    Magnetic Phase Separation and Magnetic Moment Alignment in Ordered Alloys FE 65

    The structure and the magnetic state of ordered Fe65Al35-xMx (Mx = Ga, B; x = 0; 5 at.%) alloys are investigated using X-ray diffraction, Mössbauer spectroscopy, and magnetic measurements. The behavior of the magnetic characteristics and Mössbauer spectra of the binary alloy Fe65Al35 and the ternary alloy with gallium addition Fe65Al30Ga5 is explained in terms of the phase separation into two magnetic phases: a ferromagnetic one and a spin density wave. It is shown that the addition of boron to the initial binary alloy Fe65Al35 results in the ferromagnetic behavior of the ternary alloy

    Stromal and Tumor Glioma-Derived Cells with Similar Characteristics have Differences in α-Smooth Muscle Actin Expression and Localization

    Gliomas are solid brain tumors composed of tumor cells and recruited heterogenic stromal components. The study of the interactions between the perivascular niche and its surrounding cells is of great value in unraveling mechanisms of drug resistance in malignant gliomas. In this study, we isolated the stromal diploid cell population from oligodendroglioma and a mixed population of tumor aneuploid and stromal diploid cells from astrocytoma specimens. The stromal cells expressed neural stem/progenitor and mesenchymal markers showing the same discordant phenotype that is typical for glioma cells. Moreover, some of the stromal cells expressed CD133. For the first time, we demonstrated that this type of stromal cells had the typical myofibroblastic phenotype as the α-SMA+ cells formed α-SMA fibers and exhibited the specific function to deposit extracellular matrix (ECM) proteins at least in vitro. Immunofluorescent analysis showed diffuse or focal α-SMA staining in the cytoplasm of the astrocytoma-derived, A172, T98G, and U251MG glioma cells. We could suggest that α-SMA may be one of the main molecules, bearing protective functions. Possible mechanisms and consequences of α-SMA disruptions in gliomas are discussed

    COGNITIVE IMPAIRMENTS AFTER STROKE

    Thirty-two patients (mean age 53.912.4 years) with prior stroke were examined to clarify the pattern and degree of cognitive impairments depending on the site of a lesion. A control group comprised 32 subjects (mean age 52.112.9 years) without nervous system pathology. The authors made a complete clinical study to evaluate the neurological and mental status, a standardized interview, and A.R. Luria's neuropsychological tests. The patients with prior stroke were found to have lower values of auditory-verbal short-term and long-term memory, impaired concentration and voluntary attention scope. Mild cognitive disorders were established in middle-aged patients and moderate cognitive disorders of amnestic multifunctional type were in elderly patients. Auditory-verbal memory, visual gnosis, and some speech-related thought functions were impaired when in the involvement of the temporal and posterior frontal lobes in patients with prior stroke in the middle cerebral artery bed. Impaired visual image recognition and lower visual voluntary attention were detected in patients with prior stroke in the anterior and posterior cerebral arteries

    Child injuries in a modern city

    In a large industrial city, an analysis of children’s injuries was carried out from 2010 to 2016. The negative dynamics of the increase in the number of injuries has been established, with an annual growth rate of 3.5%. In the structure, the largest share was domestic and street injuries, respectively 43.4 and 39.0%. The most severe traumatic injuries took place in the victims of the accident, a third of which (30%) needed to be hospitalized. For a more complete account of injuries and investigation of circumstances, their official registration in the “Center of Hygiene and Epidemiology” is necessary. Another direction is the adjustment of educational programs.В крупном промышленном городе проведен анализ детского травматизма с 2010-го по 2016 год. Установлена негативная динамика увеличения количества травм, с ежегодным темпом прироста в 3,5%. В структуре наибольшую долю составляли бытовая и уличная травмы, соответственно 43,4 и 39,0%. Наиболее тяжелые травматические повреждения имели место у пострадавших в ДТП, треть из них (30%) нуждались в госпитализации и лечении в стационаре. Для более полного учета травм и расследования обстоятельств необходима их официальная регистрация в «ЦГиЭ». Другое направление профилактики — корректировка образовательных программ по БЖД

    Parameters of cellular and humoral immunity in patients with uterine leiomyoma in reproductive age

    Objective: to determine changes in clinical and immunological parameters in patients with uterine leiomyoma, depending on the reproductive age. Study design: cohort prospective comparative study. Materials and methods. Investigation and surgical treatment of 220 patients of reproductive age was conducted. The main group consisted of 190 women aged 18-45 years, including 110 patients of early age (18-35 years) and 80 women of late reproductive age (36-45 years). Criteria for inclusion in the main group were uterine leiomyoma and the woman's reproductive age. The control group included 30 healthy women aged 18-45 years with normal reproductive function and no gynecological diseases. Results. Immunological parameters of peripheral blood of women with uterine leiomyoma were characterized by a statistically significant increase in comparison with the control group. The maximum and reliable values of the growth in the number of lymphocytes, the absolute content of CD3 +, CD8 +, CD19 + and CD16 + / 56 + lymphocytes, the NST test, complementary activity and circulating immune complexes of serum were determined in women of early reproductive age (p<0,05-0,001). Quantitative values of these parameters in patients of late age had an ‘intermediate' character and significantly lower values than at an early age, but did not reach the level of the control group. Conclusion. Leiomyoma in reproductive age was accompanied by intensity of cellular and humoral immunity. The immune response in patients with uterine leiomyoma was differentiated depending on the period of reproductive age and was more pronounced in patients 18-35 years of age.Цель исследования: определить изменения клинико-иммунологических показателей у пациенток с лейомиомой матки в зависимости от периода репродуктивного возраста. Дизайн исследования: когортное проспективное исследование. Цель исследования: определить изменения клинических и иммунологических показателей пациенток с лейомиомой матки в зависимости от периода репродуктивного возраста. Дизайн исследования: когортное проспективное сравнительное исследование. Материалы и методы. Проведено обследование и хирургическое лечение 220 пациенток репродуктивного возраста. Основную группу составили 190 женщин в возрасте 18-45 лет, в том числе 110 пациенток раннего (18-35 лет) и 80 - позднего репродуктивного возраста (36-45 лет). Критерии включения в основную группу: лейомиома матки и репродуктивный возраст женщины. Контрольная группа - 30 здоровых женщин в возрасте 18-45 лет с нормальной репродуктивной функцией и отсутствием гинекологических заболеваний. Результаты. Иммунологические показатели периферической крови женщин с лейомиомой матке характеризовались статистически значимым увеличением по сравнению с контрольной группой. Максимальные и достоверные значения роста относительного числа лимфоцитов, абсолютного содержания CD3+-, CD8+-, CD19+- и CD16+/56+-Лимфоцитов, НСТ-теста, комплементарной активности и циркулирующих иммунных комплексов сыворотки крови определены у женщин раннего репродуктивного возраста (р<0,05-0,001). Количественные значения данных показателей у пациенток позднего возраста имели «промежуточный» характер и достоверно меньшие значения, чем в раннем возрасте, но не достигали уровня группы контроля. Заключение. Лейомиома в репродуктивном возрасте сопровождается напряженностью клеточного и гуморального иммунитета. Иммунный ответ у больных лейомиомой матки имеет дифференцированный характер в зависимости от периода репродуктивного возраста и более выражен у пациенток 18-35 лет

    Experience of the successful treatment with canakinumab of a patient with NLPC4-associated autoinflammatory syndrome with enterocolitis

    The article shows the observation of rare NLPC4-associated autoinflammatory syndrome with enterocolitis and familial cold urticaria. Diagnosis is confirmed molecularly-genetically: previously not described mutation c.928C&gt;T in the heterozygous state in NLRC4 gene is discovered by a method of the new generation sequencing. The use of a monoclonal antibody to the interleukin 1 canakinumab provided complete relief of fever and skin and intestinal symptoms in just 1 week of treatment. Later the signs of inflammation have disappeared completely; the patient’s quality of life improved and life-threatening complications were prevented. The above example demonstrates the high clinical efficacy of canakinumab in the patient with NLRC4-associated autoinflammatory syndrome and suggests promising therapeutic use of interleukin 1 blockers in such patients. There were no adverse events during canakinumab therapy

    High Efficiency of Kanakinumabum for a Patient with a Late Diagnosed Chronic Infantile Neurological Cutaneous Articular Syndrome (CINCA)

    The article presents the monitoring of a severe course of CINCA/NOMID syndrome diagnosed at late stages. The use of monoclonal antibodies to IL 1 — kanakinumabum — in a patient with chronic neurological cutaneous and articular syndrome was successful: fever, cutaneous and pain syndromes were completely stopped, joint contractures decreased after one week of therapy. Laboratory parameters of the child’s disease activity (ESR and CRP) became normal after 8 weeks of treatment. Movements in the affected joints recovered completely after 24 weeks; the audiologist noted an improvement in hearing. The above clinical example demonstrates the high efficiency of kanakinumabum for a patient with chronic neurological cutaneous and articular syndrome, and shows the perspective of therapeutic application of IL 1 blocker for patients with CINCA syndrome including advanced stages of the disease. No adverse effects were noted during kanakinumabum therapy
