Measurement of the ionization yield of nuclear recoils in liquid argon at 80 and 233 keV
The energy calibration of nuclear recoil detectors is of primary importance
to rare-event experiments such as those of direct dark matter search and
coherent neutrino-nucleus scattering. In particular, such a calibration is
performed by measuring the ionization yield of nuclear recoils in liquid Ar and
Xe detection media, using neutron elastic scattering off nuclei. In the present
work, the ionization yield for nuclear recoils in liquid Ar has for the first
time been measured in the higher energy range, at 80 and 233 keV, using a
two-phase Cryogenic Avalanche Detector (CRAD) and DD neutron generator. The
ionization yield in liquid Ar at an electric field of 2.3 kV/cm amounted to
7.8+/-1.1 and 9.7+/-1.3 e-/keV at 80 and 233 keV respectively. The Jaffe model
for nuclear recoil-induced ionization, in contrast to that Thomas-Imel, can
probably consistently describe the energy dependence of the ionization yield.Comment: 6 pages, 6 figures. Fig. 6 changed. Submitted to EP
RISKS TO THE CONTINUITY OF THE INVESTMENT PROJECT IN CONSTRUCTION
The international standards and state standard specifications of the Russian Federation of business continuity management have been analyzed. Process of assessment of maturity level of the construction organization in the field of business continuity and its increase by definition of strategy, stabilization, renewal and complete recovery of activity, decrease in influence and reduction of consequences has been investigated. Modern threats to the continuity for the companies at the global level, typical risks of the investment and construction project have been considered. The best international practices of business continuity management, the plan of business continuity which can be applied at implementation of investment and construction projects, have been offered
First demonstration of THGEM/GAPD-matrix optical readout in two-phase Cryogenic Avalanche Detector in Ar
The multi-channel optical readout of a THGEM multiplier coupled to a matrix
of 3x3 Geiger-mode APDs (GAPDs) was demonstrated in a two-phase Cryogenic
Avalanche Detector (CRAD) in Ar. The GAPDs recorded THGEM-hole avalanches in
the Near Infrared (NIR). At an avalanche charge gain of 160, the yield of the
combined THGEM/GAPD-matrix multiplier amounted at ~80 photoelectrons per 20 keV
X-ray absorbed in the liquid phase. A spatial resolution of 2.5 mm (FWHM) has
been measured for the impinging X-rays. This technique has potential
applications in coherent neutrino-nucleus scattering and dark matter search
experiments.Comment: 4 pages, 6 figures. Presented at Vienna Conference of Instrumentation

TO THE QUESTION OF DIAGNOSTICS AND WAYS OF CORRECTION OF THE DIABETIC MACROVASCULAR DISEASE OF THE LOWER EXTREMITIES IN PATIENTS WITH TYPE 2 DIABETES MELLITUS
Diabetes mellitus remains one of the most pressing problems in the 21st century. The research objective was to study the level of glycotoxins and oxidation-reduction potential of a serum/cell at the complicated and uncomplicated course of diabetes mellitus type 2 was and find the ways to correct the disorder. Materials and methods. There were three groups of patients aged from 55 up to 70 years, a total of 80 people. The main group (group No. 3) was presented by 40 men suffering from a diabetes mellitus type 2 with a macrovascular disease of the lower extremities. Depending on the chosen remedy and the carried-out therapy, patients of the first group were sectioned into subgroups on 20 people, in the 2nd subgroup additionally N-acetylcysteine solution was introduced in a daily dose of 600 mg once, intravenously, within 7 days. Definition of the studied indicators was made by HPLS methods, prior to therapy, for the third and seventh day. Results. Obtained data confirm activation of polyol pathway of glucose disintegration. Antioxidant potential of the serum and cells decreases. Using N-acetylcysteini in complex therapy reduces implications of carbonyl and oxidative stresses, due to multiple decrease of the final products of glycation. Conclusions. When identifying the presented indicators in patients with diabetic macroangiopathy of the lower extremities, the administration of N-acetylcysteine, intravenously in a daily dose of 600 mg (7 days course) is recommended
