    The earthing system is a system that should be applied in substations. Its function is to protect both humans and equipments are located around the substation of the danger caused by electrical system fault. The fault that often occurs is short circuit to ground which can cause different voltage gradient between points around the substation. The earthing system is expected to overcome the problems occurred, so that in its design should follow applicable standards. The design of the earthing system at 150/20 kV substation refers to the IEEE Std 80-2000. In this paper, earthing system is designed based on the field datas are extracted from substation Garuda Sakti. Based on design verification, its obtained such as following result i.e. mesh voltage 626.38 V, step voltage 344.46 V, length of the conductor grid 2300 m with 0.55 Ω resistance and the conductor achieved in this design able to cover area of 86, 59 mm2.     Pekanbaru city is a city located in an area that has a large enough lightning density level that is equal to 136 days per year with a density of lightning strikes to the ground (Ng) reached19,5128 strikes/ km2/ year. So it can endanger the high buildings as being in PT. TELKOM Pekanbaru. PT. TELKOM Pekanbaru is the central distribution of data throughout the RiauMainland telecommunication, where it needs a reliable protection system. The aim of this study is to introduce a new method introduced in the IEEE publication, IEEE 998TM-2012, on the lightning protection called EGM Eriksson method. This study uses a Eriksson EGM method to analyze the composition of the air terminal building PT. TELKOM Pekanbaru, which will then determine the area of protection of the external lightning protection system All of this analysis is described in three dimensions using Sketchup 2015 and showed good protection results

    Coal-fired power plant can be a source of air pollution if the combustion of coal is not handled properly. The ash from the combustion of coal in a boiler to produce fly ash and bottom ash. Based on this condition, required tools to reduce or control the fly ash. The most effective tool to be used is the electrostatic precipitator (ESP). This observation purposes to Analyze the performance of ESP by the magnitude of the DC voltage used and able to improve the performance of ESP based on the magnitude of the voltage used to changes in emissions. Based on the observations made that the greater the emissions into the ESP, the greater the voltage, which is the actual maximum voltage of 70 kV and a maximum emission incoming (135 mg/Nm3), as well as the efficiency of ESP is also influence by the voltage generated, the greater the voltage generated then the efficiency would be increase
