    Topological density wave states of non-zero angular momentum

    The pseudogap state of high temperature superconductors is a profound mystery. It has tantalizing evidence of a number of broken symmetry states, not necessarily conventional charge and spin density waves. Here we explore a class of more exotic density wave states characterized by topological properties observed in recently discovered topological insulators. We suggest that these rich topological density wave states deserve closer attention in not only high temperature superconductors but in other correlated electron states, as in heavy fermions.Comment: Expanded version, 7 pages, 6 figure

    Calm Child Programme: Parental programme for anxiety in children and young people with autism spectrum disorder and intellectual disabilities

The Publisher's final version can be found by following the DOI link.Children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and intellectual disabilities (IDs) are more vulnerable to experiencing anxiety disorders. Parental involvement in intervention is crucial for successful management of the interventions in the population of people with ASDs. This article describes the design and evaluation of parenting programme for anxiety disorders in children and young people with ASD and ID. In phase 1 semi-structured interviews were conducted to explore management strategies for anxiety at home and in school settings. A total of 34 participants (14 parents, 20 teachers) participated in the interviews. A Delphi process was conducted with health professionals to develop consensus on appropriate anxiety interventions. In phase 2 the intervention programme was implemented by seven parents who also participated in focus group to evaluate the developed programme. A parental programme, calm child programme (CCP), was developed, implemented and evaluated. The evaluations show significant decrease in children’s anxiety as a result of implementing the programme. This study contributes further evidence to parental involvement in interventions for children and young people with ASD and IDs.     Superconductivity in the repulsive Hubbard model: an asymptotically exact weak-coupling solution

    We study the phase diagram of the Hubbard model in the limit where U, the onsite repulsive interaction, is much smaller than the bandwidth. We present an asymptotically exact expression for Tc_c, the superconducting transition temperature, in terms of the correlation functions of the non-interacting system which is valid for arbitrary densities so long as the interactions are sufficiently small. Our strategy for computing Tc_c involves first integrating out all degrees of freedom having energy higher than an unphysical initial cutoff Ω0\Omega_0. Then, the renormalization group (RG) flows of the resulting effective action are computed and Tc_c is obtained by determining the scale below which the RG flows in the Cooper channel diverge. We prove that Tc_c is independent of Ω0\Omega_0. Using this method, we find a variety of unconventional superconducting ground states in two and three dimensional lattice systems and present explicit results for Tc_c and pairing symmetries as a function of the electron concentration.Comment: 18 pages, 17 figure

    An efficient and reproducible protocol is established for rapid in vitro multiplication of an endangered, valuable medicinal plant, Butea monosperma (Lam.) Taub. Var. lutea, through cotyledonary nodes of mature seeds. Among various cytokinins tested, high frequency of direct shoot regeneration was induced on Murashige and skoog (MS) medium supplemented with BAP, which found to be more effective and showed optimal response at 2 mg/L with a maximum number of 8.35±0.32 multiple shoots per explant. Proliferation of shoots was established by repeated subculturing on to same regeneration medium with 2-3 weeks of time interval. Rooting of regenerated shoots was achieved after 3 weeks of culture on MS medium containing 1 mg/L IBA. In vitro raised plantlets were transferred to pots containing sterilized soil and vermiculate mixture in 1:1 ratio and then shifted to greenhouse. Well established plantlets exhibited 75% survival rate

    Numerical Studies of an Array of Fluidic Diverter Actuators for Flow Control

    In this paper, we study the effect of boundary conditions on the behavior of an array of uniformly-spaced fluidic diverters with an ultimate goal to passively control their output phase. This understanding will aid in the development of advanced designs of actuators for flow control applications in turbomachinery. Computations show that a potential design is capable of generating synchronous outputs for various inlet boundary conditions if the flow inside the array is initiated from quiescence. However, when the array operation is originally asynchronous, several approaches investigated numerically demonstrate that re-synchronization of the actuators in the array is not practical since it is very sensitive to asymmetric perturbations and imperfections. Experimental verification of the insights obtained from the present study is currently being pursued
