    A survey on tasks performed in eldercare

    In the Netherlands, a vast increase of the expenses on eldercare is expected for the future. Currently, an IT system is under development that aims to assist care providers with their tasks in providing care services. Before such a system can be used in practice, insight is needed on the current work situation in eldercare. This paper presents interview surveys on tasks currently performed by professionals in two nursing houses. Both the professional population and details on how it spends its time are described. Little room is observed for automating tasks in nursing and/or caring houses

    Health monitoring and healthcare provisioning at home (i.e., outside the hospital) have received increasingly attention as a possible and partial solution for addressing the problems of an aging population. There are still many technological issues that need to be solved before home healthcare systems can be really cost-effective and efficient. However, in this paper we will highlight another category of issues which we call architectural challenges. Each patient is unique, and each patient has a unique lifestyle, living environment and course of life. Therefore it should be possible to personalize the services provided by home healthcare systems according to the needs and preferences of each individual patient, and it should be possible to make incremental adaptations at later points in time if this is necessary due to, for example, a changing health condition. The architectural challenges and solution directions related to this has been discussed in this paper

    UNSUPERVISED DYNAMIC TOPIC MODEL FOR EXTRACTING ADVERSE DRUG REACTION FROM HEALTH FORUMS

    The relationship between drug and its side effects has been outlined in two websites: Sider and WebMD. The aim of this study was to find the association between drug and its side effects. We compared the reports of typical users of a web site called: "Ask a patient" website with reported drug side effects in reference sites such as Sider and WebMD. In addition, the typical users' comments on highly-commented drugs (Neurotic drugs, Anti-Pregnancy drugs and Gastrointestinal drugs) were analyzed, using deep learning method. To this end, typical users' comments on drugs' side effects, during last decades, were collected from the website “Ask a patient”. Then, the data on drugs were classified based on deep learning model (HAN) and the drugs' side effect. And the main topics of side effects for each group of drugs were identified and reported, through Sider and WebMD websites. Our model demonstrates its ability to accurately describe and label side effects in a temporal text corpus by a deep learning classifier which is shown to be an effective method to precisely discover the association between drugs and their side effects. Moreover, this model has the capability to immediately locate information in reference sites to recognize the side effect of new drugs, applicable for drug companies. This study suggests that the sensitivity of internet users and the diverse scientific findings are for the benefit of dis¬tinct detection of adverse effects of drugs, and deep learning would facilitate it

    GIS application for assessment of low-impact development effects on stormwater runoff

    The growing urbanization is typically associated with increasing stormwater runoff and non point source pollution. Low Impact Development (LID) is extended as a new approach for stormwater management. LID components are utilized as supplementary devices besides conventional drainage system in urban areas to decrease the runoff and remove the non point source (NPS) pollution from the stormwater. In the previous studies, various hydrologic models are driven to calculate the volume of stormwater and NPS pollution. In addition, some prior literatures discussed the LID effects on the quality and quantity of stormwater runoff but most of those researches are restricted to LID site design and LID landscape. In this project, a fuzzy GIS model based on the LID site design criteria and hydrology principles introduced to find the suitable areas for LID components in the study area. To evaluate the accuracy of GIS fuzzy technique, a dynamic rainfall-runoff simulation model (SWMM) is exploited to derive the peak flows of conventional drainage system. The comparison between the results of two models, illustrates the accuracy of fuzzy criteria and their weights. Also, analyses are performed to calculate the effects of LID on amount of runoff and NPS pollution. A simple GIS model is used to estimate the NPS pollution in the study Area. According to experimental projects, the LID component effects on pollution and amount of runoff are calculated by the removal fraction. The final results show LID is a very effective in removing NPS pollution and runoff stormwater although its capability to absorb runoff in flash flood isn’t very reliable
