Die Dorfschulen in Nassau-Usingen 1659 - 1806 : Schulregiment und Schulwirklichkeit auf dem Land

Die Suche nach einer umfassenden und vergleichenden Darstellung der Geschichte des niederen Schulwesens in Deutschland bleibt wenig erfolgreich. Das gilt insbesondere für die Geschichte des Schulwesens auf dem Land. Der Schwerpunkt der durchaus produktiven Forschung zur deutschen Bildungsgeschichte liegt auf universitärer, zunehmend auch auf gymnasialer Ebene, während das darunterliegende Schulwesen weniger Berücksichtigung findet. Ferner konzentriert sich die deutsche historische wie pädagogische Forschung mehr auf die Institutionen- oder aber Erziehungs-, Wissenschafts- und Ideengeschichte als auf sozialgeschichtlich-statistische Untersuchungen und die Geschichte der Schulwirklichkeit. Unter zahlreichen gleichlautenden Aussagen sei hier nur auf Lundgreen (1971) verwiesen, der den großen "Mangel an empirischen Untersuchungen des Bildungswesens" beklagt und auf Neugebauers Feststellung (1985), daß "die Erhellung der Schulwirklichkeit im 18. Jahrhundert noch immer ein Desiderat der Geschichtswissenschaft" sei. Die territoriale Zersplitterung Deutschlands in 1.774 Herrschaftseinheiten vor 1803 erschwert eine Zusammenschau der Situation des deutschen Schulwesens auf dem Land. Bisher wurden vorwiegend die großen oder bedeutenden deutschen Territorien erforscht. Dabei liegt ein deutlicher Schwerpunkt auf Preußen und auf der Geschichte der Volksschule seit den allgemein einsetzenden Schulreformen ab Mitte des 18. Jahrhunderts und insbesondere auf dem 19. Jahrhundert. In den letzten Jahren kamen wenige Einzeluntersuchungen zu Bayern und kleineren deutschen Territorien hinzu. Ein weiterer Grund für die vor allem in den vergangenen Jahrzehnten geringe Beachtung des deutschen Schulwesens auf dem Land könnte in den vielfältigen Untersuchungen zu diesem Thema im 19. und frühen 20. Jahrhundert liegen. Diese Darstellungen neigen jedoch häufig dazu, die Wirklichkeit idealistisch zu verkürzen. ..

Gas Phase Stability and Unfolding of Proteins via Ion Mobility-Mass Spectrometry

The study of protein dynamics and unfolding is key to understanding the basis of misfolding and aggregational diseases such as type II diabetes, α1-antrypsin deficiency, Parkinsons’ disease and Alzheimers' disease. Common structural biology techniques, such as x-ray crystallography and cryo electron microscopy often require large quantities of high purity sample and can only capture major structural ensembles. Mass spectrometry coupled to ion mobility (IM-MS) is positioned as an ideal technique to study protein dynamics and unfolding as it allows the separation of ions based on mass, charge and conformation from low concentrations of heterogenous solutions. In this thesis I present new techniques, instrumentation and computational workflows relating to IM-MS and how these techniques can be applied to protein systems involved in misfolding and aggregational diseases
