    ANALYSIS OF STUDENTS TURN-TAKING IN GROUP WORK DISCUSSION

    This content analysis that belongs to qualitative research aims at finding indebth understanding about turn-taking produced by S1 students of FKIP- Lampung University during group work discussion. The data were students utterances during group work discussion. All the data were recorded, transcribed, and were analyzed based on the context in order to find out the students’ turn-taking. The result shows that students made turn-taking during the group work discussion and it can be classified into two catagories, namely: 1) by choosing himself, and 2) by choosing others. The speaker chose himself by having four reasons while the speaker chose others by having three reasons. All the turn-takings are made by students in order to finish the task given by the lecturer

    THE EFFECTS OF LEARNING MODELS AND LINGUISTIC INTELLIGENCE ON THE PERSUASIVE WRITING SKILL

    The objective of this study is to know the effects of learning models (problem solving and project based learning) and linguistic intelligence  on the students of persuasive writing skill of the fourth semester students  of English Department, State Polytechnic of Sriwijaya Palembang, in the academic year of 2016-2017. The writer used linguistic intelligence test and persuasive writing test to collect the data. The data was analyzed  statistically by using two-factor ANOVA at 0.05 significance level. The results of this study showed that (1) The students’ persuasive writing skill taught through problem solving was higher than those who were  taught through project based learning. (2) There was interaction effect between learning models and linguistic intelligence toward persuasive writing skill of the fourth semester students of English Department, State Polytechnic of Sriwijaya Palembang. (3) The students’ persuasive writing skill who were taught by using problem solving and having high linguistic intelligence is higher than those who were taught through  project based learning and having high linguistic intelligence. (4)  The students’ persuasive writing skill who were taught through  problem solving and having low linguistic intelligence is lower than those who were taught through project based learning and having low linguistic intelligence

    The Implementation of Cooperative Principle in Class Group Discussion

    This study is aimed to understand the implementation of Grice’s cooperative principle in class group discussion at Indonesian Language and Literature Study Program of Faculty of Teachers Training and Education of UNTIRTA Serang. The research was conducted through ethnographic study. Data of the research were collected through observation and transcription of documentation which investigated into the analysis of domain, taxonomy, componential, and cultural themes. The result of study showed that the implementation of Grice’s cooperative principles was found in class group discussion at Indonesian Language and Literature Study Program of Faculty of Teachers Training and Education of UNTIRTA Serang. The maxim that mostly occurred was maxim of quantity, continued by maxim of relevance, maxim of quality, and maxim of manner. The result also showed that the use of cooperative principles in class group discussion could not be separated from the influence of students’ origin culture and mother tongue which reflected into the use of formal language, politeness, tone, sense of respect and focus on the discussion, and the use direct speech.&nbsp

    Wurung Jue is a series of events Process Dayak Customary Marriages Ma'anyan and Lawangan. Wurung jue Jue or bird is a symbol of faithful to their spouse. This research is a qualitative research. The main instrument in this study is the researchers themselves. Data collected over take the form of words or pictures instead of numbers. "The research data were retrieved through data collection techniques such as observation, interviews and documentation, namely the recording and record ripple used in ceremonies pernikahan.Hasil of this study were 1 ) ripple Ma'anyan Dayak is an old literary work because tumet a poem performed at the wedding customs Ma'anyan tribes commonly called Wurung Jue, 2) acts of speech commonly used in ripple namely locutions and illocutionary speech acts. Riak also has characteristics in common with each stanza rhyme that these ripples consist of four lines with end rhymes a-b-a-b. Each array consists of four words or eight with the provisions of the first two lines are always in the form of figurative or sampiran, while the content or the exact meaning contained in the third and four lines

    The aim of this research is to obtain a deep understanding of character education in And The Mountains Echoed Novel written by Khalid Hosseini. This research used qualitative approach, content analysis method, through structuralism and  semiotics study. Structurally, character education in this novel found in the theme, the plot, the characters and characterization, and the setting. Semiotically, the researcher found semiotics signs in And The Mountains Echoed novel relating to the character education, namely, index, symbol, and icon. The data were collected through a carefull reading of the novel, identification, and classification. The values taken are the combination between character education value from Pusat Kurikulum Balitbang Diknas and Lickona’s. However not all values are captured, among the 28 values, only thirteen caught from the novel. The values are hard working, religious, responsible, love, integrity, social care, never give up, thanks be to Allah, appreciating achievement, wisdom, creative, curiousity, and friendly/communicative. From the structure of the novel, the character education implemented explicitly and implicitly in the theme, the character and characterization, the setting, and the plot. While from the semiotics, the character education mostly found  in the form of index, followed by symbol,and then icon. &nbsp

    Improving English Speaking Ability through Mobile Assisted Language Learning (Mall) Learning Model

    The aims of the study to reveals in details process and result of improving English speaking ability using Mobile assisted Language Learning (MALL) learning model. This study is an action research at English Department Muhammdiyah University of Jakarta consists of 30 students as the participant. Data obtained from the result of English Speaking ability test. The results of the study showed that the learning process using Mobile Assisted Language Learning (MALL) makes the students become more active in their speech; their participation level in learning interaction shows it. The result also presented that there is significantly improvement on the students’ English speaking ability using Mobile Assisted Language Learning (MALL) from preliminary cycle to the third cycle phase in research process. The average score of the students at preliminary stage is only 42.8 then it increased in the first cycle to 53.2. While on the second cycle obtained an average score of 61.2 and increased in the third cycle to 80. So, it can be concluded that action research in improving English speaking ability using Mobile Assisted Language Learning (MALL) significantly helps the students in improving their ability to speak English

    This research aimed to obtain a deep depiction of personality type on the main character in the film series: Nobuta wo Produce by Izumi Kizara.  Film series Nobuta wo Produce is a television drama series adapted from novel with the same title by Gen Shiraiwa. This research was conducted using content analysis method. This research data was analyzed through psychoanalytic by Carl Gustav Jung approach. The data were collected through documents, and data observations about the main character personality in film series: Nobuta wo Produce by Izumi Kizara. The result showed that Kiritani Shuuji as the main character of film series: Nobuta wo Produce by Izumi Kizara has two tendencies of the dominant personality type, thinking introvert type and feeling ekstravert type.     ABSTRACT The connection of nature with literary works raises concepts about ecological problems in literature among literary critics. Many environmental problems that occur at this time. Through poetry, fairy tales and other literary works, the writers mention this in their works. Ecocritic has a basic paradigm that every object can be seen in ecological networks, and ecology can be a helpful science in this critical approach. Environmental insight can be obtained through a literary work. Some writers in Indonesia make nature and the environment a prominent part of their works. In addition to literary works such as poetry and novels, fairy tales have first explored nature. In fairy tales, nature is described as the place of life of the characters. That way, fairy tales indirectly invite the audience to come into contact with environmental insights that need to be studied and applied in everyday life.     This study was aimed to get a picture of creative writing learning in the 4th grade of Sekolah AlamTangerang. This research used an ethnography method. The data were collected through observation, documentation, and interview. The research showed that: (1) The type of syllabus used was a syllabus referring to the SAT curriculum and national curriculum. (2) The formulation of learning objectives was the maturity in creative writing. (3) The materials developed by the teachers included learning to write journal or book report, poem, comic, and article. (4) The strategies, approaches, methods, and techniques used refer to experience from the natural environment. (5) The roles of teachers and students in learning were equally important. (6) The most important infrastructures and learning media were nature-based. (7) The evaluation system used was more concerned with daily assessment. Overall, the creative learning process at the 4th grade of Sekolah Alam Tangerang forms its own cultural theme; that is nature-based learning

    This research aims to know and understand more deeply about mystical values and transformative pedagogic values in the Syaikh Siti Jenar novel written by Agus Sunyoto. The focus of this study was the intrinsic and extrinsic structure of meaning in the novel. The method applied in this study is content analysis using genetic structure by Lucien Goldmann. The results of the study show a number of sufistic values and transformative pedagogic values. Sufistic values include: repentance, ascetic, indigent, patience, gratitude, pleasure, and trust. While the transformative pedagogic values include altruism, egalitarian, pluralism, and eclectic. The findings of the author's world view includes figures deconstruction of the teachings of Syaikh Siti Jenar, cultural missionary endeavor, the concept of superhuman, mystical literature, and literary history
