Testicular Cancer Update
The advances seen in the treatment of testicular cancer are among the great achievements in modern medicine. These advances were made possible by the collaborative efforts of cancer researchers around the world. Investigators have been able to address many questions regarding the treatment of patients with disease limited to the testis, those with metastasis to the retroperitoneum only, and those with advanced metastatic disease. Questions answered include the chemotherapeutic agents to be used and in what combinations, the proper intensity of treatment and appropriate dosing, the optimal number of cycles of chemotherapy according to validated risk stratification, appropriate surgical approaches that preserve sexual function, the treatment of relapsed disease, what supportive care measures to take, and survivorship issues following treatment of testicular cancer. Today, cure is achievable in 95% of all patients with testicular cancer and 80% of those who have metastatic disease. Despite remarkable results with frontline and salvage combination chemotherapy, metastatic testicular cancer remains incurable in approximately 10% of patients, and novel treatment approaches are warranted. Entanglement and Nonunitary Evolution
We consider a collapsing relativistic spherical shell for a free quantum
field. Once the center of the wavefunction of the shell passes a certain radius
R, the degrees of freedom inside R are traced over. We show that an observer
outside this region will determine that the evolution of the system is
nonunitary. We argue that this phenomenon is generic to entangled systems, and

Primary Teratoma of the Lesser Sac: Lesser Sac Teratoma
Germ cell tumors predominantly involve the gonads but may rarely be found outside of the gonads, primarily in midline structures. We describe the case of a 27-year-old male with an asymptomatic 8âcm teratoma located within the lesser sac of his omentum. This is the fourth case of a teratoma located within the lesser sac of the omentum, which provides the opportunity to make some comparisons. Instantons of Type IIB Supergravity in Ten Dimensions
A family of SO(10) symmetric instanton solutions in Type IIB supergravity is
developed. The instanton of least action is a candidate for the low-energy,
semiclassical approximation to the {D=--1} brane. Unlike a previously published
solution,[GGP] this admits an interpretation as a tunneling amplitude between
perturbatively degenerate asymptotic states, but with action twice that found
previously. A number of associated issues are discussed such as the relation
between the magnetic and electric pictures, an inversion symmetry of the
dilaton and the metric, the topology of the background, and some
properties of the solution in an "instanton frame" corresponding to a
Lagrangian in which the dilaton's kinetic energy vanishes.Comment: 15 pages, no figures; Version 2 has revised sections IV and V.

Vacuum Ambiguity in de Sitter Space at Strong Coupling
It is well known that in the weak coupling regime, quantum field theories in
de Sitter space do not have a unique vacuum, but a class of vacua parametrized
by a complex parameter , i.e., the so-called -vacua. In this
article, using gauge/gravity duality, we calculate the symmetric two-point
function of strongly coupled supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory on
. We find that there is a class of de Sitter invariant vacua,

Boson--fermion bound states in two dimensional QCD
We derive the boson--fermion bound state equation in a two dimensional gauge
theory in the large--\nc limit. We analyze the properties of this equation
and in particular, find that the mass trajectory is linear with respect to the

De Sitter Waves and the Zero Curvature Limit
We show that a particular set of global modes for the massive de Sitter
scalar field (the de Sitter waves) allows to manage the group representations
and the Fourier transform in the flat (Minkowskian) limit. This is in
opposition to the usual acceptance based on a previous result, suggesting the
appearance of negative energy in the limit process. This method also confirms
that the Euclidean vacuum, in de Sitter spacetime, has to be preferred as far
