Behavior of copper oxide in silicoborate glazed glasses
Copper-containing glazed glasses in the B[2]O[5] - SiO[2] – Al[2]O[3] – CaO – CuO system with a copper oxide molar content of 5 to 25%, added during synthesis of the glasses, was investigated. The glasses with a minimum content of 15% B2O and 15 – 25% CuO crystallized during processing with separation of fine-needle CuO crystals. However, all glasses formed a good glaze coating when applied on ceramics at temperatures of 900 – 1000°C. The CuO crystals totally dissolved in the melt
Increasing the resistance of electrode glasses to fluorine-containing media
The effect of ZrO[2], P[2]O[5], and F– ions on the resistance of electrode glass to fluorine-containing media is investigated.
It is established that the most stable glasses have the minimum content of P[2]O[5] (no more than 2.5%) and molar content of ZrO[2] to 3%. It is shown that for glass electrodes whose active part consists of experimental glass the electrode should be soaked for3–7 days in a HF solution with concentration to 1000 mg/liter
Nature of color centers in silicate glasses with additions of cerium and titanium oxides
Silicate glasses with additions of cerium and titanium oxides are studied. Such glasses are of interest for manufacturing electric lights for automobile headlights and heat-stable light filters. It is established that the characteristic yellow-orange color is due to the formation chromophoric centers containing products from the interaction of cerium and titanium oxides. It is proposed on the basis of optical transmission and photoluminescence measurements as well as XPES data obtained for the composition used in light filters that titanium and cerium are present predominately as the ions Ti{4+}, Ce{3+}, and Ce{4+}
Reviewing Twenty Years of Patents on Ultrasonic-Assisted Pectin Extraction from Food and Food Waste
Received: 01.05.2024. Revised: 24.05.2024. Accepted: 24.05.2024. Available online: 04.06.2024.A total of 54 patent documents emerged between 2003 and 2023, with the greatest number occurring between 2016 and 2017.Five methods were implemented to intensify the extraction process: surfactant, enzyme, microwave, vibration, and supercritical solvents application.There is a growing interest in combining or replacing conventional extraction techniques with ultrasound assisted extraction.Using food waste as the main pectin source correlates with the current need for reducing its environmental impact.A growing number of alternative agro-industrial waste sources are being considered as possible sources of pectin because of the growing market demand. Pectin's multifunctionality stems from the nature of its molecule, which varies in its chemical structures, physicochemical characteristics, and possible uses based on the extraction methods and sources used. Green methods utilizing microwaves and ultrasound are becoming more popular, in addition to the traditional extraction of pectin, which relies on the use of acids and/or chelators. As a result, this review focuses on patents related to the extraction of pectin from food and food waste using ultrasound assisted technologies. The following patent databases were searched using International Patent Classification (IPC) codes and relevant keywords: PatFT-AppFT, Espace Patent Search, Information Retrieval System, Eurasian Patent Office Search, and Patentscope. Based on the analysis findings, which cover the years 2003 to 2023, 54 pertinent documents— the majority of which were issued in China—were chosen and categorized into multiple groups based on their objectives, methods for extraction intensification, and raw materials. According to the data, 2017 had the greatest number of patent registrations in the industry.The work was financially supported by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Russian Federation No 075-15-2023-602 (NIP TPU n 20.0060. Borosilicate Radiation Shielding Glass
The results of studies of the electrophysical and thermophysical characteristics of borosilicate glass designed to attenuate electromagnetic radiation in the microwave range are presented. The compositions of glass with the minimal tendency to crystallization are determined. The effect of the chemical composition of glass on its thermophysical (temperature coefficient of linear expansion (TCLE) and heat capacity) and electrophysical
(attenuation index, standing wave ratio, and dielectric loss tangent) properties is found. The proposed glass compositions can be recommended for the manufacturing of products used as shielding against radiation

Formation of luminescent coatings with the tse of low melting glasse
The aim of the present research is to develop compounds and technologies for applying the luminous vitrocrystalline compounds to smooth and ribbed glass substrates in LED lamp structure with a remote photoconverter that contains oxide low melting glass as the base and nanostructuredcerium-doped yttrium-aluminum garnet powder as the luminophore. The luminescent coatings basedon nanostructured cerium doped yttrium-aluminum garnet powder and low melting glass of composition Ba()-Bi,0 rB/J rKH)-SiO2 where prepared. YAG.Ce31 powder was synthesized by the method of thermochemical reaction. Silica glass powder was introduced into the composition as diffuse scattering component, improving the lighting characteristics. Spectral-luminescent characteristics of coatings were studied.
Luminescent glasses co-doped by ions of transition and rare earth metals
The present work is devoted to the synthesis and investigation of the properties of silicate glasses when the additions are in the fonn of combinations of transition and rare earth metals ions in a wide range of molar ratios in order to deternune the states of these elements in the glasses and to clarify the nature of luminescence properties are formed. The glasses under study were fabricated based on barium-alumina-silicate glass matrix and co-doped by transition and rare earth metals ions
