    Can potassium fertilization, soil amendments and land leveling ameliorate rice production under salt affected soils conditions?

    The significance of nutrient and water and its sustainability was and still one of the most emerging issues in agriculture. Therefore, it should be considered the maintenance, improvement and efficiently utilization of nutrient and water resources. In present work, the effect of land leveling, soil amendments including gypsum and/or compost application and K- fertilizer on rice production under salt affected soils conditions have been studied. The results showed that the highest yield of grain and straw of rice was obtained with using K-fertilization, land levelling rate 0.05 % of surface slope in the presence of gypsum plus compost application. Furthermore, this study suggests that, the efficiency of irrigation application increased from about 60 (for control) to 65 and 78 % for land leveling with 0.0 and 0.05 % slope, respectively. That means, the water loss rate from irrigation were 43, 36 and 32 %, respectively using the previous land leveling treatments. Thus, about 17 % from the applied water for irrigation could be saved under 0.05 % slope. On the other hand, the highest decrease rate in soil salinity (EC, dS m-1) and alkalinity (sodium absorption ratio, SAR) was 26 and 20 %, respectively for the traditional land leveling or the farmers’ practices. Therefore, sustainable rice crop production should be managed to overcome the soil salinity and alkalinity under low land rice cultivation, improving soil quality and its fertility

    The present work aims to synthesize novel diclofenac derivatives containing L-alanine moiety. The synthesized compounds docked into the active site to discover validated inhibitors of cyclooxygenases (COX-1 and COX-2). The calculations in-silico were predicted that, the compound with lowest energy of docked poses was interacted with residues of active site, perhaps could be making them possible selective inhibitors against (COX-2) and physiologically  active. The binding score of compound compared with reference drug, and show extensive interactions with the targets, which may consider it a suitable selective inhibitor against   (COX-2).     Modeling bike counts in a bike-sharing system considering the effect of weather conditions

    The paper develops a method that quantifies the effect of weather conditions on the prediction of bike station counts in the San Francisco Bay Area Bike Share System. The Random Forest technique was used to rank the predictors that were then used to develop a regression model using a guided forward step-wise regression approach. The Bayesian Information Criterion was used in the development and comparison of the various prediction models. We demonstrated that the proposed approach is promising to quantify the effect of various features on a large BSS and on each station in cases of large networks with big data. The results show that the time-of-the-day, temperature, and humidity level (which has not been studied before) are significant count predictors. It also shows that as weather variables are geographic location dependent and thus should be quantified before using them in modeling. Further, findings show that the number of available bikes at station i at time t-1 and time-of-the-day were the most significant variables in estimating the bike counts at station i.Comment: Published in Case Studies on Transport Policy (Volume 7, Issue 2, June 2019, Pages 261-268

    Thiazolidinedione (1) was used as a key intermediate for the synthesis of many therapeutic anti-diabetic molecule. Thus, Thiazolidinedione (1) was refluxed with aromatic aldehydes and phenol derivatives to afforded aryldine derivative (3). Moreover, the stereochemistry for compound 3 was discussed using Hartree-Fock theory geometries, and have been optimized at HF with 6-311G level of theory. The HOMO-LUMO energy gap of studied systems has been discussed. The molecular docking simulations into the active site of ALR2 were performed, and showed that, the compound 3 more suitable inhibitor against ALR2 and can used as anti- diabetic drug

    LPS remodeling triggers formation of outer membrane vesicles in Salmonella.

    Outer membrane vesicles (OMV) are proposed to mediate multiple functions during pathogenesis and symbiosis. However, the mechanisms responsible for OMV formation remain poorly understood. It has been shown in eukaryotic membranes that lipids with an inverted-cone shape favor the formation of positive membrane curvatures. Based on these studies, we formulated the hypothesis that lipid A deacylation might impose shape modifications that result in the curvature of the outer membrane (OM) and subsequent OMV formation. We tested the effect of lipid A remodeling on OMV biogenesis employing Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium as a model organism. Expression of the lipid A deacylase PagL resulted in increased vesiculation, without inducing an envelope stress response. Mass spectrometry analysis revealed profound differences in the patterns of lipid A in OM and OMV, with accumulation of deacylated lipid A forms exclusively in OMV. OMV biogenesis by intracellular bacteria upon macrophage infection was drastically reduced in a pagL mutant strain. We propose a novel mechanism for OMV biogenesis requiring lipid A deacylation in the context of a multifactorial process that involves the orchestrated remodeling of the outer membrane
