Improving Reading Comprehension in Dual Language Programs
The low achievement levels and high dropout rates of English Language Learners (ELLs) continue to be a great challenge for educators. One area that can provide us with useful information on how to improve the education of ELLs is dual language programs. Research in this area indicates that native language development is important for academic success. The present study examined the cognitive reading strategies of students enrolled in a dual language program. The results indicate that both language groups of students were using successful cognitive reading strategies to comprehend text. The study also describes how the questionnaire used in the study can assist teachers in diagnosing the type(s) of cognitive reading strategies that students use
Poisson-Jacobi reduction of homogeneous tensors
The notion of homogeneous tensors is discussed. We show that there is a
one-to-one correspondence between multivector fields on a manifold ,
homogeneous with respect to a vector field on , and first-order
polydifferential operators on a closed submanifold of codimension 1 such
that is transversal to . This correspondence relates the
Schouten-Nijenhuis bracket of multivector fields on to the Schouten-Jacobi
bracket of first-order polydifferential operators on and generalizes the
Poissonization of Jacobi manifolds. Actually, it can be viewed as a
super-Poissonization. This procedure of passing from a homogeneous multivector
field to a first-order polydifferential operator can be also understood as a
sort of reduction; in the standard case -- a half of a Poisson reduction. A
dual version of the above correspondence yields in particular the
correspondence between -homogeneous symplectic structures on and

Unimodularity and invariant volume forms for Hamiltonian dynamics on Poisson-Lie groups
In this paper, we discuss several relations between the existence of
invariant volume forms for Hamiltonian systems on Poisson-Lie groups and the
unimodularity of the Poisson-Lie structure. In particular, we prove that
Hamiltonian vector fields on a Lie group endowed with a unimodular Poisson-Lie
structure preserve a multiple of any left-invariant volume on the group.
Conversely, we also prove that if there exists a Hamiltonian function such that
the identity element of the Lie group is a nondegenerate singularity and the
associated Hamiltonian vector field preserves a volume form, then the
Poisson-Lie structure is necessarily unimodular. Furthermore, we illustrate our
theory with different interesting examples, both on semisimple and unimodular
Poisson-Lie groups.Comment: 17 page
Lagrangian submanifolds and dynamics on Lie affgebroids
We introduce the notion of a symplectic Lie affgebroid and their Lagrangian
submanifolds in order to describe the Lagrangian (Hamiltonian) dynamics on a
Lie affgebroid in terms of this type of structures. Several examples are

Injertos osteocondrales congelados en el conejo: Estudio experimental
Con el propósito de analizar un protocolo de congelación de cartílago completo estudiando y la viabilidad del cartílago tas la implantación se ha realizado un estudio experimental en 60 rodillas de 45 conejos de Nueva Zelanda en población no genéticamente pura. Se extrajeron injertos osteocartilaginosos de 4 mm de diámetro y 2-3 mm de espesor, incluyendo cartílago articular y hueso subcondral que fueron sometidos a congelación lenta hasta -196º en Planer Kryo-10, Serie II, Controlled Rate Freezers, siguiendo un descenso de temperatura controlada bajo crioprotección con Dimetilsulfóxido, propanodiol y sacarosa. Posteriormente fueron descongelados e implantados en cóndilos femorales. Los injertos evolucionaron a tejido amorfo acelular y pasados los 2 meses, tras la incorporación del componente óseo se desarrolló tejido ibrocartilaginoso de sustitución. El presente estudio indica que el cartílago articular congelado no mantiene su viabilidad tras la implantación.The purpose of this study was to analyze a protocol for freezing whole cartilage and to study the viability of cartilage after the implant in 60 knees of 45 New Zealand rabbits from a genetically impure population. Osteocartilaginous implants were removed, measuring 4 mm in diameter and 2-3 mm thickness, inclunding the articular cartilage and the suchondral bone, and slow freezing up -196º using Planer Kyro-10, Series II, Controlled Rate Freezers, following a controlled drop in temperature under cyrso-protection with Dimethylsulfoxide, propanediol and sacarose. After thawing grafts were implanted in femoral condyles. The implants evolves into an acellular amorphous tissue and after 2 months, period in which the incorporation of the osseous compound occurs, substitute fibrocartilaginous tiusse develops.
