    Quark splitting in non-trivial \theta-vacuum

Quark splitting in non-trivial θ\theta-vacuum with a given helicity is investigated in pQCD with a modified quark propagator. We found that the quark splitting functions were modified by the presence of a topologically non-trivial QCD background field, though there is no explicit helicity flip associated with the radiative processes. The interaction with the topological non-trivial field leads to the degeneracy of the quark splitting functions for left- and right-handed quarks. Such degeneracy can lead to imbalance of left- and right-handed quarks in quark jet showers. We also discuss phenomenological consequences of such imbalance if there exists non-trivial topological gluon field configuration in heavy-ion collisions.Comment: Proceedings of Hard Probes 2010 including 4 pages and 2 figure

How Does Farmland Tenure Security Affect Rural Household Income? Empirical Evidence of China’s Survey Data

    No full text
A stable farmland tenure can optimize farmers’ allocation of production factors and then determine the income level and structure of farmers. In recent years, the reform of China’s farmland tenure system had been making efforts to strengthen the stability of farmland tenures. Will the farmland tenure security restrict agricultural development? Based on the data of the 2018 China Labor Dynamics Survey (CLDS), this paper empirically analyzes the impact of farmland tenure stability on rural household income and its mechanism. The results showed that the stability of land rights increased the per capita total income, wage income and agricultural productive income of farmers significantly. The stability of the farmland tenure significantly increased the income of rural households in plain areas and the income of rural households in villages with highly mechanied; additionally, employment opportunities increased significantly. The mechanism analysis showed that the stability of the farmland tenure had a significant positive effect on the total income of farmers by promoting the division of labor and agricultural investment. On this basis, this paper puts forward measures such as strictly controlling the readjustment of agricultural land, improving the rural labor market and financial market, and guiding nonplain areas to develop tertiary industry according to local conditions

scHiCTools: A computational toolbox for analyzing single-cell Hi-C data.

Single-cell Hi-C (scHi-C) sequencing technologies allow us to investigate three-dimensional chromatin organization at the single-cell level. However, we still need computational tools to deal with the sparsity of the contact maps from single cells and embed single cells in a lower-dimensional Euclidean space. This embedding helps us understand relationships between the cells in different dimensions, such as cell-cycle dynamics and cell differentiation. We present an open-source computational toolbox, scHiCTools, for analyzing single-cell Hi-C data comprehensively and efficiently. The toolbox provides two methods for screening single cells, three common methods for smoothing scHi-C data, three efficient methods for calculating the pairwise similarity of cells, three methods for embedding single cells, three methods for clustering cells, and a build-in function to visualize the cells embedding in a two-dimensional or three-dimensional plot. scHiCTools, written in Python3, is compatible with different platforms, including Linux, macOS, and Windows

An Efficient Approach to Pyrene-based Aggregation-induced Emission Luminogens

    No full text
To suppress the fluorescence quenching of pyrene in the aggregation state, this article presents a facile strategy for the construction of pyrene-based aggregation-induced emission luminogens (AIEgens) via decorating the pyrene core with benzophenone units at the 1-, 2- or 2,7-positions. This set of pyrene-based compounds 1–3 displayed a weak deep blue fluorescence in solution, but an enhanced excimer emission with λem max of 426–436 nm in the aggregation state. Interestingly, unlike reported benzophenone derivatives, this series of compounds did not exhibit thermally activated delayed fluorescence/ phosphorescent properties

Nujiangexanthone A Inhibits Cervical Cancer Cell Proliferation by Promoting Mitophagy

Nujiangexanthone A (NJXA), a bioactive component isolated from the leaves of Garcinia nujiangensis, has been reported to exhibit anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and antitumor effects. Our previous work has shown that NJXA induced G0/1 arrest and apoptosis, thus suppressing cervical cancer cell growth. The present study provides new evidence that NJXA can induce cell death in HeLa cells by promoting mitophagy. We first identified that NJXA triggered GFP-LC3 and YFP-Parkin puncta accumulation, which are biomarkers of mitophagy. Moreover, NJXA degraded the mitochondrial membrane proteins Tom20 and Tim23 and mitochondrial fusion proteins MFN1 and MFN2, downregulated Parkin, and stabilized PINK1. Additionally, we revealed that NJXA induced lysosome degradation and colocalization of mitochondria and autophagosomes, which was attenuated by knocking down ATG7, the key regulator of mitophagy. Furthermore, since mitophagy is induced under starvation conditions, we detected the cytotoxic effect of NJXA in nutrient-deprived HeLa cells and observed better cytotoxicity. Taken together, our work contributes to the further clarification of the mechanism by which NJXA inhibits cervical cancer cell proliferation and provides evidence that NJXA has the potential to develop anticancer drugs

Extracts of Coreopsis tinctoria Nutt. Flower Exhibit Antidiabetic Effects via the Inhibition of α-Glucosidase Activity

The aim of this study was to assay the effects of Coreopsis tinctoria Nutt. flower extracts on hyperglycemia of diet-induced obese mice and the underlying mechanisms. Coreopsis tinctoria flower was extracted with ethanol and water, respectively. The total phenol, flavonoid levels, and the constituents of the extracts were measured. For the animal experiments, C57BL/6 mice were fed with a chow diet, high-fat diet, or high-fat diet mixed with 0.4% (w/w) water and ethanol extracts of Coreopsis tinctoria flower for 8 weeks. The inhibitory effects of the extracts on α-glucosidase activity and the antioxidant properties were assayed in vitro. We found that the extracts blocked the increase of fasting blood glucose, serum triglyceride (TG), insulin, leptin, and liver lipid levels and prevented the development of glucose tolerance impairment and insulin resistance in the C57BL/6 mice induced by a high-fat diet. The extracts inhibited α-glycosidase activity and increased oxidant activity in vitro. In conclusion, Coreopsis tinctoria flower extracts may ameliorate high-fat diet-induced hyperglycemia and insulin resistance. The underling mechanism may be via the inhibition of α-glucosidase activity. Our data indicate that Coreopsis tinctoria flower could be used as a beverage supplement and a potential source of drugs for treatment of diabetics

Experimental and theoretical studies of the effect of molecular conformation on the photophysical properties in the pyrene system

Disordered motion is an intrinsic property of molecules. The use of controllable molecular motion can not only achieve interesting molecular geometry, but can also induce novel opto-electronic behaviour. Herein, a set of pyrene-based compounds were synthesized to realize an observable molecular motion. 2,5-Dimethoxyphenyl unit (s) were introduced at the pyrene core, which lead to different molecular conformations. Furthermore, the detail molecular geometries of the compounds were investigated by NMR spectroscopy and DFT calculations. In addition, the photophysical properties of these compounds were investigated in order to understand the relationship between the molecular conformations and the photophysical properties. The diversiform of molecular conformations can cause a broaden FWHM emission in organic luminescence materials
