    Studi Performa Umum Tubuh dan Status Fisiologis Kuda Sumba

    Penelitian mengenai studi performa umum dan status fisiologis kuda Sumba di dilaksanakan pada tanggal April-September 2018 bertempat di Peternakan kuda sumba, Pulau Sumba, NTT. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui performa umum kuda sumba dalam kaitannya dengan status fisiologisnya. Penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif yaitu metode yang menggambarkan objek sesuai dengan apa adanya, pengambilan sampel dilakukan selama dua minggu. Dalam penelitian ini peubah yang diamati adalah frekuensi respirasi, frekuensi denyut jantung dan suhu tubuh yang dilakukan pada 30 ekor indukan kuda sumba memiliki riwayat pernah digunakan untuk olahraga kuda pacuan baik kuda dengan jenis kelamin jantan dan betina dan 5 ekor anakan. Hasil dari penelitian tersebut disimpulkan bahwa frekuensi respirasi indukan memiliki nilai rataan 33±6.7 per menit dan anak memiliki nilai rataan 44±5.7 per menit. Frekuensi denyut jantung indukan memiliki nilai rataan 44±8.0 per menit dan 62±2.8 per menit . Suhu tubuh kuda indukan memiliki rataan yaitu 37.5±0.60C dan suhu anak memiliki rataan yaitu 38.2 ± 0.30C. Selain itu, hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kuda indukan memiliki rataan tinggi badan 138.8 ±8.4 cm dan anakan memiliki rataan 106.2 ± 7.1 cm; indukan memiliki rataan panjang badan 139.4 ± 9.0 cm dan anakan rataan 94.4 ± 3.0; indukan memiliki rataan lebar dada 41.3  ±57.1 cm dan anakan memiliki rataan lebar dada 21.2 ± 3.1 cm; indukan memiliki tinggi punggung 133.9 ± 8.8 cm dan anak memiliki rataan tinggi punggung 104.4 ± 8.6 cm dan indukan memiliki panjang bahu 58.5 ± 5.5 cm dan anak memiliki rataan panjang bahu 40.0 ±5.6 cm                                                                                                                                         &nbsp

    KUALITAS SPERMATOZOA BABI LANDRACE YANG DIBERI EKSTRAK DAUN KELOR (Moringa oleifera Lam.) SEBAGAI ANTIOKSIDAN PADA SUHU PENYIMPANAN BERBEDA

    This study aims to determine the quality of Landrace porkspermatozoa with the addition of natural thinners of lontar fruit juice and Moringa oleifera Lam. Leaf extract as antioxidants stored at different storage temperatures, namely 5°C (freezer),15°C (refrigerator) and 22°C (air-conditioned room). Semen was collected six times and evaluated both macroscopically and microscopically. The best quality of semen was semen with spermatozoa motility> 70%, concentration> 200x106 cells / ml and abnormal spermatozoa <20%. In this study, there were three treatments, in which the cement with antioxidant diluents was stored at 15°C. (treatment I), 22°C (treatment II) and 5 oC (treatment III). The results showed at the 36th hour of storage the temperature was 22°C with a motility of 55.00 ± 0.20% and a viability of 72.50 ± 0.27%, a temperature of 15°C with a motility of 55.00 ± 0.28% and a viability of 64.50 ± 0.20%, and a temperature of 5°C with a motility of 50.00 ± 0.50 % and viability 57.50 ± 0.33%. It was concluded that the water thinner of lontar fruit and the antioxidant of Moringa oleifera Lam. Leaf extract were able to maintain the quality of the liquid Landrace pig semen at different storage temperatures. A significant difference (P≤0.05) occurred between the 5°C and 22°C treatment, while the 15°C temperature was not significantly different (P≥0.05) with the 5°C and 22°C temperatures

    The quality of sperm an the supporting factors in the success of the process of insemination in boar. One of the cause of quality is the low temperature. The boar sperm have a thin plasma membrane so it can’t withstand low temperature. Needed ubstances that can protect the sperm from cold shock. The egg yolks with a lipoprotein content and lecithin are known to protect boar sperm stored at low temperature. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of addition of egg yolks concentration 25%, 15% and 5% in palmyra juice diluents to improve the quality of the Landrace boar sperm. The research used is experimental method with Completely Randomized Design (RAL), each of 4 replications. Palmyra juice made by extraction method plus egg yolks, then addition of antibiotics. Palmyra juice diluents with different concentrations of egg yolks were added to the boar semen and stored by water jacket and non water jacket method. Evaluation of motility and percentage of live had performed microscopically. The results of this study were indicated that the addition of egg yolk as much as 25% with water jacket storage method is able to maintain the quality of sperm in a longer time compared with other concentrations.  Motility up to 24 hours of storage with a 40,00±0,00%  percentage and viability up to 30 hours of storage with  40.33±1.76% percentage

    Community service activities in Nggorang Village, Komodo District in the form of training on making bokashi fertilizer aim to train groups of farmers to know how to make bokashi fertilizer by utilizing organic waste to be beneficial for plants, and the environment. Utilization of organic waste such as waste from livestock (feces), straw, husks, leftover forage waste, and white flower bush (Cromolena odorata). The target in PKM in Nggorang Village is to create and utilize various wastes into entrepreneurial opportunities that have an impact on increasing income for farmer-breeding families who participate in this activity. The training method is carried out by education such as lectures, discussions, and training or practice with remote methods using the zoom application and guided by instructors equipped with guide books.     PENGARUH UKURAN TESTIS TERHADAP KUALITAS SEMEN BABI LANDRACE DAN BABI DUROC

    The objective of this study was to determine the effect of testicular size on spermatozoa quality from landrace pigs and duroc pigs that had mature with age ranging 2-4 years. The macroscopic and microscopic data obtained from this study will be analyzed descriptively and for the effect of testicular size on spermatozoa quality tested using complete randomized design (RAL) using ANOVA. The results showed the average of the observations of landrace pig cement on macroscopic basis as follows: volume obtained 236.7 ml, consistency dilute, milk white, pH 7 and has the smell of a pig. Based on the variance test, the average of spermatozoa is 82.5%, spermatozoa viability is 88.6%, 12.9% abnormality and spermatozoa concentration of 215 x 106 cells / ml. The mean size of testes of landrace pig and duroc pig is calculated using excel application and testicular area calculated using PxL formula. The results obtained were as follows: left testis length of landrace pork 12.66 ± 3cm, right testis length 14 ± 1cm, left testis pavement landrace 7.66 ± 2.081cm, right testis width 8 ± 0cm with left testis area and right testis of landrace pigs respectively 96.97cm and 112cm. Duroc pigs have a length of left and right testis respectively 16.66 ± 5.507cm and 13.66 ± 3.21cm, the left and right testis widths of 83 ± 2.020cm and 8.5 ± 1.5cm respectively and the size of the left and right testis respectively are 147.1cm and 116.11cm. So tu sum up the testicular size significantly affected the semen volume produced by a pig and the size of the testes had no significant effect on motility, viability, concentration, abnormality, color, consistency, pH and odor

    Kualitas silase dipengaruhi berbagai faktor, di antaranya bakteri asam laktat sebagai starter dalam proses fermentasi. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh isolat bakteri asam laktat dari nira lontar dapat digunakan sebagai starter kualitas silase. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah pembuatan probiotik, pembuatan silase dan pengujian kualitas silase. Penelitian ini dilakukan dalam 5 perlakuan yang diulang sebanyak 3 kali dan menggunakan bahan utama pembuatan silase yaitu seluruh tanaman jagung. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis secara deskriptif dan disajikan dalam bentuk gambar. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa silase berwarna hijau kecokelatan, memiliki aroma segar, adanya kerusakan silase kurang dari 1%, dan terjadi penurunan derajat keasaman (pH) pada perlakuan. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bakteri asam laktat dari nira lontar yang digunakan sebagai starter memberikan efek yang baik terhadap kualitas silase jagung

    MORFOLOGI ABNORMALITAS SPERMATOZOA BABI LANDRACE DAN BABI DUROC DENGAN PEWARNAAN CARBOFUCHSIN

    This research was aimed to defined the morphology of boar’s sperm and using carbofuchsin staining. The semen sample were collected with technique glove hand method from three healty Landrace and Duroc boars belong to UPT pembibitan Ternak Babi Dinas Peternakan Provinsi NTT. Semen were stained using Carbofucsin staining technique, morphology observation was evaluated by microscop on 500 cells for each sample. From macroscopic and microscopic evaluation the result showed that the Landrace boar’s semen volume was308.33±23.63 ml, the pH was 7,4 and the sperm concentration was 230±20x106 cell/mL. Macroscopic and microscopic evaluation the result showed that the Duroc boar’s semen volume was 213.33±41.63 ml, the pH was 7,4 and the sperm concentration was 455±198.30x106 cell/mL. The result of morphology observation in Landrace and Duroc boars showed that the normal sperm was 95.91±1.14% and94.02±2.76%. Abnormal sperm in Landrace and Duroc was4.13±1.11% dan 5.97±2.76%. The abnormality of theLandrace and Duroc sperm consist of narrow (0.07% and0,26%), acrosome defect (0,27% and 0,1%), pear shapered (0,49% and 0.18%), double head (0,07% and 0,04%), variable size (0.11% and 0,12%), lose abnormal head (0.06% and 0,32%) and tail abnormalities (1,72% dan 4,36%).     The aim of this research was to determine the ratio between the provision of Moringa to the physiological status (body temperature) of female goats. This research was conducted in the dryland field laboratory of the Nusa Cendana University, using 16 adult female goats, with a range of  6-7 months and body weight ranging from 10-12 kg. Goats were divided into 2 groups, namely groups using ammoniated grass and concentrate formulations combined with Moringa and without Moringa. The results showed that the body temperature of kacang goats that placed in individual cages with incentive maintenance patterns with cage adaptation for approximately 45 days, with a feeding pattern with no moringa concentrate and with moringa that given in the morning ranged from 38.8-39.0ËšC and 38.7-39.2ËšC. While in the afternoon, ranging from 38.7-39.2ËšC and 38.7-39.0ËšC. The conclusion is this body temperature was still in the normal range of body temperature for young female kacang goats

    THE QUALITY OF BOAR FROZEN SEMEN DILUTED IN BTS® AND MII® WITH DIFFERENT CRYOPROTECTANT SUPPLEMENTED WITH SODIUM DODECYL SULPHATE

    This research was aimed to study the effect of administration of glycerol and dimetilacetamida (DMA) in BTS® and MIII®extender supplemented with sodium dodecyl sulphate (SDS) on boar frozen semen. A number of four boars were used in this study for semen collection (n=20). The collected semen was evaluated both macroscopically and microscopically. In this study, only the semen that demonstrated70% sperm motility, 200.106/mL sperm concentration, and20% sperm abnormalities were used and divided into eight tubes. A number of 4 tubes were diluted with 5 mL of BTS, and the rest with 5 mL MIII. The sampel was stored at 20-22° C for 2 hours, followed by centrifugation for 15 minutes (at 2000 rpm), and taken of pellet with 1 ml supernatant. The pellet that was resulted from centrifugation using BTS, then re-diluted with BTS-glycerol 5% (BTSG), BTS DMA 5% (BTSD), BTS-glycerol 5% and SDS (BTSG-S), BTS-DMA 5% and SDS (BTSD-S). Four other pellets that were centrifuged with MIII also re-diluted with MIII-glycerol 5% (MIIIG), MIII-DMA 5% (MIIID), MIII-glycerol 5% and SDS (MIIIG-S), MIII-DMA 5% and SDS (MIIID-S). Next, all of diluted semen were inserted into 0.5 mL straw and equilibrated for 2 hours (4° C), then frozen and stored in liquid nitrogen. The evaluation of frozen semen quality was conducted at 24 hours after frozen. The result of this study showed that post-thawing motility of spermatozoa in BTSD-S (40.17±0.2%) was found higher (P0.05) compared to seven other dilution processes. Therefore, it is concluded that the concentration of 5% DMA that supplemented with SDS in BTS dilution much better for maintaining boars frozen semen quality
