    COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF THE RECENT EVOLUTIONS OF ROMANIAN AND EUROPEAN UNION'S COMPETITIVENESS

    The main subject of this paper refers to an analysis of the recent trends and evolution of Romanian competitiveness compared to the European Union competitiveness and it is structured in four main parts. The first section of the paper regards an introduction of the competitiveness evolution process, recalling the three actual evaluation models of the competitiveness level. In the second part of the paper there can be found the competitiveness indexes practiced and published by the World Economic Forum, indicators that are structured on three main levels as following: the Global Competitiveness Index and its aggregate indicators that are developed on three categories of factors that are essential for the competitiveness process (Basic requirements, Efficienty Enhancers, Innovation and sophistication factors) and the indexes associated to the twelve pillars of competitiveness: Institutions, Infrastructure, Macroeconomic stability, Health and primary education, Higer education and training, Goods market efficiency, Labor market efficiency, Financial market sophistication Technological readiness, Market size, Business sophistication, Innovation. Based on the values obtained after consulting the World Economic Forum Reports and regarding the competitiveness from a global perspective, the third part of the paper presents a comparative analyisis of the evolution of the Romanian competitiveness process and the one of the EU25. The second part of the article presents the results of the compatibility analysis and the impact study of EU’s sustainable development strategies on the competitiveness indexes.     This study deepens and further concretizes an analysis conducted in a prior study highlighting Romania’s goals and objectives in comparison with the sustainable development principles established through the adoption of the European Green Deal (EGD) at the European Union (EU) level. The second section of this paper presents this study’s methodology, aiming to highlight the quantification of the compatibility of the targets of Romania’s pertinent strategies with the EGD after evoking the principles of sustainable development (SD) and—in this context—the importance of achieving the objectives set by the EGD. The third section of this paper presents our findings, and the final section offers conclusions drawn from our analysis

    The industry remains the most important sector of the national economy, although in the other member states the services have a more important share of GDP. In this context, the level of industrial competitiveness is essential for the national competitiveness. This is a characteristic feature for Romania, where the industry has an important share in the GDP, in comparison with the other member states. The international trade balance is an important indicator for measuring the economic competitiveness, especially the industrial competitiveness. Our country has an obvious deficit regarding the international trade balance and thus the analysis of this subject is very relevant at a sectorial level and at national economy’s branches level, when identifying solutions for raising the competitiveness. This paper is dedicated to studying Romania’s industrial competitiveness analysis throughout the recent values of the imports and exports, generated by the industry and its branches. After identifying this concern utility, this article presents the methodology used, defining and experiencing the indicators proposed for characterising the level of industrial competitiveness and also the level and dynamic of the industrial trade. In the practical part of this paper, we presented the recent evolution of the values of imports and exports for the industrial products, the share of industrial sectors in the international trade balance, particularizing the manufacturing industry – the most important industrial sector – at branch level. In the analysis of the manufacturing industry we proposed a classifying methodology divided in six levels of competitiveness, associating and characterizing the branches. The conclusions present the possible solutions for improving the Romanian international industrial trade balance

    Conservation of cultural heritage and tourism are closely related, since historic monuments and sites constitute basic resources to attract visitors. In our capacity of conservators, we have usually worked to preserve the tangible substance of heritage as a means to preserve values. But when the values may differ according to different stakeholders or interested public, among them tourists, we face new challenges related in some case to the proper use of heritage or to the proper interpretation of those values by local communities and visitors. Dedication of cultural heritage to tourism may produce benefits but also some risks if proper planning is not in place; among them the surpassing of the carrying capacity, problems with interpretation of heritage’s values and meanings and the process of gentrification. In this framework, the purpose of this paper is presenting some reflections on the relationship of cultural heritage and tourism and on the role and impact of cultural tourism on heritage conservation.Facultad de Ciencias Económica

    Energy Performance Analysis of a Heat Supply System of a University Campus

    The energy efficiency of a system and the performance level of its equipment and installations are the two key elements based on which the investment decision in its modernization is made. They are also very important for setting up optimal operation strategies. The energy audit is a well-known and worldwide recognized tool for calculating energy performance indicators and developing improvement measures. This paper is a synthesis of the energy audit results performed for a district heating network that uses geothermal energy as its primary source of energy. The location of the heating system is inside a university campus. The first part explains the necessity of a comprehensive study on district heating networks and introduces the defining elements that characterize the analyzed equipment and installations. The complex energy balance methodology that has been developed and applied to this district heating system is presented in the second part of the paper. Next, the methodology for collecting the input data for the energy and mass balance is explained. In the final part, the numerical values of the performance indicators and the technical measures that must be applied to improve energy efficiency are shown, and conclusions are drawn
