    A survey on the feasibility of sound classification on wireless sensor nodes

    Wireless sensor networks are suitable to gain context awareness for indoor environments. As sound waves form a rich source of context information, equipping the nodes with microphones can be of great benefit. The algorithms to extract features from sound waves are often highly computationally intensive. This can be problematic as wireless nodes are usually restricted in resources. In order to be able to make a proper decision about which features to use, we survey how sound is used in the literature for global sound classification, age and gender classification, emotion recognition, person verification and identification and indoor and outdoor environmental sound classification. The results of the surveyed algorithms are compared with respect to accuracy and computational load. The accuracies are taken from the surveyed papers; the computational loads are determined by benchmarking the algorithms on an actual sensor node. We conclude that for indoor context awareness, the low-cost algorithms for feature extraction perform equally well as the more computationally-intensive variants. As the feature extraction still requires a large amount of processing time, we present four possible strategies to deal with this problem

    Este artigo é um recorte de uma pesquisa a nível de mestrado realizada no Centro de Socioeducação de Ponta Grossa – PR, que visou estudar a variedade linguística praticada pelos internos da instituição. Desse modo, o presente artigo, através de um viés qualitativo e de um prisma etnográfico, visa identificar e analisar a ocorrência de situações de discriminação vivenciadas por adolescentes em cumprimento de medidas socioeducativas de privação de liberdade, em decorrência do uso da gíria. A etapa de geração e coleta de dados foi realizada pelo próprio autor por meio da aplicação de entrevistas narrativas, de acordo com a teoria de Tarallo (2003). As análises das narrativas se fundamentaram nos referenciais teóricos de Bagno (2002, 2004), Calvet (2002), Preti (1977, 1984), Bortoni-Ricardo (2005) e Monteagudo (2011), e permitiram constatar que os quatro adolescentes entrevistados enfrentaram situações de discriminação devido ao uso da gíria, sendo que destes, dois a vivenciaram no ambiente escolar. &nbsp

    Tämän opinnäytetyön tavoitteena oli tehdä esiselvitys ammattikorkeakoulun konetekniikan laboratorioympäristöön soveltuvista tuotetiedon hallintajärjestelmän ja toiminnanohjausjärjestelmän ominaisuuksista, määrittelystä ja valintaperusteista. Tarkoituksena oli tarjota oppimisympäristön toteuttamista varten oleellista tietoa. Työ tehtiin toimeksiantona Lapin ammattikorkeakoululle osana tammikuussa 2018 käynnistynyttä Älypaja-hanketta. Älypaja-hankkeessa Lapin ammattikorkeakoulu haluaa uudistaa Kemin kampuksen konetekniikan oppimis- ja kehittämisympäristöä nykyaikaisten vaatimusten mukaiseksi. Älypaja-hankkeen myötä Lapin ammattikorkeakoulun konetekniikan koulutuksessa siirrytään perinteisestä konepajakulttuurista uudenaikaiseen digitaaliseen tuotanto- ja toimintatapaan. Lisäksi uudella ympäristöllä mahdollistetaan syksyllä 2017 käyttöönotetun uuden opetussuunnitelman mukainen koulutus. Lapin ammattikorkeakoulun uudessa osaamis- ja ongelmaperustaisessa oppimisnäkemyksessä korostuu projektimuotoinen oppiminen ja työelämälähtöisyys. Työn teoriaosuudessa käsiteltiin tuotetiedon hallintaa, toiminnan- ja valmistuksenohjausta sekä niissä käytettäviä tietojärjestelmiä. Lisäksi tarkasteltiin yleisellä tasolla tuotetiedon hallinta- ja toiminnanohjausjärjestelmien ominaisuuksia, hankintaa ja mahdollista järjestelmäintegraatiota. Työssä esitellään myös kehitteillä olevia tai jo vastikään uudistettuja konetekniikan koulutuksen oppimisympäristöjä suomalaisissa ja saksalaisissa ammattikorkeakouluissa. Korkeakouluesimerkeillä saatiin tärkeää lisäarvoa Lapin ammattikorkeakoulun oppimisympäristön toteuttamiselle. Työn tuloksena saatiin ehdotus, miten Lapin ammattikorkeakoulun kannattaisi jatkaa oppimisympäristön kehityshankkeessaan. Lisäksi selvitettiin oppimisympäristön toteutuksessa huomioitavat asiat ja seuraavat mahdolliset vaiheet kehityshankkeessa.The aim of this Bachelor's thesis was to conduct a preliminary study on the requirements, selection criteria and definition of ERP system and PDM system solutions suitable for the Mechanical Engineering Lab in the context of University of Applied Sciences. The work was commissioned by Lapland University of Applied Sciences as part of the Älypaja project launched in January 2018. In the Älypaja project, Lapland University of Applied Sciences aims to modernize the learning and development environment for Mechanical Engineering Lab in the Kemi campus. During the Älypaja project, the mechanical engineering education provided in Lapland University of Applied Sciences will transform from traditional machine shop culture to modern digital production and working methods. In addition, the new environment will enable training in accordance with the new curriculum introduced in autumn 2017. The new knowledge and problem-based learning vision of Lapland University of Applied Sciences emphasizes project-based learning and work-life orientation. The theoretical part of the thesis introduced product information management, enterprise resource planning and related information systems. In addition, the characteristics of product information management and ERP systems, procurement and possible system integration were presented on a higher level. In addition, the thesis introduced new or already modernized learning environments for Mechanical Engineering in Universities of Applied Sciences in Finland and Germany. These examples provided critical value for the implementation of the learning environment in Lapland University of Applied Sciences. As a summary, the objective was to provide essential information for the implementation of the learning environment. The outcome of the thesis was a proposal on how Lapland University of Applied Sciences should continue to pursue its learning environment development project. In addition, the issues that should be considered in the implementation of the learning environment and the possible next steps in the development project were presented
