    Follow-up to the graduates, entrepreneurship and labor insertion of the graduates from the Technical University of Manabí’s Basic Education career

    The follow-up to the graduates, as an activity inherent to higher education institutions, allows to achieve a vision of the training accomplished by the professionals and their labor insertion. The objective of this work was to explore thegraduates’ level of intentions to undertake in the educational field of the of the basic general education career of the Technical University of Manabí. A mixed cross-sectional study involving 62 students was conducted. An “adhoc”instrument based on the survey (Ortiz 2016), and the indicators of the GEM project was used. The results showed a low level of entrepreneurship and a high percent of students who do not believe they can undertake in this field. The unfavorable labor situation evidenced (82% do not work in the field of education) indicates the need to find alternatives for these graduates, in this scenario, training on entrepreneurship can be an effective option

    The level of integral maturity in three metal mechanic enterprises located in Quevedo city, Ecuador, is assessed based on a group of requirements expressing the factors describing enterprise efficiency. From this, the integrality of the proposed index. Different relative weights are given to the factors, which depend on the requirements for assessing the maturity level of the enterprise. This concedes additional value to this assessment.  INDUHORST, one of the three organizations, obtains 5.96, which means ¨growing enterprise¨ with a tendency ¨to sustainability¨. Then follows JATARIC, with 4.81 also considered a ¨growing enterprise¨.  Finally, MAQGRO gets 4.58, enough to classify under the category ¨growing enterprise¨, but showing a strong tendency to be considered only a stable enterprise. In each case aspects to be improve can be distinguished, so that higher competitivity levels could be achieved.Se evalúa el nivel de madurez integral de tres empresas metal mecánicas ubicadas en la ciudad de Quevedo, Ecuador, a través de un grupo de requerimientos, que a su vez están en función de factores que caracterizan la eficiencia de la empresa, de aquí la integralidad del índice propuesto. Se le da diferentes pesos relativos a los factores que dependen de los requerimientos para evaluar el nivel de madurez de la empresa, lo que le concede un valor adicional a esta evaluación. La empresa INDUHORST alcanza una calificación de 5.96, con categoría de “empresa en crecimiento”, con tendencia a la “sustentabilidad”. Le sigue la JATARIG con 4.81, también con categoría “empresa en crecimiento”. Por otra parte, la MAQGRO alcanza 4.58 y aunque califica en la categoría de “en crecimiento”, presenta fuerte tendencia a “empresa estable”. En cada caso se distinguen los requerimientos que deben ser perfeccionados para alcanzar mejores niveles de competitividad
