Half-metallic ferromagnetism in transition-metal doped germanium nitride: A first-principles study
The electronic and magnetic properties of transition-metal doped
-Ge3N4 have been studied using first-principles calculations. The
results show that the substitutional transition-metal impurities tend to
cluster. The V and Cr doped Ge3N4 compounds are ferromagnetic semiconductors,
while the compounds with Mn and Fe doping show a half-metallic ferromagnetic
character.Comment: 19 pages, 4 figure
PEAK-TO-PEAK DETECTOR FOR THE ARTERIAL PULSATIONS IN THE PLETHYSMOGRAM .2. RESULTS OF ITS USE DURING ANESTHESIA
In anaesthesia, the peak-to-peak value of the arterial pulsations in the plethysmogram is used to assess the peripheral circulation. The detection by a conventional peak detector is often impeded, however, because its output signal includes the peak-to-peak value of respiratory waves. Moreover, it does not eliminate electrical and mechanical disturbances. A newly designed peak detector is compared with a conventional type during anaesthesia in a clinical setting. The results show that the new detector actually indicates, only the amplitude of the heart synchronous arterial pulsations and that its disturbance suppression is very satisfactory. Its use can be extended to other purposes as well
