    Peran dan Fungsi Pasar Modal dalam Pembangunan Perekonomian Indonesia

    Pasar modal memegang peranan penting dalam perekonomian suatu negara. Kegiatan di pasar modal begitu marak dan complicated, maka sangat membutuhkan hukum yang mengaturnya agar kegiatan di pasar modal menjadi teratur dan adil.Berkaitan dengan masalah perkembangan perekonomian, perbaikan struktur permodalan dunia USAha merupakan keharusan dalam rangka memperkokoh daya saing Perusahaan dalam menghadapi persaingan di era globalisasi. Di sisi lain ketersediaan perangkat hukum yang memadai belum merupakan jaminan bagi terwujudnya perlindungan terhadap investor dan masyarakat. Apabila perangkat hukum itu tidak diterapkan dan ditegakan maka peranan pasar modal sebagai pendukung perekonomian dan pembangunan nasional tidak akan tercapai

    Perjanjian Penjaminan emisi merupakan salah satu kegiatan dalam rangka penawaran umum yang dilakukan oleh emiten. Kegiatan ini melibatkan underwriter,dimana pihak penjamin emisi/ underwriter akan bekerja berdasarkan komitmen yang telah disepakati oleh emiten.Adakalanya dalam kegiatan ini pihak emiten tidak melibatkan penjamin emisi dalam menawarkan efeknya, dengan alasan jumlah yang ditawarkan sedikit, dan emiten tersebut menugaskan karyawannya.Masalah lain yang dapat timbul, yaitu apabila pihak underwriter/penjamin emisi tidak melaksanakan komitmennya. Menurut UUPM, Underwriter hanya membantu emiten untuk menjualkan efeknya dalam rangka penawaran umum berdasarkan komitmen yang disepakati, dan pernyataan pendaftaran emiten telah efektif

    The Impact of Population Growth on Residential Landuse in Calabar, Cross River State

    This study examined the impact of population growth on residential landuse in Calabar, Cross River State. The major research problems which elicited interest on this study include the increasing densification of houses in the study area, increase in the cost of a plot of land, astronomical increase in house rents and increase in overcrowding index. The main objectives of the study include to examine the consequences of population growth on urban residential landuse in Calabar, and to examine the rate of increase in the value of land in the study area. One hypothesis, namely, there is no significant relationship between population growth and the cost of urban residential land. Data for the study were collected from the National Population Commission, the Cross River State Ministry of Lands and Housing, and the Town Planning Department. The results confirm a strong correlation between population growth and cost of land at the city centre and at the periphery. Furthermore, the study has shown that between 1999 and 2009, the proportion of land used for residential purposes increased by about 61.3 percent. The work concludes by recommending that Government, through the Town Planning Department, should be meticulous in land allocation, registration of building plans, and be involved in strict supervision when houses are being built.     Sintesis dan Karakterisasi Hidroksiapatit (Hap) untuk Bahan Pengikat Tungstat dalam Sistem Generator 188w/188re

    Pada penelitian ini telah disintesis hidroksiapatit melalui proses presipitasi antara kalsium hidroksida (Ca(OH)2) dengan asam fosfat (H3PO4) yang merupakan proses reaksi asam basa yang menghasilkan padatan kristalin yang selanjutnya akan digunakan untuk bahan pengikat tungstat dalam sistem generator 188W/188Re. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah karakterisasi untuk memastikan hasil sintesis hidroksiapatit dan menentukan parameter yang berpengaruh terhadap kinerja generator 188W/188Re seperti aktivasi pemanasan hidroksiapatit, pH larutan Na2WO4, suhu reaksi, koefisien distribusi dan kapasitas serap (koefisien adsorpsi) hidroksiapatit. Karakterisasi hasil sintesis hidroksiapatit dilakukan dengan FTIR, XRD dan SEM-EDAX, sedangkan penentuan kondisi optimum setiap parameter dilakukan berdasarkan koefisien distribusi dan kapasitas serap hidroksiapatit menggunakan metode spektrofotometri. Hasil karakterisasi hidroksiapatit (Ca10(PO­4)6(OH)2) menggunakan FTIR ditunjukkan oleh munculnya puncak regang O-H pada bilangan gelombang (u) 3434,9 cm-1 dan 563,8 cm-1, sedangkan adanya gugus PO4-3 ditunjuk-kan dengan adanya ikatan P-O pada (u) 1033,8 cm-1. Karakteristik menggunakan XRD menunjukkan bahwa hidroksiapatit memiliki tiga puncak utama pada daerah 2θ yaitu 31,875o, 32,205o dan 33,080o. Karakterisasi dengan SEM menunjukkan bentuk morfologi partikel columnar dengan ukuran 200 nm. Hasil penentuan kondisi optimum untuk masing-masing parameter diperoleh pemanasan hidroksiapatit pada suhu 100 oC, larutan Na2WO4 pH 3, dan suhu reaksi 60 oC yang menghasilkan koefisien distribusi sebesar 193,74 mL/g dan kapasitas serap (koefisien adsorpsi) sebesar 5,20 mg W/g HAp

    Molecular detection of two cassava Begomoviruses in some parts of Southern Nigeria

    Cassava mosaic disease (CMD), caused by an array of is the most economically important viral disease of cassava in sub-Saharan Africa. The most frequently reported in West Africa are African cassava mosaic virus (ACMV) and East African cassava mosaic Cameroon virus (EACMCV). In this study, 42 cassava leaves and 30 symptomatic weeds belonging to the Asteraceae, Cucurbitaceae and Leguminosae families were collected from backyard gardens in Edo, Ondo, Anambra, and Delta States in 2009. Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) extracts from these leaves were tested for ACMV and EACMCV in a multiplex polymerase chain reaction (PCR) assay. The PCR primers used were designed to amplify the replicase regions of DNA-A components of both viruses. Most of the cassava plants within the survey area were either symptomless or showed mild symptoms. ACMV was detected in 16% of cassava leaves from Edo State but not in any of the cassava leaves from the other three states. One weed sample each from Edo State (5.56%) and Ondo State (10%) were also positive for ACMV. EACMCV was not detected in any of the samples tested. The low virus occurrence observed from PCR results and the observed low incidence of the CMD characteristic mosaic symptoms on cassava leaves in the states sampled may be attributed to the use of CMD resistant or tolerant cassava varieties, and may be a result of the massive distribution of virus resistant cassava cuttings to these States by the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA)

    Public Perception of the Millennium Development Goals on Access to Safe Drinking Water in Cross River State, Nigeria

    This study evaluated the public perception of Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) of environmental sustainability with focus on the MDG target which has do with reducing the proportion of people without access to safe drinking water in Cross River State, Nigeria. The stratified and systematic sampling techniques were adopted for the study, considering a study population of 2,892,988 with a sample size of 1260 respondents. The data was analysed using t-test analysis for single mean at .05 levels of significance. The result obtained from the Cronbach Alpha reliability of the instrument was .67, while the mean ( ) and standard deviation were 20.98 and 3.73 respectively. The instrument measure what it was designed to measure in the study. The result showed a significant but positive t-value of 12.21. The calculated t-test of 12.2 was found to be significantly greater than the critical t-value obtained in the result; it implies that respondents have adequate perception of MDGs of environmental sustainability in terms of access to safe drinking water. The perception of MDGs of environmental sustainability was significantly high. It was recommended that environmental sustainability issues should be given priority and included in the school curriculum at all levels of education system. Secondly, the Cross River Government should embark on water schemes across the State to provide portable and affordable water in the State as it has done in Calabar Metropolis thereby meeting the MDG target, to halve, by 2015, the proportion of people without sustainable access to safe drinking water.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/ijere.v3i4.665

    Performa Supply Chain Emping Melinjo di Kabupaten Bantul Daerah Istimewa YOGYAKARTA

    Emping melinjo was one of the agroindustry-products that had great potential to be developed. The industry of emping melinjo contributed more on economic growth in the reason of creating jobs and alleviate poverty. The purpose of this study was to describe the performance of supply chain of emping melinjo from upstream to downstream and analyze the efficiency of supply chain of emping melinjo in Bantul regency. Field study to obtain primary data was done through interviews with the practitioners of emping melinjo supply chain (including farmers and merchants of melinjo as well as producers and retailers of melinjo chips). The results of field studies then tabulated and analyzed descriptively and quantitatively using Linear Programming. The analysis showed that there were 37 supply chain networks of emping melinjo in Bantul. The practitioners of upstream supply chain were melinjo farmers, middlemen, traders, wholesalers, and retailers, while in the downstream, were emping melinjo producers, traders, small traders, wholesalers, retailers and consumers. The activities of the doer of emping melinjo supply chain includes purchasing, sales, harvesting, packaging, packing, stripping, storage, loading and unloading, transporting, sorting and grading. The flow of products and money in the supply chain of emping melinjo run smoothly, while the flow of information was sluggish. Based on linear programming analysis the cost of supply chain of emping melinjo would reach minimum level at Rp33,969,264 per week if the production of emping melinjo as many as 25 361 kg per week wich was distributed using 22 networks
