A research study was carried out from April to July 1999, on brackishwater ponds in Bengkalis Island, Riau Province, Indonesia. Observations and samplings were taken from three stations. Six nitrifying bacteria were isolated from ammonium oxidizer and four from nitrite oxidizer. The nitrifying bacteria activity varied from 0,024 to 0,092 ppm/day for ammonia oxidizer, and from 0,032 to 0,052 ppm/day for nitrite oxidizer. These nitrifying bacteria can reduce the ammonia concentration; in the brackish water ponds. In the absence of nitrifying bacteria, the ammonia concentration was so toxic, it was killed the shrimp at 31 days after samplin

This research was conducted to test the antimicrobial activity of bacteriocin isolates of probiotic bacteria isolated from giant prawns (Macrobrachium rosenbergii). The method used was experiment method with tested the inhibition against pathogenic bacteria (Vibrio alginolyticus, Aeromonas hydrophila and Pseudomonas stutzeri). The results showed that bacteriocin capable of inhibiting the growth of pathogenic bacteria of P. stutzeri, A. hydrophila and V. alginolyticus. The best isolates obtained from results of this research was UG4 with clear zones ranging from 7.2 to 11.4 mm and the inhibition activity of 1476.53 mm²/mL after fragmentation with (NH4)2SO4 against pathogenic bacteria P. stutzeri was incubated at room temperature (37°C). This inhibition was caused by the presence of antimicrobial compounds that are produced by probiotic bacteria, namely bacteriocin. For isolates UG2 codes, the bacteria was resistant in which characterized by the formation of bluring zone around the paper disc

The most commonly used method of vektor control is temephos (the synthetic larvicide). Currently in some areas there has been resistance of aedes aegypti larvae to temephos, so that natural larvicide is required as an alternative. Nypa exctract contains flavonoid compounds that are respiratory toxins that can kill aedes aegypty larvae. This research was conducted in January - February 2019. The purpose of this study was to determine the inhibitory power of nipah extract against larvae in brackhish water. The results of this study are expected to increase knowledge and provide information about the pontential of nipah as a soursce of bioactive compounds. The method used is the experimental method, where the location of the research sampel was obtained at one sampling location point in the Sungai Kayu Ara village, Siak Riau province. The results showed that the average mortality of larvae in nipah laeves in the 60th minute was 55, 80, 100 and 100%. While root extracts have larvae deaths as many as 60 minutes, namely 100, 90, 90, and 100%. For the average mortality of larvae at the root of nipah there are 60 minutes, which are 95, 100, 100 and 100%. As wel as positive and negative controls as a comparison. So it can be compared to 3 administration of nipah extract both leaves, roots and midrib so that the three conncentrations used are better than the use of midrib extract compared to leaf and root extract. It can be concluded that the more concentration used the higher the mortality of larvae is the concentration of 12%. For the concentration used the percentage of larvae mortality in the test media is as much as 6%, 9% and 12%. Every death of larvae has reristance to different bodies so that at the 30th minute there is a difference in mortality of larvae wich a given concentration. The larvae species used are aedes aegyti larvae. The highest mortality of dead es was found in midrib extract and also positive controls. So that the death of larvae is very effective against the given solution has the same ability. The mortality of A. aegypti larvae were then analyzed using probit analysis to obtain LC50 (Lethal Concentration 50) and LT50 (Lethal Time 50) values. The results of the probit analysis of leaf, root and midrib extracts are the estimation of LC50 1.493, 2.618, 0.005. while leaf , root and midrib extracts at the LT50 estimate were 2.841, 1.579, 2.22

Heterotrophic bacteria have a role as decomposer of organic compounds (mineralization) and inorganic nitrogen (ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate) derived from industrial waste, decomposition of uneaten feed, faecal, excretion of fish and have the ability to inhibit the growth of pathogenic bacteria. This research was conducted in November untill December 2016. The results of antagonism test showed isolated bacteria have the ability to inhibit the growth of pathogenic bacteria (Vibrio algynolyticus, Aeromonas hydrophila and Pseudomonas sp.) Zone of inhibition in D5, D6 and D4 isolates classified in the strong category with zone of inhibition average of 10.5 to 11.8 mm and zone of inhibition in D1, D2, D3, D5, D7 isolates classified in the medium category with zone of inhibition average of 5.3 to 8.5 mm and each of the isolates are also classified in the weak category. The results of DNA analysis of heterotrophic bacteria isolated from marine waters of industrial area and low salinity of estuarine waters by using the PCR method technique 16S sequences found three strains of bacteria from the highest level of homology Bacillus toyonensis, Bacillus cereus and Bacillus pseudomycoides. D1 isolates has similarity to Bacillus cereus strain ASK16, D2 isolates to Bacillus toyonensis strain AC OPR1150Xg, D3 isolates to Bacillus pseudomycoides strain F1-8, D4 isolates to Bacillus cereus strain SBFW51, D5 isolates to Bacillus cereus strain OPP5 3-2, D6 to Bacillus cereus strain SBFW5S, D7 isolates to Bacillus cereus strain B4. Most of isolated bacteria obtained from the waters of industrial area because it receives much of nutrients that are very influential in the growth of bacteria
