Oportunidades.
This essay focus on the role that Diagnosis and Counseling Technicians play in the
New Opportunities Center, scoped on the Adult Education and Training perspective.
It seemed important to pay a closer look to a character that only appears in 2008,
whose skills, aptitudes and knowledge had to be forged by informal learning
processes, in order to cope with daily classroom challenges.
This issue shows the way this new character was created and his relevance for Adult
Education and Training development. Its primary goal is, therefore, to analyze and
characterize the central role played by these teaching professionals, and the work
they develop on the New Opportunities Centers.
Supported by the testimony given by three Diagnosis and Counseling that develop
their activity in New Opportunities Centers, the essay approaches the teaching
methods that have been developed and the different dimensions off classroom work in
order to make an attempt to isolate and debate the obstacles and needs that have
been felt, notably in terms of specific job training.
It concludes with a personal insight about the current situation off these teaching
professionals, framed by the incertitude off the moment we’re living and the fear that
the timid expectations created for Adult Education and Training may not have enough
