    Penggunaan agen-agen kemoterapi sebagai terapi pada kanker memiliki banyak efek samping. Efek samping kemoterapi timbul karena obat kemoterapi tidak hanya menghancurkan sel kanker melainkan menyerang sel-sel yang sehat. Berdasarkan data dari Kemenkes tahun 2019, kejadian penyakit kanker pada perempuan tertinggi adalah kanker payudara. Toksisitas kemoterapi yang dapat timbul salah satunya pada mata. Efek samping pada mata yang ditimbulkan oleh agen kemoterapi meskipun relatif jarang dapat bergejala ringan sampai berat, hingga dapat menyebabkan hilangnya penglihatan. Laporan kasus ini bertujuan untuk menampilkan kasus jarang yaitu efek samping penggunaan kemoterapi kanker payudara yang menimbulkan terjadinya retinal detachment eksudatif

    The Relationship between Diabetes Mellitus with Senile Cataracts

    A cataract is any condition of cloudiness of the eye lens (lens opacity) caused by denaturation of lens proteins, lens hydration, or both. Senile cataract refers to cataracts suffered by patients aged > 50 years. Cataract is a multifactorial disease. About 90% of cataract incidence is related to age. Other factors such as radiation exposure, trauma, medicine, or the presence of systemic disorders are also involved in diabetes melitus. The study’s goal was to analyze the relationship between diabetes mellitus and the incidence of senile cataract. The research was carried out using an analytical observational method and utilized a case-control study approach with individual matching. The data was taken from the medical record installation at the Eye Clinic of SMEC Samarinda with a purposive sampling method. The sample in this study included patients with eye disorders or diseases.The patients with a cataract diagnosis were involved as the case group, while non-cataract patients as the control group. All patients were received treatment at the SMEC Samarinda Eye Clinic in the period January to December 2021 and already met the research sample criteria. The data then tested using the Chi-Square test with a significance value of p <0.05, which was considered significant. A total of 334 samples were obtained, consisting of 167 case samples and 167 control samples. The results indicated that there was a relationship between diabetes mellitus and senile cataract (p = 0.000) with an odds ratio (OR) value of 3.150. It can be concluded that diabetes mellitus had a relationship with the incidence of senile cataract, since patients with diabetes mellitus were 3.150 times more at risk of suffering senile cataracts than non-diabetics patients

    Retinopati diabetik merupakan komplikasi neurovaskular yang terjadi pada diabetes baik diabetes tipe 1 maupun diabetes tipe 2. Retinopati diabetik terdiri dari retinopati diabetik non proliferatif (RDNP) dan retinopati diabetik proliferatif (RDP). Kejadian retinopati diabetik dipengaruhi oleh berbagai faktor, salah satunya adalah indeks massa tubuh. Beberapa penelitian terkait indeks massa tubuh terhadap derajat retinopati diabetik masih memberikan hasil yang tidak konsisten. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui hubungan indeks massa tubuh dengan derajat retinopati diabetik. Penelitian ini bersifat analitik observasional dengan metode cross sectional yang dilakukan pada bulan Februari hingga Maret 2021 di Klinik Mata SMEC Samarinda. Data diperoleh dari 52 pasien retinopati diabetik yang memenuhi kriteria inklusi dan eksklusi yang diambil dengan teknik purposive sampling. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan pengukuran tinggi badan dan berat badan untuk menilai indeks massa tubuh secara langsung serta lembar rekam medik untuk melihat derajat retinopati diabetik. Analisis bivariat dilakukan menggunakan uji Chi-Square dan diperoleh nilai p=0,746 (p>0,05). Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ini, dapat disimpulkan tidak adanya hubungan antara indeks massa tubuh dengan derajat retinopati diabetik

    Masalah penglihatan akibat katarak masih merupakan masalah serius secara global. Katarak menduduki peringkat pertama penyebab kebutaan dunia, diikuti dengan glaukoma. Angka kejadian katarak yang terus meningkat berimplikasi pada kebutuhan melakukan prosedur operasi. Prosedur operasi fakoemulsifikasi yang saat ini menjadi pilihan utama pada katarak, memiliki pengaruh terhadap tekanan intraokular (TIO). Pemeriksaan TIO sebelum dan setelah operasi penting dilakukan sebagai upaya deteksi dini komplikasi yang mungkin timbul akibat operasi. Penelitian analitik dengan pendekatan cross sectional ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan TIO sebelum dan setelah operasi katarak dengan teknik fakoemulsifikasi di Klinik Mata SMEC (Sumatera Eye Center) Samarinda. Penelitian menggunakan data sekunder yang diperoleh dari rekam medis pasien katarak yang telah menjalani operasi fakoemulsifikasi serta melakukan pemeriksaan TIO sebelum dan pada saat kontrol satu bulan setelah operasi. Responden berjumlah 119 pasien yang berusia 20-83 tahun. Dari hasil uji beda Wilcoxon didapatkan adanya perbedaan bermakna TIO setelah operasi dibandingkan sebelum operasi dengan p value 0,000. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat penurunan TIO setelah dibandingkan dengan sebelum operasi katarak dengan teknik fakoemulsifikasi di Klinik Mata SMEC Samarinda

    Quite a few women experienced anxiety and fear during pregnancy and nearing the labor process, while one of the effects of this situation can reduce sleep quality. One of the efforts that can be done to overcome these inconveniences is prenatal yoga. Based on preliminary studies, it was found that pregnant women who have been doing yoga experience a reduction of the complaints that they feel. This study aims to determine the relationship between prenatal yoga with anxiety level and sleep quality in third-trimester pregnant women. This research is observational research using pretest-posttest with control group design. The sampling method used was purposive sampling in accordance with the specified inclusion and exclusion criteria. This research samples were 32 respondents who were divided into 2 groups, which are the intervention group and control group. Data collection was carried out using a questionnaire to determine the level of anxiety and sleep quality of the respondents. Based on the bivariate results, there were differences of anxiety levels before and after prenatal yoga (p-value = 0.001), there were differences in sleep quality before and after prenatal yoga (p-value = 0,000), there was a relationship between prenatal yoga and anxiety levels (p-value = 0,001), and there was a relationship between prenatal yoga and sleep quality (p-value = 0,000). There were differences of anxiety level and quality of sleep before and after prenatal yoga. There was a relationship between prenatal yoga with anxiety levels and sleep quality

    The Difference Of Visual Acuity And Macular Thickness Post Bevacizumab Therapy In Secondary Macular Edema Retinal Vein Occlusion

    Retinal vein occlusion is the second most common cause of blindness in retinal vascular disease after diabetic retinopathy and may lead to complications of macular edema. Bevacizumab is an influential treatment as an anti vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF). This study aims to determine the difference of visual acuity and macular thickness before and after treatment of Bevacizumab. This is a quasi experimental study in patients with secondary macular edema retinal vein occlusion who meets the inclusion criteria. Visual acuity and macular thickness were evaluated after one month of treatment. This study was conducted for two months since May-June 2017 by collecting secondary data from medical record at SMEC Samarinda from January 2016 – June 2017. Data were analyzed using Wilcoxon. Sixteen eyes from 16 patients were diagnosed with macular edema secondary retinal vein occlusion given bevacizumab treatment. The mean visual acuity before therapy was 1.106 LogMAR ± 0.509 and increased to 0.889 logMAR ± 0.608 (p = 0.116) after treatment while the mean macular thickness before therapy was 504.06 μm ± 301.273 and decreased to 348.81 μm ± 181.17 (p = 0.017) after treatment. There was a significant effect on the decrease in macular thickness but no significant effect on visual acuity improvement in patients with macular edema secondary retinal vein occlusion at SMEC Samarinda. &nbsp;Keywords: Retinal vein occlusion, macular edema, bevacizuma

    THE DIFFERENCES OF MIOPIA RISK FACTORS ON MEDICINE STUDENT AND PYSHICAL, HEALTH AND RECREATION EDUCATION STUDENTS IN UNMUL SAMARINDA

    Myopia is refractive abnormality which occurs when eyes are relax and the lights come in parallel, will be refracted at one point in front of the retina. The most significant risk factors for myopia are near work activities. In addition,&nbsp; spending time outdoors &nbsp;has been reported to reduce the risk of developing myopia. The research aimed to identify the differences of Risk Factors of myopia in Medicine student with Student of Physical Education, Medical and Recreation in University of Mulawarman Samarinda. This research was an analytic observasional study with Cross Sectional research design. The research subject were 162 students consisted of 81 Medicine student and 81 Student of Physical Education, Medical and Recreation by using techniques stratified random sampling. Mann Whitney test was used to analyze the result of the research.&nbsp;The results of this research showed that 58 people (71.6%) were female and 19 years old as many as 28 people (34.6%) more commonly found in Medicine student that in Student of Physical Education, Medical and Recreation. The majority of students did near work activities which were not good at 77 people (95,1%) in Medicine student and 74 people (91.4%) in Student of Physical Education, Medical and Recreation. Good outdoor activities were more for Student of Physical Education, Medical and Recreation, which was 74 people (91.4%). 49 people (60.5%) had myopia with mild level as much 41 people (83.7%) in Medicine student. The different test showed a value p=0.350 for near work activities, and p=0.000 for outdoor activities and the frequency of myopia.&nbsp;It can be concluded that there was no difference in near vision activities and there was a difference in outdoor activities and the frequency of myopia on Medicine student with Student of Physical Education, Medical and Recreation in University of Mulawarman Samarinda. &nbsp

    GAMBARAN JARAK ANTAR PUPIL BERDASARKAN USIA, JENIS KELAMIN DAN SUKU DI KLINIK MATA SMEC SAMARINDA

    Antropometri adalah salah satu cabang antropologi dan berkaitan dengan pengukuran tubuh manusia. Jarak antar pupil merupakan jarak antara dua pupil mata yang diukur dalam satuan mm. Pengukuran jarak antar pupil merupakan salah satu pengukuran antropometri dan berhubungan dengan berbagai aspek klinis, seperti: pada pasien yang mengalami kelainan refraksi dan perlu dikoreksi menggunakan kacamata, manajemen bedah trauma maksilofasial dan juga membantu menegakkan diagnosis beberapa sindrom. Nilai normal jarak antar pupil berkisar antara 55-70 mm dan jarak antar pupil diketahui bervariasi menurut usia, jenis kelamin dan suku. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengukur perbedaan nilai jarak antar pupil berdasarkan usia, jenis kelamin dan suku di klinik mata SMEC Samarinda. Desain penelitian ini bersifat analitik observasional dengan pendekatan cross sectional.  Data penelitian berasal dari rekam medik seluruh pasien klinik mata SMEC Samarinda pada tahun 2020. Sampel penelitian sebesar 3.552 sampel. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan jarak antar pupil pada subjek yang berusia 17-50 tahun sebesar 63,98 mm dan pada subjek berusia >50 tahun sebesar 64,18 mm (p = 0,156). Nilai jarak antar pupil pada laki-laki 65,33 mm dan pada perempuan 62,98 mm (p < 0,001). Jarak antar pupil pada suku Batak 65,05 mm, Sunda 64,29 mm, Jawa 64,25 mm, Banjar 64,05 mm, Kutai 64,00 mm, Dayak 63,84 mm, Toraja 63,60 mm dan suku Bugis 63,27 mm (p = 0,222

    Smartphones which are very useful in human life can cause health related problem due to excessive and improper use. The improper duration and distance when using smartphone will cause symptoms of Computer Vision Syndrome (CVS). This study used a cross – sectional approach with an observational analytic research design to determine the relationship between duration and distance of smartphone's usage with the symptoms of CVS in students of the Faculty of Medicine, Mulawarman University, Samarinda. Sources of research data in this study is primary data obtained through questionnaires with a Google form. The sample in this research is students of Faculty of Medicine, Mulawarman University, which amounted to 177 students consisting of Study Programs of Medicine, Dentistry, and D-3 Nursing. Bivariate analysis was done using Chi – Square test. The results of the research showed that many students of the Faculty of Medicine, Mulawarman University, Samarinda experienced symptoms of CVS (82.5%), the symptoms of CVS is experienced by many students (73,4%) who use a smartphone with duration of&nbsp; ? 4 hours / day (p = 0.000) and 59.9% viewing distance of &lt; 29,2 cm (p = 0.001).     Retinal detachment is a critical ocular condition arising from separating two retina layers, leading to an abrupt decline in visual acuity. Exudative retinal detachment occurs due to fluid accumulation from the inflammatory reaction. Objective: To ascertain the demographic characteristics of individuals diagnosed with retinal detachment at SMEC Eye Clinic in Samarinda from 2019 to 2022. Methods: This study was a cross-sectional descriptive study that utilized data from the available population. The sample comprises seven medical records of patients with exudative retinal detachment at SMEC Eye Clinic in Samarinda between 2019 and 2022. Results: The age range observed was six patients (85.7%) between the ages of 15-65 years and one patient (14.3%) > 65. The mean age of patients was 39,4 years. Among the patients, 6 (85.7%) female and 1 (14.3%) male. Unilateral eye involvement was observed in 6 patients (85.7%), while bilateral involvement was observed in 1 (14.3%). The most commonly observed accompanying eye disease was choroidal disorder. In contrast, the most commonly observed non-eye comorbidity was diabetes mellitus. Conclusion: Most exudative retinal detachment cases observed at SMEC Eye Clinic between 2019 and 2022 were concentrated within the age bracket of 15 to 65 years, with a higher proportion of female patients. The condition was predominantly unilateral, and the presence of comorbidities such as choroidal disorder and diabetes mellitus was also noted.
