A questionnaire titled “User Perception of the Quality of Service of GSMService Providers In Ibadan, Nigeria” was designed to solicit responses from users. Responses are presented usingdescriptive statistics and data alaysed using inferential statistics (chi square). As internet usage continue to expand and advance, social interaction which is the primary vehicle through whichadvancement of ICT affects socio-economic outcomes has remained one of the most popular engagements on the world wideweb. However, the perceived anonymity of on-line interactions diminishes the sense of responsibility that is experiencedwhen communication occurs in-person. Although anonymity is characterized as the essence of users’ privacy, theperceptions of anonymity online provides a means for invasion of privacy (Saldarini & Roberts, 2003). Using a selfdesignedresearch instrument titled “ICT-Induced Anonymity and Its Impact of Social Interactions in Nigeria”, data wasgathered and analysed. Results from the analysis of empirical data revealed that While most users are aware of theanonymity problem, without accurate data the degree of the problem has been unknown. This has hampered the primaryattempts to convince users of the effect of ICT-Induced anonymity. The paper concludes by proffering possible solutions toethical menace pervading social interaction on the internet.Key words: Keywords: ICTs, Anonimity, Social Interraction, Nigeria, Internet

The upsurge in the use of the information and communication technology (ICT) facilities such the Global System forMobile Communication (GSM) and the Internet for criminal activities like spamming, credit card frauds, sex crimes, phishing and a host of others lends credence to the view that ICT is contributing to moral and social decadence. Concern isreinforced by the increase in the level of ICT penetration in the Nigerian society and Africa at large. ICT products continueto allow increasing access to spurious web contents such as pornography and violence. Some schools of thoughts alreadyposited that exposure of internet users to web pornography might contribute to the increase in the incidence of HIV/AIDS(Emeozor 2005, Katherine, 2006, Adebayo et al, 2006). Using a self-constructed questionnaire titled: Focus Groupsperception of Internet-Induced HIV/AIDS Incidences in Nigeria we solicited responses on the perceived relationshipbetween internet pornography and the possible increase in the incidence of HIV/AIDS as well as the effectiveness of currentdeterrents adopted against web pornography in Southwestern Nigeria. Findings from the analysis of collected data using chisquare-analysis, regression and other descriptive measures showed that internet pornography will likely lead to possibleincrease in the incidence of HIV/AIDS in Nigeria. Content channeling technology is also adjudged to be a better predictorfor reduction in web-pornography induced incidences of HIV/AIDS in Nigeria than Public enlightenment on sex education, parental guidance and web content filters. Recommendations were made based on our findings. Keywords: Pornography, Sexualities, Children, HIV/AIDS, Adolescents, Nigeria, Internet, Youths, CP80, Educatio

Research Outputs from Nigerian Tertiary Institutions: An Empirical Appraisal

Research output published in reputable journals remains one of the the main criteria for ranking institutions across the world. Research findings contribute meaningfully to improved products, services, human life, and productivity. Anyanwu and Iloeje (1996) observe a gradual decline in research output from the Nigerian higher education sector from the late 1980s to the present. This paper is an empirical study using journals randomly selected from African Journals Online (AJOL). The data were analysed using Cochran\u27s Test and T-test for comparative pair treatments. Findings reveal that there is no significant decline in research output and effectiveness from Nigerian universities, but Nigerian polytechnics were found to have a lower research output
