Os impactos da pandemia de Coronavírus na Saúde mental de enfermeiros
Introduction: This work is based on concerns related to the increase in mental health impact rates that have been affecting nursing professionals, and which are mainly highlighted during the COVID-19 pandemic. Objective: To produce a theoretical reflection on emotional exhaustion in the hospital environment of nurses in the face of the pandemic. Methodology: This is an Integrative Literature Review (RIL) or was developed through a search for publications obtained in the databases: LILACS and VHL. The descriptors of mental health, nursing and coronavirus infections were used. Finally, 06 publications were chosen to compose the study. Results: During the research, it became clear how, in times of COVID-19, nurses have been developing considerable problems in their mental health, such as stress, fatigue, anxiety and even depression. This can be caused by work overload, as well as fatigue, both physical and mental, the feeling of incapacity and professional uncertainty. Final considerations: Therefore, it is important to ensure attention to the psycho-emotional health of nurses, supported by interventions aimed at better space and working conditions.
Minimal information for studies of extracellular vesicles (MISEV2023): From basic to advanced approaches
Extracellular vesicles (EVs), through their complex cargo, can reflect the state of their cell of origin and change the functions and phenotypes of other cells. These features indicate strong biomarker and therapeutic potential and have generated broad interest, as evidenced by the steady year-on-year increase in the numbers of scientific publications about EVs. Important advances have been made in EV metrology and in understanding and applying EV biology. However, hurdles remain to realising the potential of EVs in domains ranging from basic biology to clinical applications due to challenges in EV nomenclature, separation from non-vesicular extracellular particles, characterisation and functional studies. To address the challenges and opportunities in this rapidly evolving field, the International Society for Extracellular Vesicles (ISEV) updates its 'Minimal Information for Studies of Extracellular Vesicles', which was first published in 2014 and then in 2018 as MISEV2014 and MISEV2018, respectively. The goal of the current document, MISEV2023, is to provide researchers with an updated snapshot of available approaches and their advantages and limitations for production, separation and characterisation of EVs from multiple sources, including cell culture, body fluids and solid tissues. In addition to presenting the latest state of the art in basic principles of EV research, this document also covers advanced techniques and approaches that are currently expanding the boundaries of the field. MISEV2023 also includes new sections on EV release and uptake and a brief discussion of in vivo approaches to study EVs. Compiling feedback from ISEV expert task forces and more than 1000 researchers, this document conveys the current state of EV research to facilitate robust scientific discoveries and move the field forward even more rapidly
Older adult sexuality in the practice and training of geriatricians: a qualitative study
OBJECTIVE: To understand the academic training of geriatrics residents and their supervisors regarding the sexuality of older adults, as well as practical approaches to the subject in their work routines.
METHODS: This qualitative study was conducted with geriatrics residents and their supervisors at a public hospital in Recife, PE, Brazil in 2019 and 2020.
RESULTS: A partial understanding of the respondents’ concept of sexuality was identified through statements that expressed confusion between sexual intercourse and sexuality, as well as a lack of knowledge about sexuality on an individual level. Although the respondents affirmed the importance of discussing the subject, they reported that they do not, except passively. The respondents discuss this issue depending on the patient’s questions, despite acknowledging their difficulty in seeking a health service to talk about sexuality-related issues. Finally, the lack of an approach to sexuality in geriatric consultations was linked with gaps in undergraduate and specialization programs about general care for older adults, resulting in a feeling of unpreparedness to face the taboos and prejudices associated with sexuality.
CONCLUSION: Although professionals consider it important to address sexuality with patients, most of them do not do so in medical consultations due to a number of difficulties, including the lack of a protocol to follow, which leads to a passive approach. Therefore, professionals acknowledge the difficulty of addressing the subject and associate it with deficiencies in their academic training.</p
Clinical nursing care protocol for convalescent plasma transfusion in patients with COVID-19
Introduction: The treatment of COVID-19 is still challenge. So convalescent plasma can be an important alternative of treatment. Protocols with nursing care during infusion is very important to guide an effective and safety care Objective: to analyze the evidence in the literature on the action of convalescent plasma, of the use of protocols with nursing care to use convalescent plasma and build a nursing care protocol for transfusion in patients with COVID-19. Methods: Methodological study carried out in two stages: scoping review. The search was done using the descriptors: convalescent plasma transfusion, convalescent plasma, and acute respiratory syndromes or COVID-19, to found protocols and effectiveness of convalescent plasm. Beside was done a specialist panel to build the protocol. Results: Low-evidence studies have shown improvement in the clinical signs of COVID-19 using Convalescent Plasma, reduction or elimination of viral load, benefits in the production of lymphocytes, decreases C-reactive protein, increases titers of anti-SARS-CoV-2 antibodies, positive evolution in lung involvement identified by X-rays, decrease in hospitalization. No studies were found in the databases on the protocol for clinical nursing care in plasma transfusion. Therefore, a protocol was developed with the description of clinical nursing care to be performed before, during and after the transfusion by plasma: checking of vital signs and indicative signs of transfusion reaction, measurement of oxygen saturation, assessment of venous access and checking of the level of consciousness. Conclusion: There are no evidence studies to support the use of plasma, nor anything related to bundles
