Discovering and analyzing my compositional language : developing a personal style without severing ties to classical music

Ce mémoire de maîtrise présente une analyse et une discussion de cinq compositions réalisées pendant mes études. Les œuvres sont pour piano solo, soprano et piano, trombone et piano, quatuor à cordes et quintette à vent. L'objectif de ce projet était de développer mon langage musical et d'observer les différentes influences qui le caractérisent. Pour ce faire, certaines des pièces ont été composées avec des contraintes de modes ou de techniques spécifiques, tandis que d'autres ont été composées librement. J'observe beaucoup d'influences de ma formation en tant que pianiste, en particulier celles de Scriabine, de Chostakovitch et de Prokofiev. De plus, je discute de l'influence que la musique juive a eue sur moi et comme je l’utilise dans ma musique.This paper presents an analysis and discussion of five compositions I wrote during my master’s studies. The works are for solo piano, voice and piano, trombone and piano, string quartet, and wind quintet. The objective of this project was to develop my musical language and to observe the different influences that characterize it. To achieve this, some of the pieces were restricted using specific modes or techniques, while others remained freely composed. I observe many influences from my formation as a pianist, particularly those of Scriabin, Shostakovich, and Prokofiev. Additionally, I discuss the influence that Jewish music has had on me and how I use elements of it in my music

Geld en waarde:een historisch en theoretisch onderzoek

Voor de moderne waarde-theoretici is het begrip "waarde" het fundamenteelste begrip der economie. De betekenis van de waarde voor de economie is te vergelijken met de betekenis van de zwaartekracht voor de mechanica. 1 Daarom wordt de waardeleer b.v. door Prof. C. A. Verrijn Stuart opgenomen in de algemene grondslagen der economie 2, op welke grondslagen dan de verklaring van de rest der economische verschijnselen behoort te rusten. Als wetenschap mag de economie abstraheren; zo vinden we bij de meeste grensnuttheoretici de abstractie van een buiten het ruilverkeer levend individu (Robinson). Methodologisch is de weg naar deze abstractie de volgende: in de economische werkelijkheid bestaan markten met prijzen en prijsveranderingen. Wat is prijs en welke zijn de oorzaken van prijsveranderingen? Men komt dan tot de ontdekking dat deze prijzen uitdrukkingen zijn van waardeverschijnselen. De prijs is niets anders dan de objectieve ruilwaarde uitgedrukt in geld. De objectieve ruilwaarde is de resultante der sUbjectieve waardeschattingen der aan het ruilverkeer deelnemende individuen. De subjectieve waardeschattingen zijn van tweeerlei aard: of subjectieve waardeschattingen in het ruilverkeer (subjectieve ruilwaarde) of subjectieve waardeschattingen buiten het ruilverkeer (subjectieve gebruikswaarde). Validating the Experiences of Male Mexican American Community College Transfer Students Studying at Catholic Universities

California\u27s community colleges and public and private universities must collaborate to address the Tidal Wave II student enrollment surge composed mostly of Hispanic/Latinos and Asian students in order to meet the educational needs of community college transfer students (CCTSs). Avoiding the issue will result in continued neglect of CCTS within public and private institutions; possible outcomes include delayed graduation and potential attrition of at-risk students. Using Rendón\u27s (1994) theory of student validation as the theoretical framework, this qualitative study uncovered the validating and other university experiences of male Mexican American CCTSs. This qualitative study included individual interviews of six CCT students, six CCT alumni, and nine university administrators within the divisions of student and academic affairs from two respective Catholic universities in southern California. The results of the study show that validation of CCTS by university personnel contributed to and influenced the perceptions of CCTSs about their overall university experiences. Also, the data suggest that words of encouragement told to students by university personnel help students perceive that the university cares about their success. The findings of the study show that students who had a positive university experience also perceived the staff and administration as caring for the success of students, helpful to students, and providing for individualized and personal attention. These results study suggest that Catholic four-year universities may be a good fit for Mexican American CCTSs, but only when university personnel proactively engages in validating this special student population. Faculty validation also emerged as a source of student validation and contributor to their satisfaction with the university. CCTS in the study also attributed the university\u27s religious affiliation and international student population as factors that helped to enhance their university experiences

Legalitas Penetapan Kerugian Keuangan Negara Oleh Aparat Pengawas Internal Pemerintah (APIP) Sebagai Dasar Memeriksa Perkara Korupsi

To prevent and eradicate criminal acts of corruption in the bureaucracy of government institutions and prevent errors and irregularities in the implementation of duties by apparatus in the government bureaucracy, the existence of the government internal supervision apparatus (APIP) is considered very important to conduct internal supervision of government apparatus in carrying out government duties. However, the authority given by law to APIP is often not in line with APH (Law Enforcement Officers) often use the results of the State loss calculation report by APIP as a basis for prosecuting someone suspected of committing a Criminal Act of Corruption. This type of research is normative juridical. The type of research is descriptive-analytical. The source of legal materials uses primary legal materials and secondary legal materials. Techniques for collecting legal materials through literature study and qualitative analysis of legal materials. The results showed that the only institution that has the authority to calculate and determine State Financial Losses is the Audit Board by attribution given by the Constitution Therefore, every charge committed by APH (Law Enforcement Officer) must be null and void or can be canceled because it is not in line with existing regulations

Keabsahan Perubahan Status Hukum Desa Werwawan Menjadi Dusun Werwawan Di Kabupaten Maluku Barat Daya

The transfer of the village government center from Werwawan Village to Letoda Hamlet without going through a legal product, namely a Regional Regulation. This research is a normative juridical research, and then examines and knows the answers to this problem through a concept approach, statutory approach and case approach, then from the results of the description conclusions and suggestions can be drawn. The results showed that the formation of Letoda Hamlet to become an autonomous village and the transition of legal status from Werwawan Village to a hamlet were not in accordance with the substance and legal procedures in force, including the discretion of the Deputy Regent of West Southeast Maluku to the Head of Letoda Village to move the government administration center from Werwawan Village to Letoda Hamlet which was then accompanied by Letoda Hamlet to become an autonomous village and Werwawan Village to become a hamlet which did not have legal validity and had no binding legal force and the transition of legal status from Werwawan Village to Werwawan Hamlet had no legal status. Legal amendments in the concept of administrative law, material/factual actions and legal actions taken by the Deputy Regent of West Southeast Maluku which have implications for Letoda Hamlet becoming an autonomous village and Werwawan Village becoming a hamlet in principle are government actions that are not based on law so that there are legal consequences of the government's actions so that legal actions can give rise to legal consequences administratively and therefore Letoda Hamlet which has become an autonomous village and Werwawan Village which has become a hamlet does not have legal validity so it can be annulled

Predicting Epileptic Seizures: A Comprehensive Study of ML and DL Algorithms

Epilepsy, a complex neurological disorder marked by recurrent seizures, presents a formidable diagnostic and therapeutic challenge in healthcare. Electroencephalogram (EEG) signals are indispensable tools for detecting epileptic activity within the brain. Leveraging recent advancements in machine learning (ML) and deep learning(DL), Data Analytics our study investigates the effectiveness of various ML and DL algorithms for epilepsy detection using processed EEG data. Through a comprehensive literature review, we selected prominent ML and DL techniques such as Support Vector Machines (SVMs), Random Forest (RF) classifiers, Gaussian Naïve Bayes, CNNs, etc.  Our systematic experimentation and evaluation, conducted on a dataset sourced from the UCI Machine Learning Repository, demonstrates notable results achieved by the models exhibiting robust predictive capabilities. This research significantly contributes to advancing the field of epilepsy prediction, offering insights into the efficacy of diverse ML and DL models for seizure detection. The implications of these findings hold promise for refining epilepsy management strategies, ultimately enhancing patient care and quality of life. This underscores the imperative for interdisciplinary collaboration between neuroscience, AI, and healthcare to address the complex challenges posed by epilepsy.&nbsp
