Patterns of Teaching-Learning Interaction in the EFL Classroom

The successfullness of teaching-learning process is highly influenced by the patterns of interactions appeared in the classroom activities. Through this case study, the purpose of this paper is to explore the patterns of interaction during teaching and learning proccess. Two accellerated classes were observed and recorded to gain the data. The findings revealed that the patterns of interaction emerged in the first class were group work, choral responses, closed-ended teacher questioning (IRF), individual work, student initiates-teacher answers, open-ended teacher questioning, and collaboration. Meanwhile, the patterns of interaction in the second class showed closed-ended teacher questioning (IRF), open-ended teacher questioning, choral responses, student initiates-teacher answers, group work, and individual work pattern. The patterns of interaction were produced from teacher and student(s) and/or student(s) and student(s) in relation to the teacher talk and the students talk categories used during learning activities. These patterns were produced constantly. They are to show that the teaching-learning process was not always dominated by the teacher. Most students actively participate as well in any classroom activity. Thus, these patterns absolutely increase the students talk and students' participation in the class. It is necessary for teachers to reorganize the active activities which might foster more interaction in the classroom

The main problems in conducting this research include 1) The ability of the students to analyze the question was less creative in answering; 2) the students learning activities were still low; 3) the students’ interest and response were still low in the instruction. Those problems that had an impact on the instruction were not a success as individual and classical. Therefore, we need an innovative instruction model in enhancing the learning and teaching process, such as; SCL-based Learning Cycle model. This research was Classroom Action Research (CAR) which consisted of planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. This research was the students in the fifth semester in the Physics Education Department that consisted of 21 students. Based on the research results, it was concluded that the implementation of Learning Cycle 5E through SCL-based had improved students’ creative thinking skills, lecturer’s and students’ activities in the teaching and learning process

Blended-Learning: the Responses From Non-English Students in the Indonesian Tertiary Context

The process of language teaching and learning has undergone major changes due to the developments of technology. The use of technology in education field has paved the way for higher education institution to innovatively shape their modern media in a language teaching and learning. Subsequently, the implementation of blended-learning has aroused at the Universitas Teknokrat Indonesia for approximately one and a half year ago to maximize the use of technology. Most lecturers in all study programs have increasingly utilized the social network sites such as Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp, etc. for the successfulness of blended-learning. This present study aims at exploring the students' responses on how blended-learning might be used to develop their language learning and discovering their attitudes towards the implementation of blended-learning as an interactional teaching and learning tool in English for Business course. Employing a qualitative in form of a case study, eighty-two undergraduate students from study program of Informatics Engineering were observed, interviewed, and distributed questionnaires. The data were performed to collect the students' responses and students' attitudes toward the implementation of blended-learning in the process of their language learning. The findings were found out that most students from Informatics Engineering major showed their positive responses and positive attitudes using blended learning for the language teaching and learning. They also gained some educational benefits for their English language development. Thus, this blended learning brings us to the new trend for language teaching and learning media in order to motivate the students in enhancing their language acquisition

Geodesic Congruences in the Palatini f(R) Theory

We shall investigate the properties of a congruence of geodesics in the framework of Palatini f(R) theories. We shall evaluate the modified geodesic deviation equation and the Raychaudhuri's equation and show that f(R) Palatini theories do not necessarily lead to attractive forces. Also we shall study energy condition for f(R) Palatini gravity via a perturbative analysis of the Raychaudhuri's equation

Causal loop quantum cosmology in momentum space

We shall show that it is possible to make a causal interpretation of loop quantum cosmology using the momentum as the dynamical variable. We shall show that one can derive Bohmian trajectories. For a sample cosmological solution with cosmological constant, the trajectory is plotted.Comment: 21 pages, 2 figures. To appear in Int. J. Mod. Phys. D, 200

University students frequently put off doing their homework, hurting their academic performance. Throughout this research, female students at Jouf University were asked to examine the relationship between academic procrastination and student performance. At Qurayyat, Saudi Arabia, at the College of Sciences and Art, 342 female students served as the study’s sample. The researcher used the Arabic Scale of Procrastination (ASP) questionnaires to determine the relationship between academic procrastination and student performance. Descriptive analysis was employed in the study to evaluate the information. The participants in this research exhibited a minimal degree of educational procrastination, it was discovered after data analysis. Furthermore, this research reveals that academic procrastination had a detrimental impact on female students’ accomplishments. As per the age, marital status, section, level, and grade, there were no statistically significant variations in academic procrastination among female students at Jouf University

Transcriptome Analysis of Neuro-2a Cells Treated with Asiatic and Madecassic Acid

Traditional herbal medicine is ingrained as a source of therapeutic compounds to medicate various diseases. The family Araliaceae (Ginseng family) is rich in traditional medicine species, such as Centella asiatica (CA). For many centuries, CA has been used by the indigenous Indian and Chinese in Ayurvedic and traditional medicine, respectively, to improve intelligence, learning, memory, and cognitive performance. Previous studies on cell culture and animal models supported the beneficial effects of CA on the nervous system. However, the exact composition of CA extract and its molecular mechanism that leads to neuroprotection is still unclear. We examined the effect of asiatic acid (AA) and madecassic acid (MA) on neuronal growth, and hypothesized that AA and MA, major neurite promoting factors in CA extract, would induce expression of genes involved in neurite outgrowth and survival. We tested this hypothesis by examining the effects of AA and MA on murine neuroblastoma cells, Neuro-2a (N2a). N2a cells were incubated for two days in a medium containing either 5 µM AA or MA in ethanol or ethanol alone (vehicle). Following incubation, various parameters of neurite outgrowth were measured using NeuronJ software. To explore the impact of AA, MA, and ethanol (vehicle) on neuronal gene expression, transcriptome analysis was used. The results demonstrated that AA and MA facilitate neuronal extension in N2a cultures, and that AA and MA samples had unique transcriptomes compared to the ethanol (vehicle). Furthermore, several of the predicted proteins from the core transcriptome of cells treated with AA and MA have the potential to be involved in neurite outgrowth and related functions

This research aims at analyzing the spread information level of “Children Special Protection” (CSP) program to children-street community in Makassar and on how its information to influence their behavior like as to emerge consciousness for no goes down the street. This research aims also to analyze obstructions of the spread information of CSP program for children-street in Makassar. The method used in this research is descriptive-qualitative method by watching children-street in their living, their interaction, and tries to know their interpretation to surrounding world. The research informant uses snowball method and the key informant chosen by taking the intentional (purposive). Beside the observation activity, the collected data uses also deep-interview with informant and key informant, and analyses to spread information activities that executes by Dinas Sosial. The result of this research shows that the concept of the spread information of CSP in Makassar is not covering the substantive of field problem. The chosen communicator, arrange and message presentation, a chosen and media planning, and chosen and understand to people target by Dinas Sosial Pemkot Makassar is not yet executed well, adopted information process is inclined to the perception only. Its information estimates to needless and the other influence factor is lower education level, which has children-street
