Data for assessment of soil water extractable and percolation water dissolved organic carbon in watersheds

    No full text
This data article presents water extractable organic carbon (WEOC), percolation water dissolved organic carbon (pDOC), and antecedent precipitation indices (API) and mean antecedent temperature (MAT) data. The article also presents edaphic properties, such as soil texture elements, total organic carbon (TOC), total nitrogen (TN), cation exchange capacity (CEC), iron (Fe), and aluminum (Al). Additionally, the article presents topography attributes, including topographic position index (TPI) and curvature. All these data were used to analyze both WEOC and pDOC dynamics in the Rukarara River Watershed (RRW), Rwanda. WEOC and soil properties data were analyzed from 52 soil composites samples collected from October to December 2016 using 53x50 mm rings. Data of pDOC were analyzed from percolation water samples collected using a zero tension lysimeters on various dates during the period from Jun 2015 to Jun 2017. Antecedent precipitation index (API) and mean temperature (MAT) data for various antecedent days were calculated on basis of rainfall and air temperature data recorded at three stations within the RRW using tipping bucket rain gauges and sensors installed at three sites located at the main land use/land cover classes within the RRW

Provided data presented in this article data include monthly LDOC per LULC (Table 1), monthly LDOC per site (Table 2), biweekly and monthly stream DOC (Table 3), soil properties such as percent content of clay, silt, sand, total organic carbon (TOC), total nitrogen (TN), cation exchange capacity (CEC) (Table 4), soil hydrological properties (Table 5), rainfall characteristics including rainfall amount and rainfall intensity (Table 6), and rainfall soil storage and runoff (Table 7) for the RRW. All data were used to analyze DOC leaching dynamics and identify their potential implications for stream DOC in the watershed. Additionally, the data can be used for soil and inland water degradation analysis, and therefore for developing a better understanding of the effects of ongoing environmental change on terrestrial and aquatic ecosystem function.THIS DATASET IS ARCHIVED AT DANS/EASY, BUT NOT ACCESSIBLE HERE.
