    Phase equilibria in the sections InSe-PbSe and ln

    Four phases [α(H), α(R), β(R) and γ(H)], with a composition In2Se3, were isolated and their transition temperature determined prior to the study of the phase equilibrium in the section In2Se3-PbSe. Two cross sections of the ternary Pb-ln-Se: InSe-PbSe and In2Se3-PbSe were studied using thermal analysis, X-ray diffraction crystallography and micrographie observations. They are both quasi- binary sections.The first one is an eutectic type diagram with an horizontal line at 572°C. The solubility limits are estimated to be 1 and 80 mol% PbSe at this temperature.The second section is more complicated. It shows a large solid solution based on PbIn2Se4 (50 mol% PbSe). In addition to the different In2Se3 phases, two new ternary compounds have been evidenced in the diagram: Pb3Inl4Se24 (30 mol% PbSe), stable between 695 and 715°C and Pb2In6Sell (40 mol% PbSe) which decomposes peritectically at temperature of 685°C. All these phases have been synthetized, including boundary solid solutions and crystallographically characterized

    ABSTRACT: A new tripodal ligand, N,N-Bis(3,5-dimethylpyrazol-1-ylmethyl)-1-hydroxy-4-aminobutane (bpmhb), has been synthetized. Reaction of (bpmhb) with Copper (II) chloridedihydrate [CuCl2, 2H2O] in methanol produced the new complex Cu(bpmhb)Cl2. Thecomplex crystallizes in the monoclinic system, space group P21, the cell dimensions are a =7.990 Å, b = 14.620 Å, c = 8.590 Å, α = 90°, β = 95.80°, γ = 90°, V= 998.3 Å3 and Z =2.The single-crystal X-ray structure of the title compound, N,N-Bis(3,5-dimethylpyrazol-1-ylmethyl)-1-hydroxy-4-aminobutane Copper(II) dichloride shows that the surroundinggeometry of the copper (II) ion can be described as being intermediate between a distortedsquare pyramid and a trigonal bipyramid. The OH group function form an intramolecularhydrogen bonding with the chloride atom Cl1.With molecular oxygen as oxidant, this complex catalyzed the conversion of catechol toquinone with a good catalytic activity
