Optimization of wavelet based OFDM for multipath powerline channel by genetic algorithm

    No full text
Using genetic algorithm (GA), optimal wavelets are obtained to reduce ISI and ICI powers of a wavelet-based orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) system over a practical two path low-voltage powerline channel or two path fading channel by relaxing the perfect quadrate mirror filter (QMF) orthogonality. Optimum wavelet-based OFDM system experiences less interference compared to conventional and Daubechies (Db) wavelet-based OFDM systems. © 2008 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd

Thermal conductivity of polypropylene-based composites with multiwall carbon nanotubes with different diameter and morphology

    No full text
Polypropylene-based composites filled with multiwall carbon nanotubes were prepared using twin-screw extrusion technique. Two types of nanotubes with different diameter, morphology and defectiveness were used as fillers. Influence of MWNT surface composition on properties of the composite was investigated for oxidized nanotubes. Thermal conductivity (TC) of MWNT/PP composites with different MWNT concentration was investigated, showing strong dependence of TC value on the MWNT type and structure, and MWNT content in composite. TC value of 0.55-0.6 W/m × K was achieved for MWNT/PP samples filled with 16 wt.% of low-defective MWNTs with mean diameter 22 nm. © 2012 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved

MUMBAI: multi-person, multimodal board game affect and interaction analysis dataset

    Get PDF
Board games are fertile grounds for the display of social signals, and they provide insights into psychological indicators in multi-person interactions. In this work, we introduce a new dataset collected from four-player board game sessions, recorded via multiple cameras, and containing over 46 hours of visual material. The new MUMBAI dataset is extensively annotated with emotional moments for all game sessions. Additional data comes from personality and game experience questionnaires. Our four-person setup allows the investigation of non-verbal interactions beyond dyadic settings. We present three benchmarks for expression detection and emotion classification and discuss potential research questions for the analysis of social interactions and group dynamics during board games.Methodology and Organisation of Desig
