A survey on the feasibility of sound classification on wireless sensor nodes

Wireless sensor networks are suitable to gain context awareness for indoor environments. As sound waves form a rich source of context information, equipping the nodes with microphones can be of great benefit. The algorithms to extract features from sound waves are often highly computationally intensive. This can be problematic as wireless nodes are usually restricted in resources. In order to be able to make a proper decision about which features to use, we survey how sound is used in the literature for global sound classification, age and gender classification, emotion recognition, person verification and identification and indoor and outdoor environmental sound classification. The results of the surveyed algorithms are compared with respect to accuracy and computational load. The accuracies are taken from the surveyed papers; the computational loads are determined by benchmarking the algorithms on an actual sensor node. We conclude that for indoor context awareness, the low-cost algorithms for feature extraction perform equally well as the more computationally-intensive variants. As the feature extraction still requires a large amount of processing time, we present four possible strategies to deal with this problem

Sem obstar, os empréstimos e créditos fornecidos pelas instituições financeiras podem incentivar a implantação e/ou operação de empreendimento e projetos potencialmente poluidores. Considerando os lucros e proveitos dessas transações financeiras, as instituições podem ser consideradas poluidores indiretos e, portanto, devem ser responsabilizadas pelo dano ambiental causado. Por meio de pesquisa bibliográfica e documental, este trabalho almejou discorrer sobre a extensão responsabilidade civil ambiental das entidades financeiras pelo dano ambiental causado por tomadores de crédito. O estudo apresenta a argumentação de diversos autores que divergem sobre a responsabilização objetiva ou subjetiva das entidades financeiras, o momento de comprovação do licenciamento ambiental e cumprimento da legislação aplicável pelos empreendimentos e a extensão das análises que devem ser feitas pelas instituições financeira

Mutagenese sítio dirigida do domínio n-terminal da proteína Nifa de Herbaspirillum seropedicae

Curso de Graduaçao em Ciencias BiológicasResumo : Herbaspirillum seropedicae é um organismo fixador de nitrogênio (diazotrófico) que possui potencial aplicação como fertilizante biológico. A regulação da expressão dos genes que codificam proteínas/enzimas envolvidas na fixação de nitrogênio, genes nif, é dependente do controle da expressão e atividade da proteína NifA. Nos diazotrofos, esta proteína atua como ativador transcricional de promotores genes nif (JN dependentes. A proteína NifA apresenta três domínios estruturais: o domínio C-terminai com um motivo héiice-voita-héiice altamente conservado e responsável pela ligação ao DNA; o dominio Central com um motivo de ligação de ATP e envo~vido na interação com a subunidade sigma da RNA polimerase e na formação o complexo aberto; e o domínio N-terminal, que apresenta o menor grau de similaridade entre as proteínas NifA e está envolvido no controle da atividade por nitrogênio fixado. A atividade da NifA em H. seropedicae é controlada por amônia e oxigênio. O controle por amônia está relacionado ao domínio N-terminal, uma vez que a proteína sem este domínio é ativa na ausência de oxigênio, independente dos níveis de amônia. Para ampliar a compreensão, a nível molecular, do mecanismo de controle por amônia do domínio N-termina!, aiguns aminoácidos foram substituídos através de mutagênese sítio-dirigida deste domínio. Após a comparação da seqüência de aminoácidos da NifA de Azospirillum brasilense, Rhodobacter capsulatus e H. seropedicae, os resíduos de valina nas posições 40 e 138 foram escolhidos para substituição por ácido giutâmico. A seqüência de nucieotídeos do domínio Nterminal da NifA selvagem de H. seropedicae foi clonada no vetor de expressão pET28a, originando o plasmideo pLET. Este plasmídeo foi utilizado como DNA molde nas amplificações do domínio N-etrminal da NifA e será utilizado como controle das mutagêneses sítio-dirigida e dos posteriores testes fisiológicos. O estudo dos efeitos das mutações sítio-dirigidas contribuirá para a melhor compreensão do mecanismo de controie do domínio N-terminal da NifA de H. seropedicae pelo nitrogênio
