Adenofibroma of Skene's Duct: A Case Report

    Get PDF
Skene's glands, also known as paraurethral glands, are homologues of the male prostate, in which painless cystic masses and inflammation due to obstruction have been rarely found and reported. In addition, there have been rare reported cases of adenocarcinoma of Skene's glands. Recently, the authors experienced the first case of adenofibroma arising in Skene's glands of a 62-year-old woman with coital pain. Hereby, we present the case with pathologic and immunohistochemical findings and a short review of literature

Public Transportation Service Evaluations Utilizing Seoul Transportation Card Data

    Get PDF
AbstractThis study evaluated transit service performance in Seoul using data collected from the Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) system in Seoul. The distance-based fare system in Seoul allows a maximum of four transfers with no additional charges to encourage transit ridership. In order to analyze the transit transfers, this study developed quantitative indicators for public transportation evaluations differentiated from those of previous studies by the fact that it utilizes data mining techniques which incorporate massive amounts of data (over 10 million transits per day) derived from the smart card system. This study not only carried out an evaluation to improve public transportation quality but provided comparative analysis of the mobility handicapped and an evaluation of public transportation usersā€™ regional equity. This evaluative analysis of Level of Services (LOS) for various items is expected to be adopted for analyzing LOS status and generating improvement priorities and to be utilized as an objective database for public transportation policy decisions

Fecal examinations using the Kato Katz technique were performed on a total of 1,287 villagers (945 students and 342 general inhabitants) of Oddar Meanchey Province, Cambodia in May 2007 and November 2009. The overall intestinal helminth egg positive rate was 23.9%, and the most prevalent helminth species was hookworms (21.6%). Other helminth eggs detected included echinostomes (1.0%), Enterobius vermicularis (0.8%), small trematode eggs (0.7%), which may include Opisthorchis viverrini and Haplorchis spp., and Hymenolepis nana (0.4%). In order to recover adult echinostomes, we treated 2 patients with 10-15 mg/kg praziquantel and purged. Total 14 adult echinostomes, 1 and 13 worms from each patient, were collected. The echinostomes characteristically had 49-51 collar spines and 2 round or slightly lobated testes. They were identified as Echinostoma ilocanum (Garrison, 1908) Odhner, 1911. So far as literature are concerned, this is the first record on the discovery of human E. ilocanum infection in Cambodia

Probabilistic Risk Assessment for FPSO Topside Structures Under Drop Impact: An Application to Pipeline Protections

    No full text
In offshore structural design, it is necessary to evaluate probabilistic risk so that the topside structure has sufficient capacity to resist the effects of accidental loads such as drop impact, helicopter impact, vessel collision, fire, and explosion. Most engineers in the offshore industry, however, have difficulties in estimating a reliable risk value because there are still too many uncertainties in computing the probability of exceeding a target structural damage where the guideline for hazard analysis, which provides design load, is quite well described. Therefore, a framework to compute reasonable probability of structural failure is proposed in this paper. 88 impact scenarios were applied to a pipeline protection system on a topside module of Nexus genetic FPSO in order to perform regression analysis for structural damage. For risk calculation, the hazard analysis in this study is based on the detail engineering report worked by Ramboll Oil & Gas.Copyright Ā© 2011 by ASM

High-Level Production of Bacteriotoxic Phospholipase A1 in Bacterial Host Pseudomonas fluorescens via ABC Transporter-Mediated Secretion and Inducible Expression

    No full text
Bacterial phospholipase A1 (PLA1) is used in various industrial fields because it can catalyze the hydrolysis, esterification, and transesterification of phospholipids to their functional derivatives. It also has a role in the degumming process of crude plant oils. However, bacterial expression of the foreign PLA1-encoding gene was generally hampered because intracellularly expressed PLA1 is inherently toxic and damages the phospholipid membrane. In this study, we report that secretion-based production of recombinant PlaA, a bacterial PLA1 gene, or co-expression of PlaS, an accessory gene, minimizes this harmful effect. We were able to achieve high-level PlaA production via secretion-based protein production. Here, TliD/TliE/TliF, an ABC transporter complex of Pseudomonas fluorescens SIK-W1, was used to secrete recombinant proteins to the extracellular medium. In order to control the protein expression with induction, a new strain of P. fluorescens, which had the lac operon repressor gene lacI, was constructed and named ZYAI strain. The bacteriotoxic PlaA protein was successfully produced in a bacterial host, with help from ABC transporter-mediated secretion, induction-controlled protein expression, and fermentation. The final protein product is capable of degumming oil efficiently, signifying its application potential

    A Reference-Sampling Based Calibration-Free Fractional-N PLL with a PI-Linked Sampling Clock Generator

    No full text
Sampling-based PLLs have become a new research trend due to the possibility of removing the frequency divider (FDIV) from the feedback path, where the FDIV increases the contribution of in-band noise by the factor of dividing ratio square (N2). Between two possible sampling methods, sub-sampling and reference-sampling, the latter provides a relatively wide locking range, as the slower input reference signal is sampled with the faster VCO output signal. However, removal of FDIV makes the PLL not feasible to implement fractional-N operation based on varying divider ratios through random sequence generators, such as a Delta-Sigma-Modulator (DSM). To address the above design challenges, we propose a reference-sampling-based calibration-free fractional-N PLL (RSFPLL) with a phase-interpolator-linked sampling clock generator (PSCG). The proposed RSFPLL achieves fractional-N operations through phase-interpolator (PI)-based multi-phase generation instead of a typical frequency divider or digital-to-time converter (DTC). In addition, to alleviate the power burden arising from VCO-rated sampling, a flexible mask window generation method has been used that only passes a few sampling clocks near the point of interest. The prototype PLL system is designed with a 65 nm CMOS process with a chip size of 0.42 mm2. It achieves 322 fs rms jitter, āˆ’240.7 dB figure-of-merit (FoM), and āˆ’44.06 dBc fractional spurs with 8.17 mW power consumption

Low Temperature Atomic Layer Deposition of Ruthenium Thin Films Using Isopropylmethylbenzene-Cyclohexadiene-Ruthenium and O-2

    No full text
Ru thin films were deposited by atomic layer deposition (ALD) through alternating exposures of a metallorganic precursor, C16H22Ru [(eta 6-1-isopropyl-4-methylbenzene) (eta 4-cyclohexa-1,3-diene)ruthenium(0)] and O-2 at 220 degrees C. The growth rate was 0.1 and 0.086 nm/cycle on TiN and thermally grown SiO2, respectively. On both substrates, negligible incubation cycles were observed indicating that Ru nucleation was enhanced compared to the results obtained using the cyclopentadienyl-based Ru precursors. Plan-view transmission electron microscopy analysis revealed the formation of a continuous Ru film with a thickness of similar to 3.5 nm after only 50 ALD cycles. The step coverage was approximately 100% over the contact holes (top opening diameter was 89 nm) with a high aspect ratio (24:1)
