Distribuição dos intervalos do piscar espontâneo em medidas repetidas com e sem anestesia tópica ocular

PURPOSE: To determine if the distribution of inter-blink time intervals is constant with repeated measurements with and without topical ocular anesthesia. METHODS: Inter-blink time was measured in 15 normal subjects ranging from 19 to 32 years (mean ± SD= 23.9 ± 3.20) with the magnetic search coil technique on 3 different occasions, the last one with topical ocular anesthesia. RESULTS: One-way analysis of variance for repeated measurements showed that topical anesthesia significantly reduced the blink rate (blinks per minute), which was constant in the first two measurements (F=8.27, p=0.0015. First measurement: mean ± SD= 13.7 ± 7.8; second measurement: 13.1 ± 8.5 SD; with topical anesthesia: = 7.2 ± 4.6). However, distributions shape was not affected when the blink rate was reduced. The three distributions followed a Log Normal pattern, which means that the time interval between blinks was symmetrical when the time logarithm was considered. CONCLUSIONS: Topical ocular anesthesia reduces the rate of spontaneous blinking, but does not change the distribution of inter-blink time interval.OBJETIVOS: Determinar se a distribuição dos intervalos do piscar espontâneo se mantém em medidas repetidas com e sem anesthesia tópica ocular. MÉTODOS: Os intervalos entre movimentos de piscar da pálpebra superior foram medidos com rastreamento magnético (Magnetic Search Coil) em 15 sujeitos (11 do sexo masculino) normais com idades entre 19 a 32 anos (média 23,86 ± 3,20 dp anos). RESULTADOS: Análise de variância unifatorial para medidas repetidas mostrou que a anesthesia tópica ocular diminuiu significativamente a frequência média (número de blinks/minuto) do piscar espontâneo, a qual se manteve constante nas duas primeiras medidas (F=8,27, p=0,0015. Primeira medida 13,7 ± 7,8 DP; segunda medida 13,1 ± 8,5; com anestesia tópica 7,2 ± 4,6). No entanto, a forma da distribuição nas 3 medidas obedeceu uma distribuição do tipo Log Normal, de modo que os intervalos de piscar foram normalmente distribuídos quando o logaritmo do intervalo foi considerado. CONCLUSÕES: A anesthesia tópica ocular diminui significativamente a frequência de piscar, mas não altera a distribuição dos intervalos do piscar espontâneo

Considerations Of E-Commerce Within A Globalizing Context

The objective of this work, is to analyze the meaning of electronic commerce in our days taking into account the information technologies; it also will analyze their adjustments, their trends and applications of the same, in the Business to Consumer Relations (B2C), Business to Employee (B2E) and Business to Administration (B2A), Consumer to Consumer (C2C), Citizen to Government (C2G), Business to Government (B2G) and, Business to Business (B2B), as well as how information systems have been very useful to reduce costs, getting technology to change from being an operating support tool to become a strategy one, to increase the sales volume and the profits of the business as a result of this. The trend being taken by businesses and consumers has increased the participation of the companies which apply it in a comprehensive manner, since they reach international markets, while also face another kind of competition that takes place in a global market. We conclude that electronic commerce will remain a tool of great importance to efficiently manage the chains of supply between businesses and consumers through the Internet which allows an integration to reduce costs of ordering, distribution, administration and delivery of input materials

Thermoluminescent Characteristics of Li2B4O7 Doped with Mn2+ and Eu3+ Ions

Analysis of thermoluminescent properties were made for two samples; Li2B4O7, Li2B4O7:Mn2+:Eu3+. These samples were prepared by melt quenching method. The glow curves of the samples show two broad peaks at 160º C and 245 ºC, and a high peak at 130ºC for Li2B4O7 doped. The response of the materials were analyzed according to the doses (0.2-80 Gy), fading (0-72 hours) and reproducibility of the experiment (10 times). To determine how the glow curve is formed, thermal bleaching for a dose of 5 Gy were made from room temperature to 300º C. Besides, X-ray diffraction patterns were recorded to identify the structure and grain size of the samples

Modeling of Energy Distributions in Pseudo-Rest Frame Analyses of Two-Body Decays with Missing Particles

In this study, we introduce a parametric function designed to describe the energy distribution of the observed particle within the framework of two-body decays involving one undetected particle, analyzed using the pseudo-rest frame approximation. While we illustrate its effectiveness through the specific case study of the Lepton Flavor Violating decay $\tau \rightarrow l+\alpha$, this parametric function is broadly applicable to a wide range of pseudo-rest frame method-related searches involving undetected particles. Remarkably, it requires only a single simulation to account for the smearing effects resulting from the pseudo-rest frame approximation. The uniqueness of this function lies in its dependency on the mass of the undetected particle, enabling continuous exploration of the mass parameter space. We validate the performance of our parametric function using simulated datasets and find that it exhibits comparable performance to traditional simulation-based methods. Notably, our approach offers the distinct advantage of accommodating any mass value for the undetected particle without the need for multiple simulations.Comment: 5 pages, 7 figure

A wave-to-wire model for grid integration studies of oscillating-body wave energy converters

Wave energy converters (WECs) are still at an earlier stage of development when compared to variable renewable energy systems based on wind or solar power. Indeed, only a few WECs have exported power to electric grids until recently. Thus, the development of mathematical models able to represent essential aspects of the system and its connection to the grid becomes fundamental to assess the impact of integrating wave power to grids. This work develops a fully integrated wave-to-wire model, where the electrical model has re-configurable dynamic models of rotary and linear generators (with controllers) to accommodate different types of oscillating-body systems. Such an electrical model is interfaced with the WEC hydrodynamic and mechanical models. A complete wave-to-grid model is presented by integrating the generator system model, an electrical grid interface unit and a network equivalent for the receiving grid in a unified simulation environment with the WEC-Sim, an open-source tool for simulating the dynamic behaviour of WECs. Controle em agronegócio: um estudo sobre a inclusão de eventos ambientais mensuráveis monetariamente aos softwares Contagri 2000 e Bonanza 2.0

Curso de Ciências Contábeis0 objetivo deste trabalho é apresentar ferramentas de controle em agronegócio considerando eventos ambientais mensuráveis monetariamente. Para o cumprimento do objetivo proposto o trabalho dividiu-se em três fases: na primeira trata-se da fundamentação teórica onde são apresentados termos da contabilidade rural e ambiental; na segunda são apresentadas duas ferramentas de controle em aaronegócio e por Ultimo um estudc de caso. Foi escolhida como objeto de estudo uma propriedade rural situada no município de Rio do Campo, em Santa Catarina produtora de arroz ecológico inspecionada pelo IBD — Instituto Biodinâmico, órgão certificador de produtos orgânicos no Brasil Os softwares utilizados para o trabalho foram o Contagri 2000 da EPAGRI — Empresa de Pesquisa e Extensão Rural do Estado de Santa Catarina e o Bonanza 2.0 da TD Software Ltda / UFV — Universidade Federal de Viçosa. Além da evidência dada ao tema, foram feitas algumas adaptações no Contagri 2000 preparando-o para futuras implementações em sua forma de apresentação do Balanço Patrimonial/Ambiental buscando informar e motivar pessoas envolvidas na cadeia do agronegócio, principalmente aquelas que têm o cuidado de investir no meio-ambiente

Intestinal resection and primary anastomosis as treatment of intussusception due to ileum lipoma: case report and review

Intussusception is an unusual cause of intestinal occlusion in adults, accounting for 5% of cases, and is the result of an underlying pathology in 90% of cases, 60% of which are tumors. The pathogenesis describes the invagination of an intestinal segment into the lumen of an adjacent segment with subsequent alterations in irrigation, risk of necrosis and perforation. Surgical management is indicated in adult patients to restore intestinal transit and to exclude malignancy as the axis of the intussusception. We present the case of a 58-year-old female patient with enteric intussusception at ileum due to lipoma, who underwent bowel resection and manual end-to-end intestinal anastomosis in two planes

Amyand's hernia is described as the presence of the caecal appendix within the hernial sac of an incarcerated inguinal hernia. It was reported as an incidental finding in 1% of cases and with evidence of appendicitis in 0.1% of cases. The approach involves performing appendectomy and inguinal repair in the same surgical time, depending on the clinical scenario and the surgeon's decisions.
