Eyes on Romania: what to look when investing here?
In this paper we identify a framework of the main macroeconomic indicators an investor must look when investing in a country, depending on his activity business sector. Using a qualitative method of research on the Romanian case in period of 2000-2010, we establish that a series of leading indicators, as Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth rate, inflation rate and industrial production, are appropriate to get a brief snapshot of the economic outlook of a country. The following period, since 2011 to 2014, confirm our results. Beside the traditional indicators, we set as significant the degree of business cycles synchronization with the European Union (EU) in order to predict the next path of the Romanian economy. We use a structural divergence index for assessing the similarity of economic structure between Romania and EU. The results of this study confirm that Romania lags behind EU, offering the possibility to decide the next step of an investor’s business strategy.foreign direct investment; leading indicators; business cycles synchronization
Generating optimized Fourier interpolation routines for density function theory using SPIRAL
© 2015 IEEE.Upsampling of a multi-dimensional data-set is an operation with wide application in image processing and quantum mechanical calculations using density functional theory. For small up sampling factors as seen in the quantum chemistry code ONETEP, a time-shift based implementation that shifts samples by a fraction of the original grid spacing to fill in the intermediate values using a frequency domain Fourier property can be a good choice. Readily available highly optimized multidimensional FFT implementations are leveraged at the expense of extra passes through the entire working set. In this paper we present an optimized variant of the time-shift based up sampling. Since ONETEP handles threading, we address the memory hierarchy and SIMD vectorization, and focus on problem dimensions relevant for ONETEP. We present a formalization of this operation within the SPIRAL framework and demonstrate auto-generated and auto-tuned interpolation libraries. We compare the performance of our generated code against the previous best implementations using highly optimized FFT libraries (FFTW and MKL). We demonstrate speed-ups in isolation averaging 3x and within ONETEP of up to 15%
THE EVOLUTION OF THE FITOSANITARY STATUS OF THE STORED APPLES IN NATURAL CONDITIONS
The researches took place in natural conditions of storage from October to March, and were aimed at two apple cultivars: Jonathan and Golden delicious. We had determinate the field and storage mycological flora which produces rotten stuff. The cultivar Golden
delicious behaved as resistant in the storage period; the frequency (F%), the intensity (I%) and the degree of attack (D.A%) was low, for example the degree of attack in March touched 5,52%. The cultivar Jonathan breaked down after three month of storage, the frequency of attack being above 30%

The evaluation of liver fibrosis regression in chronic hepatitis C patients after the treatment with direct-acting antiviral agents – A review of the literature
The second-generation of direct-acting antiviral agents are the current treatment for chronic viral hepatitis C infection. To evaluate the regression of liver fibrosis in patients receiving this therapy, liver biopsy remains the most accurate method, but the invasiveness of this procedure is its major drawback. Different non-invasive tests have been used to study changes in the stage of liver fibrosis in patients with chronic viral hepatitis treated with the second-generation of direct-acting antiviral agents: liver stiffness measurements (with transient elastography or acoustic radiation force impulse elastography) or different scores that use serum markers to calculate a fibrosis score. We prepared a literature review of the available data regarding the long-term evolution of liver fibrosis after the treatment with direct-acting antiviral agents for chronic viral hepatitis C
Distributed Memory, GPU Accelerated Fock Construction for Hybrid, Gaussian Basis Density Functional Theory
With the growing reliance of modern supercomputers on accelerator-based
architectures such a GPUs, the development and optimization of electronic
structure methods to exploit these massively parallel resources has become a
recent priority. While significant strides have been made in the development of
GPU accelerated, distributed memory algorithms for many-body (e.g.
coupled-cluster) and spectral single-body (e.g. planewave, real-space and
finite-element density functional theory [DFT]), the vast majority of
GPU-accelerated Gaussian atomic orbital methods have focused on shared memory
systems with only a handful of examples pursuing massive parallelism on
distributed memory GPU architectures. In the present work, we present a set of
distributed memory algorithms for the evaluation of the Coulomb and
exact-exchange matrices for hybrid Kohn-Sham DFT with Gaussian basis sets via
direct density-fitted (DF-J-Engine) and seminumerical (sn-K) methods,
respectively. The absolute performance and strong scalability of the developed
methods are demonstrated on systems ranging from a few hundred to over one
thousand atoms using up to 128 NVIDIA A100 GPUs on the Perlmutter
supercomputer.Comment: 45 pages, 9 figure
