In the summer-autumn of 1988, the publisher Renato Minetto asked Guido Canella to direct the new series of Olivetti publications called "Zodiac". The issues, which came out at intervals of six months, were deliberately 21, the same number as those of the first series which had been published between 1957 and 1972. Monographs and miscellaneous issues alternated in nearly equal measure, all introduced by an editorial with a strong theoretical commitment and by one or more historical-critical essays, followed by a review of projects and works of architecture from the main players of contemporary international architecture accompanied by generous documentation described by the authors themselves without any outside comment, with the idea that the works and projects could speak for themselves, leaving personal judgement up to the reader without any editorial mediation apart from the choice to publish or not.Nell’estate-autunno 1988, l’editore Renato Minetto propose a Guido Canella di dirigere la nuova serie della testata olivettiana «Zodiac». I numeri usciti, con periodicità semestrale, sono stati 21, tanti quanti quelli della prima serie uscita tra 1957 e 1972. Numeri monografici e numeri miscellanei si sono alternati in misura pressoché equivalente. A loro volta i numeri monografici hanno affrontato temi tipologici (teatro, museo, università, palazzo di giustizia), o temi contestuali (Latinoamerica, California, Olanda), o ancora temi specifici come “Quella terza generazione di Giedion”. Tutti i numeri, monografici o miscellanei, erano introdotti da un editoriale di forte impegno teorico e da uno o più saggi storico-critici, seguiti da una rassegna di progetti e architetture dei protagonisti dell’architettura contemporanea internazionale, corredati da una ampia documentazione descritta dagli stessi autori senza alcun commento esterno, nell’idea che opere e progetti parlassero per se stessi, lasciando al lettore il personale giudizio senza alcuna mediazione redazionale se non la scelta della pubblicazione
