    English Derivational and Inflectional Morphemes of the Authentic-Recount Text

    Some first-grade students of SMKN 1 Pemalang still have difficulties in arranging words when they produce texts. Vocational students generally focus more on their vocations such as computer network engineering, visual communication design, etc. This impacts their ability to string words in English related to applying derivational and inflectional morphemes because they are meaningful in composing sentences according to their meaning and function. So, this research aimed to discover the types and errors of derivational and inflectional morphemes found in the authentic-recount texts made by vocational students. Fromkin’s theory was used to analyze data using descriptive qualitative method. It revealed 5 types of derivational and 3 types of inflectional morphemes were used by students when creating authentic-recount texts. Additionally, learners still make errors in applying those morphemes into sentences of the recount texts with a total of 38 errors, including 5 derivational morphemes and 33 inflectional morphemes. Thus, students are required to understand more about the function and meaning of words before constructing sentences because it plays a significant part in writing English texts. Further researchers are advised to conduct deeper research that focuses on reconstructing sentences, especially in implementing suffixes or other materials which are included in morphology subject

    Hubungan Antara Perilaku Merokok dengan Kejadian Diabetes Melitus Tipe 2 di Kota Surakarta

    Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a chronic disease which is still a major problem in the world of health in Indonesia. Diabetes mellitus is commonly called the silent killer because this disease can affect all organs of the body and cause various kinds of complaints. Type 2 diabetes can be prevented or eliminated by controlling risk factors. Lifestyle such as smoking can be a risk factor for type 2 diabetes mellitus. This study aim to explain the relationship between smoking behavior and the incidence of type 2 diabetes mellitus in Surakarta. This type of research was observational with a case control approach. The sample of this study was 124, consisting of 62 case samples and 62 control samples selected using purposive sampling technique. Data collection was carried out by interview using an instrument in the form of a questionnaire. The analysis in this study uses Chi Square. The results showed that there was no relationship between smoking habits, total cigarette consumption, smoking duration, and passive smoking with the incidence of type 2 diabetes in Surakarta City (p value> 0.05). Suggestions for the public, both with type 2 diabetes and those who do not, to change their lifestyle that has the risk of causing type 2 diabetes mellitus. Health agencies are expected to increase the promotion of type 2 diabetes to the public through counseling in health agencies. For further researchers, they can take male respondents because the majority of those who have smoking behavior are male or can conduct further research on other factors that influence the incidence of type 2 diabetes mellitus

    Desa Kapencar merupakan salah satu desa di Kecamatan Kertek Kabupaten Wonosobo. Desa ini memiliki potensi pakan ternak, dan salah satu peternakan yang dikembangkan di desa tersebut adalah peternakan sapi perah. Seiring dengan perkembangan zaman, warga desa Kapencar berinovasi mengolah susu menjadi yoghurt. Yoghurt merupakan produk susu yang dinikmati hampir semua usia karena kaya akan nutrisi dan rasanya yang enak. Yoghurt biasanya diproduksi oleh pabrik besar atau usaha keluarga seperti usaha kecil, menengah dan mikro. Kehadiran usaha mikro kecil menengah (UMKM) diharapkan dapat membantu roda perekonomian serta memberikan kesempatan kerja kepada masyarakat. Kegiatan pengabdian ini memberikan pemahaman kepada pelaku UMKM yang ada di desa Kapencar mengenai bagaimana pentingnya membuat produk dengan kemasan dan branding yang menarik melalui sosialisasi dan pengarahan. Metode yang dilakukan dengan memberikan teori terkait pentingnya membuat kemasan dan branding. Dampak yang terjadi yaitu konsumen menjadi lebih tertarik untuk membeli serta menambah nilai jual dari suatu produk. Sosialisasi dan pengarahan dilakukan bersama para pelaku UMKM khusus pada produk yoghurt yang ada di desa Kapencar. Kegiatan ini dijelaskan mengenai bagaimana membuat kemasan yang memenuhi syarat keamanan dan kegunaan untuk melindungi produk agar tetap bersih, kemasan yang relevan dengan rencana pemasaran, membuat kemasan unik yang menarik secara visual (warna, bentuk, merk, ilustrasi, font dan tata letak) dan menarik secara fungsional (dapat melindungi produk saat proses pemasaran), serta mudah dibawa
