    The general solutions for a non-isospectral integrable TD hierarchy via the inverse scattering transform

    A non-isospectral Lax pair is first introduced from which a kind of non-isospectral integrable TD hierarchy is derived, whose reduction is an integrable system called the non-isospectral integrable TD system. Then by using the inverse scattering transform (IST) method, new general soliton solutions for the non-isospectral integrable TD hierarchy are obtained. Because we investigate soliton solutions of non-isospectral integrable systems by the IST method, a new Gel'fand-Levitan-Marchenko (GLM) equation needs to be constructed. Finally, we explicitly obtain the exact solutions of the non-isospectral integrable TD system. The method presented in the paper can be extensively applied to other integrable equations

    Influences of S-Wave Velocity to the Seismic Response of Silt Ground

    By using of one-dimension equivalent linearzation seismic response analysis method, the study is performed to the different silt grounds. The influences of s-wave velocity uncertainty to the seismic acceleration peak, duration, response spectrum of silt ground are discussed in the paper. Following conclusions will he expected. (1) The relationship between the difference of seismic peak acceleration and the difference of s-wave velocity is in linear distribution approximately. The seismic peak acceleration is changed with the S-wave velocity. The seismic peak acceleration is much effected by the uncertainty of S-wave velocity. (2) The uncertainty of shear wave velocity has little influence on the seismic duration. (3) The long-period seismic response spectrum is much effected by the decreasing of shear wave velocity. Conversely, the moderate-period and short-period seismic response spectrum is much effected by the increasing of shear wave velocity. With the depth of silt layers extended, the seismic response spectrum is greater influenced by the uncertainty of shear wave velocity

    Learning Cross-domain Semantic-Visual Relation for Transductive Zero-Shot Learning

    Zero-Shot Learning (ZSL) aims to learn recognition models for recognizing new classes without labeled data. In this work, we propose a novel approach dubbed Transferrable Semantic-Visual Relation (TSVR) to facilitate the cross-category transfer in transductive ZSL. Our approach draws on an intriguing insight connecting two challenging problems, i.e. domain adaptation and zero-shot learning. Domain adaptation aims to transfer knowledge across two different domains (i.e., source domain and target domain) that share the identical task/label space. For ZSL, the source and target domains have different tasks/label spaces. Hence, ZSL is usually considered as a more difficult transfer setting compared with domain adaptation. Although the existing ZSL approaches use semantic attributes of categories to bridge the source and target domains, their performances are far from satisfactory due to the large domain gap between different categories. In contrast, our method directly transforms ZSL into a domain adaptation task through redrawing ZSL as predicting the similarity/dissimilarity labels for the pairs of semantic attributes and visual features. For this redrawn domain adaptation problem, we propose to use a domain-specific batch normalization component to reduce the domain discrepancy of semantic-visual pairs. Experimental results over diverse ZSL benchmarks clearly demonstrate the superiority of our method

    ERK5 Contributes to VEGF Alteration in Diabetic Retinopathy

    Diabetic retinopathy is one of the most common causes of blindness in North America. Several signaling mechanisms are activated secondary to hyperglycemia in diabetes, leading to activation of vasoactive factors. We investigated a novel pathway, namely extracellular signal regulated kinase 5 (ERK5) mediated signaling, in modulating glucose-induced vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) expression. Human microvascular endothelial cells (HMVEC) were exposed to glucose. In parallel, retinal tissues from streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats were examined after 4 months of follow-up. In HMVECs, glucose caused initial activation followed by deactivation of ERK5 and its downstream mediators myocyte enhancing factor 2C (MEF2C) and Kruppel-like factor 2 (KLF2) mRNA expression. ERK5 inactivation further led to augmented VEGF mRNA expression. Furthermore, siRNA mediated ERK5 gene knockdown suppressed MEF2C and KLF2 expression and increased VEGF expression and angiogenesis. On the other hand, constitutively active MEK5, an activator of ERK5, increased ERK5 activation and ERK5 and KLF2 mRNA expression and attenuated basal- and glucose-induced VEGF mRNA expression. In the retina of diabetic rats, depletion of ERK5, KLF2 and upregulation of VEGF mRNA were demonstrated. These results indicated that ERK5 depletion contributes to glucose induced increased VEGF production and angiogenesis. Hence, ERK5 may be a putative therapeutic target to modulate VEGF expression in diabetic retinopathy

    Characterizing Immunoglobulin Repertoire from Whole Blood by a Personal Genome Sequencer

    In human immune system, V(D)J recombination produces an enormously large repertoire of immunoglobulins (Ig) so that they can tackle different antigens from bacteria, viruses and tumor cells. Several studies have demonstrated the utility of next-generation sequencers such as Roche 454 and Illumina Genome Analyzer to characterize the repertoire of immunoglobulins. However, these techniques typically require separation of B cell population from whole blood and require a few weeks for running the sequencers, so it may not be practical to implement them in clinical settings. Recently, the Ion Torrent personal genome sequencer has emerged as a tabletop personal genome sequencer that can be operated in a time-efficient and cost-effective manner. In this study, we explored the technical feasibility to use multiplex PCR for amplifying V(D)J recombination for IgH, directly from whole blood, then sequence the amplicons by the Ion Torrent sequencer. The whole process including data generation and analysis can be completed in one day. We tested the method in a pilot study on patients with benign, atypical and malignant meningiomas. Despite the noisy data, we were able to compare the samples by their usage frequencies of the V segment, as well as their somatic hypermutation rates. In summary, our study suggested that it is technically feasible to perform clinical monitoring of V(D)J recombination within a day by personal genome sequencers

    A road adhesion coefficient-tire cornering stiffness normalization method combining a fractional-order multi-variable gray model with a LSTM network and vehicle direct yaw-moment robust control

    A normalization method of road adhesion coefficient and tire cornering stiffness is proposed to provide the significant information for vehicle direct yaw-moment control (DYC) system design. This method is carried out based on a fractional-order multi-variable gray model (FOMVGM) and a long short-term memory (LSTM) network. A FOMVGM is used to generate training data and testing data for LSTM network, and LSTM network is employed to predict tire cornering stiffness with road adhesion coefficient. In addition to that, tire cornering stiffness represented by road adhesion coefficient can be used to built vehicle lateral dynamic model and participate in DYC robust controller design. Simulations under different driving cycles are carried out to demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed normalization method of road adhesion coefficient and tire cornering stiffness and vehicle DYC robust control system, respectively

    IL-17A Upregulates Keratin 17 Expression in Keratinocytes through STAT1- and STAT3-Dependent Mechanisms

    Psoriasis, an immunological skin disease, is characterized by epidermal hyperproliferation, chronic inflammation, and an accumulation of infiltrating T cells. IL-17A is a key cytokine that has a critical role in the pathogenesis of psoriasis. Keratin 17 (K17) is strongly expressed in psoriatic lesions but not in normal skin. Thus, K17 expression is regarded as a hallmark of psoriasis. We previously reported that the K17/T cells/cytokine autoimmune loop was involved in psoriasis. However, the relationship between IL-17A and K17 has yet to be determined. In the present study, IL-17A-induced K17 expression was confirmed in cultured keratinocytes in both mRNA and protein levels. In addition, increased K17 expression was found in the epidermis of IL-17A-injected mouse skin. The regulatory mechanism of K17 expression was further investigated. We found that both the signal transducer and activator of transcription (STAT) 1 and STAT3 pathways were involved in the upregulation of K17 expression induced by IL-17A, and that such regulation could be partially suppressed by STAT1 or STAT3 small interfering RNA and inhibitor. Our data suggest that IL-17A can upregulate K17 expression in keratinocytes in a dose-dependent manner through STAT1- and STAT3-dependent mechanisms. The results indicate that IL-17A might be an important cytokine in the K17/T cells/cytokine autoimmune loop associated with psoriasis

    The Spin of New Black Hole Candidate: MAXI J1803-298 Observed by NuSTAR and NICER

    MAXI J1803-298, a newly-discovered Galactic transient and black hole candidate, was first detected by \emph{MAXI}/GSC on May 1st, 2021. In this paper, we present a detailed spectral analysis of MAXI J1803-298. Utilizing the X-ray reflection fitting method, we perform a joint fit to the spectra of MAXI J1803-298, respectively, observed by \emph{NuSTAR} and \emph{NICER}/XTI on the same day over the energy range between 0.7-79.0 keV, and found its spin (and the inclination angle i) can be constrained to be close to an extreme value, 0.991 (ii\sim 7070 ^{\circ}), at 68\% confidence interval. The results suggest that MAXI J1803-298 may be a fast-rotating black hole with a large inclination angle.Comment: 6 pages, 5 figure
