Arrangement for solo mezzo-soprano or baritone voice with piano accompaniment of Ethelbert Nevin\u27s popular hymn The Rosary, with French and German translations of the lyrics. The lyrics were written by Robert Cameron Rogers, with the French translation by C. Eschig and German translation by Carl Engel. The song premiered in 1898. Waterborne polyurethane wood coatings based on rapeseed fatty acid methyl esters

Trends in wood coatings are driven to waterborne systems and to renewable resources. Vegetable oils are well known for wood coatings, e.g. alkyds or polyurethane dispersions. In this context fatty acid methyl ester (biodiesel) turns out to be an alternative to technical fatty acids and vegetable oils. High contents on hydrophobic oil based monomers require a sufficient understanding of the dispersion stability. This study shows the influence of hydrophobic monomers, ionic centers, degree of neutralization, and stirring procedure to the particle size distribution and dispersion stability. Furthermore, the impact of these parameters to the resulting coating film properties was investigated

New fatty acid based monomers for waterborne polyurethane wood coatings

Trends in wood coatings are driven to waterborne systems and to renewable resources. Vegetable oils are well known for wood coatings, e.g. alkyds or polyurethane dispersions. In this context fatty acid methyl ester and derivatives thereof turn out to be an alternative to technical fatty acids and vegetable oils. High contents on hydrophobic oil based monomers improve hydrophobic and oleophobic properties. In this study the synthesis of fatty acid methyl ester derivatives, the preparation of coating resin and the final coating formulation are described. Two types of waterborne coating resins, two-pack system and UV-curing, were applied on beech wood samples to investigate the impact to the resulting coating film properties
