Linear "ship waves" generated in stationary flow of a Bose-Einstein condensate past an obstacle
Using stationary solutions of the linearized two-dimensional Gross-Pitaevskii
equation, we describe the ``ship wave'' pattern occurring in the supersonic
flow of a Bose-Einstein condensate past an obstacle. It is shown that these
``ship waves'' are generated outside the Mach cone. The developed analytical
theory is confirmed by numerical simulations of the flow past body problem in
the frame of the full non-stationary Gross-Pitaevskii equation.Comment: 5 pages, 4 figure
Atomic Properties of the Two-Electron System using Variational Monte Carlo Technique
Using variational Monte Carlo method we calculated the lowest order relativistic corrections for the ground state energies of the helium-like atoms, up to Z = 10, and also for some excited state energies of the helium atom. These relativistic corrections include: massvelocity eect, orbitorbit interaction, spin magnetic and dipole moments of the two electrons and the Darwin eect. Moreover, correction due to the nucleus motion has been also calculated. Our results were obtained by using two new types of compact and accurate trial wave functions for the helium ions. For excited states we used simple trial wave functions of good quality and accurate results. The obtained results are in good agreement with the most recent previous accurate values and also with the exact values
Towards a comprehensive design-time compliance management:A roadmap
Today’s business climate demands business processes to meet many compliance regulations that require all enterprises to review their processes and ensure that they satisfy the set of relevant compliance requirements. Compliance management should be considered from the very early stages of business process design, thus achieving compliance by design. In this paper, we give a brief overview of an approach for managing business process compliance during design-time phase of business process lifecycle. We also discuss the roadmap for the key components and their relationship for a comprehensive design-time compliance support
Phenotypic and cytogenetic spectrum of 9p trisomy
Trisomy 9p is one of the most frequent autosomal anomalies compatible with long survival rate. The spectrum of clinical severity in trisomy 9 roughly correlates with the extent of trisomic chromosome material. Trisomy 9p is a clinically well delineated syndrome and of all stigmata craniofacial dysmorphism is most specific. In this study we report five cases with de novo trisomy 9p. The study aimed at the identification of the genotype/phenotype correlations in patients with different breakpoints. GTG banding, DAPI stain, whole chromosome paint, centromere, telomere and 9p21 specific locus probes demonstrated that partial trisomy 9p in case 1 was due to isochromosome 9p with translocation of the long arm of re-arranged chromosome 9 onto the short arm of chromosome 13, cases 2 and 3 had intrachromosomal duplication of the short arm of chromosome 9 [dup(9)(p21p24)], case 4 had "classical" 9p trisomy and case 5 had duplication of whole short arm and part of the long arm of chromosome 9 (partial 9 trisomy). Although cases 1 to 4 had trisomy involving 9p, cases 1 and 2 exhibited the classical clinical manifestations of 9p trisomy, while cases 3 and 4 had additional features overlapping with Coffin-Siris syndrome. The present study strengthens the association of Coffin-Siris syndrome and 9p, the significance of such observations may point to possible gene location of Coffin-Siris syndrome on 9p. Case 5 had additional manifestations more than those typical of trisomy 9p which could be due to duplication of 9q21 region. Wide gap between 1st and 2nd toes, observed in the studied cases, can be added to the phenotype of this trisomy. Three of our cases had brain malformations, case 3 had dilated ventricles with hypogenesis of corpus callosum, case 4 had agenesis of corpus callosum, and case 5 had Dandy-Walker malformation. We also suggest that dosage effects of genes located in 9pter-q22 contribute to the etiology of Dandy-Walker syndrome. We recommend MRI studies as a routine in all cases with trisomy 9p
The theory of optical dispersive shock waves in photorefractive media
The theory of optical dispersive shocks generated in propagation of light
beams through photorefractive media is developed. Full one-dimensional
analytical theory based on the Whitham modulation approach is given for the
simplest case of sharp step-like initial discontinuity in a beam with
one-dimensional strip-like geometry. This approach is confirmed by numerical
simulations which are extended also to beams with cylindrical symmetry. The
theory explains recent experiments where such dispersive shock waves have been
observed.Comment: 26 page
Scissors modes in triaxial metal clusters
We study the scissors mode (orbital M1 excitations) in small Na clusters,
triaxial metal clusters and and the
close-to-spherical , all described in DFT with detailed ionic
background. The scissors modes built on spin-saturated ground and
spin-polarized isomeric states are analyzed in virtue of both macroscopic
collective and microscopic shell-model treatments. It is shown that the mutual
destruction of Coulomb and the exchange-correlation parts of the residual
interaction makes the collective shift small and the net effect can depend on
details of the actual excited state. The crosstalk with dipole and spin-dipole
modes is studied in detail. In particular, a strong crosstalk with spin-dipole
negative-parity mode is found in the case of spin-polarized states. Triaxiality
and ionic structure considerably complicate the scissors response, mainly at
expense of stronger fragmentation of the strength. Nevertheless, even in these
complicated cases the scissors mode is mainly determined by the global
deformation. The detailed ionic structure destroys the spherical symmetry and
can cause finite M1 response (transverse optical mode) even in clusters with
zero global deformation. But its strength turns out to be much smaller than for
the genuine scissors modes in deformed systems.Comment: 17 pages, 5 figure
