features, stage and age were significant prognostic factors. The recurrence rate and overall survival for stage IB versus IA were 22.8% versus 9.1% (p = 0.003) and 149.7 months versus 201.8 months (p < 0.001), respectively. The patients >60 years of age also had a higher recurrence rate (21.7% versus 9.7%, p = 0.008) and poorer survival (102.0 months versus 196.8 months, p = 0.001) than those ≤60 years of age. Distant recurrence (64.9%) occurred more frequently than local recurrence (24.3%) and local combined with distant recurrence (10.8%) (p < 0.001). The postoperative treatment modality had no impact on tumor recurrence rate, recurrence site, or overall survival. Distant recurrence is a major cause of treatment failure in patients with stage I, high-risk endometrial cancer. However, current adjuvant treatment appeared to have little effect in preventing its occurrence

Characterization of an Insecticidal Toxin and Pathogenicity of <i>Pseudomonas taiwanensis</i> against Insects

    No full text
<div><p><i>Pseudomonas taiwanensis</i> is a broad-host-range entomopathogenic bacterium that exhibits insecticidal activity toward agricultural pests <i>Plutella xylostella</i>, <i>Spodoptera exigua</i>, <i>Spodoptera litura</i>, <i>Trichoplusia ni</i> and <i>Drosophila melanogaster</i>. Oral infection with different concentrations (OD = 0.5 to 2) of wild-type <i>P. taiwanensis</i> resulted in insect mortality rates that were not significantly different (92.7%, 96.4% and 94.5%). The TccC protein, a component of the toxin complex (Tc), plays an essential role in the insecticidal activity of <i>P. taiwanensis</i>. The Δ<i>tccC</i> mutant strain of <i>P. taiwanensis</i>, which has a knockout mutation in the <i>tccC</i> gene, only induced 42.2% mortality in <i>P. xylostella</i>, even at a high bacterial dose (OD = 2.0). TccC protein was cleaved into two fragments, an N-terminal fragment containing an Rhs-like domain and a C-terminal fragment containing a Glt symporter domain and a TraT domain, which might contribute to antioxidative stress activity and defense against macrophagosis, respectively. Interestingly, the primary structure of the C-terminal region of TccC in <i>P. taiwanensis</i> is unique among pathogens. Membrane localization of the C-terminal fragment of TccC was proven by flow cytometry. Sonicated pellets of <i>P. taiwanensis</i> Δ<i>tccC</i> strain had lower toxicity against the Sf9 insect cell line and <i>P. xylostella</i> larvae than the wild type. We also found that infection of Sf9 and LD652Y-5d cell lines with <i>P. taiwanensis</i> induced apoptotic cell death. Further, natural oral infection by <i>P. taiwanensis</i> triggered expression of host programmed cell death-related genes JNK-2 and caspase-3.</p></div
