Pion Decay Constant at Finite Temperature in the Nonlinear Sigma Model
We calculate the pion decay constant near the critical temperature of the
nonlinear sigma model in the large limit. Making use of the known
low temperature behavior, we construct a Pad\'{e} approximant to obtain the

Properties of the phi meson at high temperatures and densities
We calculate the spectral density of the phi meson in a hot bath of nucleons
and pions using a general formalism relating self-energy to the forward
scattering amplitude (FSA). In order to describe the low energy FSA, we use
experimental data along with a background term. For the high energy FSA, a
Regge parameterization is employed. We verify the resulting FSA using
dispersion techniques. We find that the position of the peak of the spectral
density is slightly shifted from its vacuum position and that its width is
considerably increased. The width of the spectral density at a temperature of
150 MeV and at normal nuclear density is more than 90 MeV.Comment: 4 pages, 5 figures, Poster presented at Quark Matter 200
Formation of antideuterons in heavy ion collisions
The antideuteron production rate at high-energy heavy ions collisions is
calculated basing on the concept of anti-d formation by antinucleons which move
in the mean field of the fireball constituents (mainly pions). The explicit
formula is presented for the coalescence parameter B_2 in terms of deuteron

Comment on current correlators in QCD at finite temperature
We address some criticisms by Eletsky and Ioffe on the extension of QCD sum
rules to finite temperature. We argue that this extension is possible, provided
the Operator Product Expansion and QCD-hadron duality remain valid at non-zero
temperature. We discuss evidence in support of this from QCD, and from the
exactly solvable two- dimensional sigma model O(N) in the large N limit, and

Properties of and Mesons at Finite Temperature and Density as Inferred from Experiment
The mass shift, width broadening, and spectral density for the and
mesons in a heat bath of nucleons and pions are calculated using a
general formula which relates the self-energy to the real and imaginary parts
of the forward scattering amplitude. We use experimental data to saturate the
scattering amplitude at low energies with resonances and include a background
Pomeron term, while at high energies a Regge parameterization is used. The real
part obtained directly is compared with the result of a dispersion integral
over the imaginary part. The peaks of the spectral densities are little shifted
from their vacuum positions, but the widths are considerably increased due to
collisional broadening. Where possible we compare with the UrQMD model and find
quite good agreement. At normal nuclear matter density and a temperature of 150
MeV the spectral density of the meson has a width of 345 MeV, while that
for the is in the range 90--150 MeV.Comment: 21 pages revtex + 9 postscript figure
Studying the properties in pA collisions via the decay
Within transport calculations we study the production and decay of
-mesons in reactions at COSY energies including elastic and
inelastic rescattering, the Dalitz decay
as well as rescattering. The resulting invariant mass
distributions indicate that in-medium modifications of the -meson may

QCD sum rule analysis for light vector and axial-vector mesons in vacuum and nuclear matter
Extending previous work we study the constraints of QCD sum rules on mass and
width of light vector and axial-vector mesons in vacuum and in a medium with
finite nuclear density. For the latter case especially the effect of nuclear

The electromagnetic effects in isospin symmetry breakings of q{\bar q} systems
The isospin symmetry breakings of q{\bar q} are investigated in the QCD sum
rule method. The electromagnetic effects are evaluated following the procedure
requiring that the electromagnetic effects for charged meson be gauge
invariant. We find that the electromagnetic effects are also dominant in the
isospin violations of rho meson, which have been shown to be the case in the
mass splittings of pions. The numerical results for the difference of pion
decay constants and the masses of rho mesons are presented, which are

O-fucosylation stabilizes the TSR3 motif in thrombospondin-1 by interacting with nearby amino acids and protecting a disulfide bond; 35597280
Thrombospondin type-1 repeats (TSRs) are small protein motifs containing six conserved cysteines forming three disulfide bonds that can be modified with an O-linked fucose. Protein O-fucosyltransferase 2 (POFUT2) catalyzes the addition of O-fucose to TSRs containing the appropriate consensus sequence, and the O-fucose modification can be elongated to a Glucose-Fucose disaccharide with the addition of glucose by Ă3-glucosyltransferase (B3GLCT). Elimination of Pofut2 in mice results in embryonic lethality in mice, highlighting the biological significance of O-fucose modification on TSRs. Knockout of POFUT2 in HEK293T cells has been shown to cause complete or partial loss of secretion of many proteins containing O-fucosylated TSRs. In addition, POFUT2 is localized to the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) and only modifies folded TSRs, stabilizing their structures. These observations suggest that POFUT2 is involved in an ER quality control mechanism for TSR folding and that B3GLCT also participates in quality control by providing additional stabilization to TSRs. However, the mechanisms by which addition of these sugars result in stabilization are poorly understood. Here, we conducted molecular dynamics (MD) simulations and provide crystallographic and NMR evidence that the Glucose-Fucose disaccharide interacts with specific amino acids in the TSR3 domain in thrombospondin-1 that are within proximity to the O-fucosylation modification site resulting in protection of a nearby disulfide bond. We also show that mutation of these amino acids reduces the stabilizing effect of the sugars in vitro. These data provide mechanistic details regarding the importance of O-fucosylation and how it participates in quality control mechanisms inside the ER
