    Bone mineral content after renal transplantation

    Forearm bone mineral content (BMC), as evaluated by photonabsorption densitometry, was measured in 28 cadaver kidney donor recipients who entered the study 8 weeks postoperatively and were followed up for 18 months. BMC decreased signifiantly (p<0.05) but marginally in placebo-treated patients (n=14) (initial BMC 1.09±0.25 g/cm; final BMC 1.05±0.24). Fourteen patients were prophylactically given 1,25(OH)2vitamin D3 in a dose which avoided hypercalcemia and hypercalciuria (sim0.25 µg/day); under 1,25(OH)2 vitamin D3 prophylaxis a significant decrease of forearm BMC was observed no longer (initial BMC 0.94±0.21 g/cm; final BMC 0.95±0.21), but the difference between placebo and 1,25(OH)2 vitamin D3 narrowly missed statistical significance (p=0.066). It is concluded that the decrease of forearm BMC is negligible in transplant recipients with low steroid regimens. The data suggest a trend for prophylaxis with 1,25(OH)2 vitamin D3 to slightly ameliorate forearm (cortical) BMC loss

    Yam production play a vital role in the socio-economical scene of Benue State. This study seeks to determine the concentration of heavy metal in Yam tubers produced in Benue State. Two species of Yams Dioscorea rotundata and Dioscorea alata were selected as they are the most cultivated species in Benue state. Yams were sampled from nine sampling stations; three farming communities from Oturkpo, Ukum, and Tarka Local Government Areas (LGAs). A total number of 324 yam tubers were sampled for laboratory analyses of heavy metals (Arsenic (As), Cadmium (Cd), Chromium (Cr), and Lead (Pb), and residues of fertilizers (NPK, Urea, and Biuret impurities). The concentration of the heavy metals were analyzed using Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry (AAS) 6800. The mean concentration of As, Cd, Cr, and Pb in the yams were 1.3887, 0.0126, 0.0452, and 0.0286 Mg/kg. The concentration of As, Cd, Cr, and Pb in Dioscorea alata were 2.7657, 0.0125, 0.03570, and 0.0251 while the concentration of the heavy metals in Dioscorea rotundata were 0.0136, 0.0129, 0.0550, and 0.0325&nbsp; Mg/Kg respectively. Arsenic dominated al heavy metals analyzed in the yam varieties and the concentration of the heavy metals varied between the two sampled yam species. It was observed that the concentration of As, Cd, and Pb were greater than the Maximum Residual Limits (MRLs) of the World Health Organization (WHO) and Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO)

    This study point is to know the influence of macroeconomic factors inclusive of inflation, exchange rates, interest rates and company performance consisting of ROA, DER, EPS on Sharia stock prices on the Indonesian Sharia Stock Index (ISSI) for the 2013-2019 period. The research methodology used is descriptive-quantitative method using multiple linear regression analysis techniques. This study uses secondary data derived from data from Bursa Efek Indonesia (BEI) and Badan Pusat Statistik (BPS). The object of this research is companies that are included in ISSI with a total sample of 108 companies that have met the sample selection criteria, namely the purposive sampling method. Hypothesis testing is done by using a path diagram. The results of this study indicate that macroeconomic factors including inflation, exchange rates, interest rates partially have no influence on Sharia stock prices. Company performance factors such as ROA and EPS have a positive impact on Sharia stock prices, while DER has no influence

    Sosialisasi Kebersihan Lingkungan dan Pembuatan Tempat Sampah dari Ban Bekas

    Menumbuhkan kesadaran masyarakat untuk hidup bersih dan bebas dari sampah merupakan cita -cita kita bersama, tidak hanya masyarakat yang berada di daerah perkotaan tetapi juga masyarakat yang ada di pedesaan. Kurangnya pengetahuan dan kesadaran masyarakat Desa Jeringo akan pentignya menjaga lingkungan, dan bagaimana cara mengelola sampah, dapat dilihat dari masih banyaknya warga Desa Jeringo yang membuang sampah di kebun bahkan disungai, serta kurangnya tempat pembuangan sampah di rumah – rumah ataupun ditempat umum. Untuk menumbuhkan kesadaran masyarakat tentang peduli lingkungan, membutuhkan edukasi yang harus dilakukan secara terus menerus, agar dapat merubah kebiasaan dan pola pikir masyarakat. Pengabdian ini bertujuan menumbuhkan kesadaran masyarakat untuk membuang sampah pada tempatnya serta mensosialisasikan cara pembuatan tempat sampah dari ban bekas. Bentuk kegiatan berupa sosialisasi mengenai kebersihan lingkungan dan mengadakan pelatihan kepada masyarakat untuk membuat tempat sampah dari barang – barang yang ada disekeliling kita yang sudah tidak terpakai salah satunya menggunakan ban bekas. Hasil dari kegiatan adalah bertambahnya pengetahuan masyarakat terhadap pentingnya menjaga kebersihan lingkungan melalui pemanfaatan tempat sampah yang telah dibuat dilihat dari lingkungan tempat tinggal yang sudah bebas dari sampah, serta kemampuan masyarakat dalam membuat sendiri tempat sampah dari ban bekas
