In this article we study a new background revealed due to Russian translations made by N. Mavlevich in 2015 of the first unpublished novel by Romain Gary, holder of the two Prix Goncourt prizes for his novels The Roots of Heaven (Les Racines du ciel) and The Life Before Us (La vie devant soi) published under the pseudonym Emile Ajar. The empirical writer mentioned about his debut novel in the book The Night is Calm (La nuit sera calme) and his posthumous literary essay The Life and Death of Emil Ajar (Vie et mort d'Emile Ajar) thus giving a clue to understanding of his “creative laboratory” related to phenomenal literary mystification. We assume that language experts will be interested in studying of Romain Gary's linguistic biography who created his novels in English and French, because Russia was the country where his linguistic development had started. By understanding the role and place of the author's creative laboratory in linguistics we can define relevance and academic novelty of suggested study. The study allows to analyze Romain Gary's creative works from a new perspective and goes beyond the existing method of obtaining knowledge. The main research objects include the author's language and linguistic behavior of his characters that are featured with well-structured images evoked by Russian words kept in mind from childhood. This system of values is close to the Russian readers and is in tune with the spirit of the modern age. This aspect in the framework of the language-specific nature can be a subject for further research. Linguistic findings made by Romain Gary facilitated the development of the literary language and were focused on increasing of capabilities of the literary speech. Analysis of linguistic innovations in the Romain Gary's creative laboratory allows to receive important information about peculiarities of links between the cognitive and linguistic content discovered in linguistic facts and speech phenomena and make some crucial observations.peer-reviewe

The miR-142 hairpin gives rise to the "guide strand" miR-142-3p and the sister "passenger" strand miR-142-5p. miR-142-3p has been shown to play critical, non-redundant functions in the development of the hematopoietic lineage. We have recently reported that miR-142-3p is critical for the control of Wnt signaling in the mesenchyme of the developing lung. miR-142-5p has been proposed to control adaptive growth in cardiomyocytes postnatally and its increase is associated with extensive apoptosis and cardiac dysfunction in a murine heart failure model. Using homologous recombination, we now report the generation and validation of miR-142-null mice. miR-142-null mice show a significant decrease in th expression levels of both the 3p and 5p isoforms. The expression of Bzrap1, a gene immediately flanking miR-142 is not altered while the expression of a long non-coding RNA embedded within the miR-142 gene is decreased. miR-142-null newborn pups appear normal and are normally represented indicating absence of embryonic lethality. At embryonic day 18.5, miR-142-null lungs display increased Wnt signaling associated with the up-regulation of Apc and p300, two previously reported targets of miR-142-3p and -5p, respectively. Adult miR-142-null animals display impaired hematopoietic lineage formation identical to previously reported miR-142 gene trap knockdown mice. We report, for the first time, the homologous recombination-based miR-142-null mice that will be useful for the scientific community working on the diverse biological functions of miR-142

MicroRNA-142 is a multifaceted regulator in organogenesis, homeostasis, and disease

© 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.Over the past decade, microRNA-142 (miR-142) is emerging as a major regulator of cell fate decision in the hematopoietic system. However, miR-142 is expressed in many other tissues, and recent evidence suggests that it may play a more pleiotropic role during embryonic development. In addition, miR-142 has been shown to play important functions in disease. miR-142 displays a functional role in cancer, virus infection, inflammation, and immune tolerance. Both a guide strand (miR-142-3p) and passenger strand (miR-142-5p) are generated from the miR-142 hairpin. miR-142-3p and -5p display overlapping but also independent target genes. Loss of function mouse models (genetrap, global knock out [KO], and conditional KO) have been reported and support the important role of miR-142 in different biological processes. This review will summarize the abundant literature already available for miR-142 and will lay the foundation for future works on this important microRNA. © 2017 Elsevier B.V. The present work introduces optimal modifiсation of core-shell composite nanomaterial, where small (2–8 nm) Ag 0 nanoparticles are deposited onto large (about 140 nm) silica spheres for application in oxidative catalysis. The size of Ag 0 and density of its deposition onto silica spheres was modified by the post treatment of initially deposited Ag 0 (about 30 nm) by hydrogen peroxide in specific conditions. The comparison of catalytic effect of the post-treated and initial SN-Ag 0 in electrochemical phosphonation of benzo(thia)oxazoles by diethyl phosphite in oxidative conditions revealed the difference between the composite nanoparticles. In particular, the post-treated SNs-Ag 0 nanoparticles exhibit efficient catalytic effect in oxidative conditions resulting in facile and green method for synthesis of phosphonated benzooxa(thia)zoles, while no catalytic effect is observed under the use of larger Ag 0 nanoparticles deposited onto silica spheres. The use of Ag 0 -based nanomaterial in oxidative catalysis had been never demonstrated before

    Get PDF
Introduction. The standard of 1st line treatment of HER2+ metastatic breast cancer (mBC) is double blockade with trastuzumab and pertuzumab + taxane, 2nd line – Trastuzumab-emtazine. There are no standards for further treatment, as well as the optimal drug sequence. Expansion of the arsenal of therapeutic possibilities and the use of new combinations will certainly improve the results of treatment of this category of patients and increase their life expectancy.Aim. We sought to describe treatment patterns of eribulin and clinical outcomes of metastatic HER2-positive breast cancer treated with eribulin plus trastuzumab combination in academic institutions and community oncology practices across the Russian Federation.Materials and methods. Patients treated with eribulin anytime between Jan, 2014 and Sep, 2019 with a diagnosis of MBC were identified by 23 providers from Russia. Providers retrospectively reviewed the health records and abstracted selected data points into an electronic case report form for each eligible patient.Results. 100 HER2-positive pts received eribulin in combination with trastuzumab. Median age was 55 (31–80) yrs and ECOG status 0–3. 67% pts had visceral metastases. Eribulin was administered as 1st and 2nd line to 23 (23%) pts, 3rd line to 31 (31%) pts, 4th line and later to 46 (46%). Median number of cycles was 5 (2–27). ORR was 12%, SD – 72%, SD > 6 months – 23%, PD – 16%. Clinical efficacy rate achieved in 35%. Median PFS was 5.07 months (95% CI 4.021–6.119). According to the ER-status the response to eribulin and trastuzumab was different. ORR was 18.8%, SD 72.9% in pts with ER-positive MBC (n = 48) and 5.8% and 71.2% respectively in ER-negative MBC (n = 52). Median PFS was 6.97 months (95% CI 3.924–10.016) in pts with ER-positive MBC and 4.67 months (95% CI 3.841–5.499) in ER-negative MBC (р = 0.3). The combination was well tolerated: dose reductions were required in 12% pts, withdrawal due to toxicity in 4% pts. The most common type of toxicity was hematological with neutropenia Gr III-IV in 14 (14%) pts. Peripheral neuropathy Gr III was observed in 5 (5%) pts. No cardiotoxicity was detected.Conclusions. This is the real-life data of clinical outcomes for patients receiving eribulin plus trastuzumab for HER2-positive MBC throughout the Russian Federation. Our experience with eribulin plus trastuzumab demonstrates that this combination may be a potential effective treatment option for HER-2 positive MBC patients
