    No full text
Water management is the activity of planning, developing, distributing and optimising the use of water resources under defined water policies and regulations. It is a highly important issue because water is the source of life and essential for all life on the planet. Quran as the primer resource for Islam gives a significant focus on water. As a Muslim, one has to submit his idea based on the teaching of Allah's words in Quran. Therefore this study analyzed Quranic principles on water management. This study was done qualitatively, where thematic methodology was used as the word water in Quran has been analysed, using content analysis method. The result of this study shows that Quran gives direction to water management, where the principles are man as a servant of Allah, a vicegerent of Allah, water is the symbol of life, proper governance of water, the supply of water is fixed and it should not be wasted, equitable sharing of water, water as a purification instrument spiritually and physically, Allah has made the universe including water as a subservient to people so to show gratitude to Him and to live in peace and harmony at ecological level, Allah creates water with its own nature from different sources to be used by the creation, healing and treatment with water, water is God's supreme reward to the believers in the heaven in the life hereafter, Allah gives water because of good action and withholds water because of wrongdoing, misfortune due to misused of water, and water as an instrument of punishment in the world and hereafter

The role of religious loyalty in combating digital piracy: an Islamic perspective

    No full text
Religiosity has been seen as a powerful determinant of human actions especially in situations of ethical dilemmas such as digital piracy. Thus, it has been addressed as a potential informal institution to curtail the phenomenon. However, previous research indicated a confounding influence of some contextual factors on the anticipated role of religious loyalty such as the dominant secular culture. As such, the main objective of this article is to investigate the role of religious loyalty in combating digital piracy from the Islamic perspective since loyalty is a core aspect of Muslim’s society as directly associated with faith. Additionally, this paper explores the contextual factors in Islamic countries that may influence the role of religious loyalty in fighting digital piracy. This study involved with qualitative data, gathered from journal articles and books, and then the data analysed using content analysis method. The analysis shows that integrating religion within the campaign toward copyright is potentially viable provided that other contextual factors are properly tackled

Food allergy consumption according to halalan tayyiban perspective: a review

    No full text
Food allergies are the effects of a detrimental reaction from the body's immuntive system on certain types of food that are considered harmful to the body. Food allergies are also considered a critical issue in food safety and food quality management systems. In fact, the issue of food allergy consumption is also discussed from the aspects of medical and food industry to prevent any risk of consuming food that is harmful to consumers. Generally, the implementation of the concept of 'halalan tayyibban' only focuses on the study of raw materials, food processing activities and storage of final ingredients from illegal, clean and safe to be eaten elements. However, this aspect of food allergy intake is not discussed comprehensively based on the perspective of 'Halalan Tayyiban'. Therefore, this article uses a qualitative approach through document analysis to describe the importance of consuming allergic foods according to the perspective of 'halalan tayyiban' in-depth. In addition, the aspects of food allergy control and management through food quality management system are also discussed. This study also suggests that the assessment of risk analysis and food allergy management be discussed in more depth according to the Islamic perspective based on the sources of the Quran and hadith. Hence, this study will have a positive impact on improving the halal auditing process and strengthening the integrity of food product status in line with the concept of 'halalan tayyiban.

Authentication of butter from lard adulteration using high-resolution of nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy and high-performance liquid chromatography

Food authentication is an interesting issue for all parties in the food industry, including the fats and oils industry. Some unethical players try to blend high-quality foods, such as butter, with lower ones like lard, therefore, the analytical methods capable of analyzing the adulteration practices must be developed. This study used proton nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy in combination with high-performance liquid chromatography for the authentication of butter from lard adulteration. The identification of triacylglycerol composition of lard as a chemical marker for halal authentication is analyzed using high-performance liquid chromatography and high resolution nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. The suitability of proton nuclear magnetic resonance provides a high-performance approach for determination butter adulterated with lard in their entirety of all proton bearing components. Peaks in the region of 2.60–2.84 ppm show special characteristics only present in lard. Only lard has its own unique characteristics which only polyunsaturated fatty acids would give signals 7 at δ 2.63, that corresponded to the chemical shift of the double-allylic methylene protons. In the same way, the intensity of signal at 2.63 ppm, due to methylenic protons in a position α to two double bonds, that is to say, due to the linoleic group. Furthermore, we also correlate some signals between 1H and 13C-NMR spectra for the confirmation of signals

Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) had made it compulsory for the application of Malaysia halal certificate at industry level to implement Halal Assurance System (HAS). The main purpose and focus to develop this halal system was to upgrade the integrity of halal product which was based by the 'Farm to Fork' concept that involved from the raw material production up to the end user in the chain. In the application of HAS, specifically in Malaysia the focus was only at the level of receiving of raw material until the end user, instead of started from the highest chain of food supply which involved the broiler chicken farm industry. Therefore, qualitative methodology through document analysis was used in order to obtain the source of information and to explain the element of HAS such as Halal Critical Point in broiler chicken farming activities. Other than that, issues related to the halal control such as animal feed, medication source and animal welfare also discussed in this paper to discover HAS application on farm level. This systematic system and halal certification policy will benefit on farming sector and make it able to be the main reference to halal player's integrity because it will give benefit the consumer from the whole of the halal food chain

Medical field is one of the key areas in viewing the interconnection between religion and science, both modern and traditional. Religion and science are unanimous in ensuring the good health of humans. However, there are differences in approaches used in interpreting the meaning of 'good' in health care between religion and science, as well as the methods of achieving that objective. Among the issues related to the modern medicine is to which extent that the vaccine used is halal. The use of derivatives from haram sources during vaccine preparation becomes a polemic in the field of Islamic bioethics. There is a clash in methodology when scholars explain the halal status of the modern medicines used, especially those derived from haram substances. Among the concepts that caused the difference in fatwa regarding the use of such medicine is istihalah concept. Differences of previous scholars’ acceptance that are associated to istihalah became the fundemental of fatwa difference in this era. Therefore, this paper will discuss issues in the use of haram substance derivatives in the production of vaccines. Next, istihalah concept is analysed based on opinion from past and present scholars, as well as the correlation of istihalah in vaccines production
