    Synthesis and Selected Properties of LaWO4Br

    Lanthanum oxobromotungstate LaWO4Br was prepared by solid-state synthesis. The compound was studied by various methods of physicochemical analysis: chemical, crystal-optical, differential-thermal, X-ray diffraction, scanning electronic microscopy, and second optical harmonic generation. The crystals of the compound are orthorhombic, space group Pbcm. The unit cell parameters for LaWO4Br were determined: a = 5.912(1) Ã…, b = 7.931(2) Ã…, c = 19.728(2) Ã…, V = 925.2(2) Ã…3. Selected physicochemical parameters of the compounds were studied. Pyroelectric properties of the compounds were found over a wide temperature range
