Un corps évolutif : les inspecteurs de la santé publique vétérinaire

    Get PDF

Thermochemistry of iron manganese oxide spinels

    Get PDF
Oxide melt solution calorimetry has been performed on iron manganese oxide spinels prepared at high temperature. The enthalpy of formation of (MnxFe1−x)3O4 at 298 K from the oxides, tetragonal Mn3O4 (hausmannite) and cubic Fe3O4 (magnetite), is negative from x=0 to x=0.67 and becomes slightly positive for 0.670.6) spinels of intermediate compositions. The enthalpies of formation are discussed in terms of three factors: oxidation–reduction relative to the end-members, cation distribution, and tetragonality. A combination of measured enthalpies and Gibbs free energies of formation in the literature provides entropies of mixing. ΔSmix, consistent with a cation distribution in which all trivalent manganese is octahedral and all other ions are randomly distributed for x>0.5, but the entropy of mixing appears to be smaller than these predicted values for x<0.4

Max Weber developed his method of the ideal type construct while elaborating his theory on the religious refusal of the world. In so doing, he illustrates some of the fundamental themes of his epistemology. A structuralist reading of this text, or even an interactionist one, would certainly provide an opportunity for examining the concept of the knowledge value oflearning pertaining to “the general rules of experience” used by Max Weber to formulate his interpretations. But within this “theoretical parenthesis”, Max Weber systematically developed a global theory whose essential concepts are based on the tensions between spheres of activity, each having its own internal logic, and also concerned with the rîle of imperceptible changes and “moments” of equilibrium. Wouldn’t Max Weber’s modernity thus be related to this attention paid to continuous changes in the social reality

Post-translational modifications of histones H3 and H4 associated with the histone methyltransferases Suv39h1 and G9a

Mass spectrometry analysis of the post-transcriptional modifications of histones H3 and H4 that were co-purified with histone methyltransferases Suv39h1 and G9a shows that, in HeLa cells, histone methyltransferases can be physically associated with acetylated histones, which normally mark transcriptionally active chromatin

IS BALL-RACKET CONTACT CONCOMITANT WITH THE MAXIMAL RACKET SPEED IN YOUNG TRAINED TABLE TENNIS PLAYERS?

    Get PDF
Previous table tennis studies have broadly assumed the racket to reach its maximal speed at ball-racket impact but only few identified this instant experimentally. Hence, there remains a lack of information regarding the validity of this hypothesis and therefore a need to develop a strategy to identify ball-racket contact that can be implemented into future experimentations. A 3D motion capture system was used to measure racket movements of seven young talents (12.6 ± 0.8 years old) -a category that had not been tested yet- during topspin forehand and backhand drives. Ball-racket impacts were identified with a synchronized microphone. Maximal racket speed and sound peak occurrences were compared, and racket parameters (speed, orientation) were calculated at both events. Differences emerged when examining participants individually for forehand drives and over the whole cohort for backhand drives, with consequences on both racket orientation and speed between the two events. As it was shown that ball-racket contact is not always concomitant with the maximal racket speed, futures studies should add supplementary equipment such as a synchronized microphone to identify the exact impact time

Integrated IP communication solutions for public safety services

In a crisis communication and access to data and information, is critical for public safety services. Several EU projects tackle this topic. In this workshop, results from the u-2010 and HNPS projects will be presented and discussed. The u-2010 project’s objective was to provide the most capable means of communication to everybody required to act in case of accident, catastrophe or crisis, as well as the most The International Emergency Management Society 17 th Annual Conference (TIEMS2010), Beijing (China), June 8-12 2010 effective access to that information,. The project aimed to use any existing or (future) planned communication infrastructure to do this. The HNPS project’s purpose is to design and implement interaction capacities for important public safety applications. These may be at a technical level (interaction between different radio technologies or different video applications) or at a functional level (the collaboration between different agencies)

The Core Binding Factor CBF Negatively Regulates Skeletal Muscle Terminal Differentiation

    Get PDF
BACKGROUND: Core Binding Factor or CBF is a transcription factor composed of two subunits, Runx1/AML-1 and CBF beta or CBFbeta. CBF was originally described as a regulator of hematopoiesis. METHODOLOGY/PRINCIPAL FINDINGS: Here we show that CBF is involved in the control of skeletal muscle terminal differentiation. Indeed, downregulation of either Runx1 or CBFbeta protein level accelerates cell cycle exit and muscle terminal differentiation. Conversely, overexpression of CBFbeta in myoblasts slows terminal differentiation. CBF interacts directly with the master myogenic transcription factor MyoD, preferentially in proliferating myoblasts, via Runx1 subunit. In addition, we show a preferential recruitment of Runx1 protein to MyoD target genes in proliferating myoblasts. The MyoD/CBF complex contains several chromatin modifying enzymes that inhibits MyoD activity, such as HDACs, Suv39h1 and HP1beta. When overexpressed, CBFbeta induced an inhibition of activating histone modification marks concomitant with an increase in repressive modifications at MyoD target promoters. CONCLUSIONS/SIGNIFICANCE: Taken together, our data show a new role for Runx1/CBFbeta in the control of the proliferation/differentiation in skeletal myoblasts

Plutonium in the environment: key factors related to impact assessment in case of an accidental atmospheric release

    Get PDF
International audienceThis paper deals with plutonium and key factors related to impact assessment. It is based on recent work performed by CEA which summarize the main features of plutonium behaviour from sources inside installations to the environment and man, and to report current knowledge on the different parameters used in models for environmental and radiological impact assessment. These key factors are illustrated through a case study based on an accidental atmospheric release of Pu in a nuclear facility

Effect of nearest neighbor repulsion on the low frequency phase diagram of a quarter-filled Hubbard-Holstein chain

We have studied the influence of nearest-neighbor (NN) repulsion on the low frequency phase diagram of a quarter-filled Hubbard-Holstein chain. The NN repulsion term induces the apparition of two new long range ordered phases (one 4kF4k_F CDW for positive Ueff=U−2g2/ωU_{eff} = U-2g^2/\omega and one 2kF2k_F CDW for negative UeffU_{eff}) that did not exist in the V=0 phase diagram. These results are put into perspective with the newly observed charge ordered phases in organic conductors and an interpretation of their origin in terms of electron-molecular vibration coupling is suggested.Comment: 10 pages, 10 figure
