LA VINCULACIÓN UNIVERSITARIA DESDE EL MODELO EDUCATIVO DE LA UNIVERSIDAD INTERCULTURAL MAYA DE QUINTANA ROO, MÉXICO
Este trabajo analiza los desafíos actuales de la vinculación universitaria desde los fundamentos pedagógicos del modelo educativo intercultural, propio de la Universidad Intercultural Maya de Quintana Roo (UIMQROO). En primer lugar, se exponen los fundamentos pedagógicos de la educación universitaria intercultural, desde mediados del siglo XX hasta entrado el siglo veintiuno. Enseguida se estudia la pertinencia del modelo educativo intercultural para efectuar una comunicación y vinculación incluyentes, ligada al contexto y a las comunidades; aquí mismo se describe la metodología que la UIMQROO ha seguido para ello. Finalmente, reflexiona en torno a los retos contemporáneos del modelo educativo intercultural.

The Academic Extension Activities from the education model of the Universidad Intercultural Maya de Quintana Roo (UIMQRoo), in México
Abstract: This paper provides a thorough analysis of the current challenges of the academic extension activities, based on the pedagogical principles of an intercultural education model, especially those related to the UIMQROO values. First, we present the pedagogical principles of the intercultural professional education, which have been developed from the middle of the 20th century up to now. Then, it is analyzed how likely the intercultural education model is to carry out a more inclusive communication and extension activities, according to our local social and natural environment to achieve its sustainable development. Furthermore, we describe the methodology the UIMQROO has put into action to accomplish such achievements. Finally, this paper also provides new theoretical reflections about the contemporary challenges of the intercultural education model.

A vinculação universitária a partir do modelo educativo da Universidade Intercultural Maya de Quintana Roo, México
Resumo: O presente trabalho analisa os desafios atuais da vinculação universitária a partir dos fundamentos pedagógicos do modelo educativo intercultural, próprio da Universidade Intercultural Maya de Quintana Roo (UIMQROO). Em primeiro lugar, se expõem os fundamentos pedagógicos da educação universitária intercultural, desde os meados do século XX até começos do século XXI. Em seguida se estuda a pertinência do modelo educativo intercultural para efectuar uma comunicação e ligação inclusiva, ligada ao contexto e às comunidades. Adicionalmente, se descreve a metodologia seguida pela UIMQROO para o trabalho. Finalmente, se reflexiona em torno dos desafios contemporâneos do modelo educativo intercultural.

Lessons for Research Policy and Practice: The Case of Co-enquiry Research With Rural Communities
This article explores the relationship between institutional funding for research and community-based or co-enquiry research practice. It examines the implementation of co-enquiry research in the COMBIOSERVE project, which was funded by the European Commission’s Seventh Framework Programme for research and innovation, between the years 2012 and 2015. Research partnerships between Latin American and European civil society organisations, research institutions, and Latin American rural communities are analysed. Challenges for effective collaboration in co-enquiry and lessons learned for research policy and practice are outlined. Based on our case study we suggest that: (1) the established values and practices of academia seem largely unfavourable towards alternative forms of research, such as co-enquiry; (2) the policies and administrative practices of this European Commission funding are unsuitable for adopting participatory forms of enquiry; and (3) the approach to research funding supports short engagements with communities whereas long-term collaborations are more desirable. Based on our case study, we propose more flexible funding models that support face-to-face meetings between researchers and communities from the time of proposal drafting, adaptation of research processes to local dynamics, adaptation of administrative processes to the capacities of all participants, and potential for long-term collaborations. Large-scale funding bodies such as European Commission research programmes are leaders in the evolution of research policy and practice. They have the power and the opportunity to publicly acknowledge the value of partnerships with civil society organisations and communities, actively support co-enquiry, and foment interest in innovative forms of research
Arquitectura y cronología: hacia un esquema preliminar de evolución de la ocupación en la microrregión de Río Bec

CHRONOLOGY OF THE RÍO BEC SETTLEMENT AND ARCHITECTURE
International audienceChronology is a crucial issue given the specific settlement patterns of the Río Bec region located on the northern fringe of the Maya central lowlands. Fine-resolution chronology of the local residential occupation in its many spatial and temporal forms is one of the main proxies available to reconstruct social organization and dynamics, in the absence of a nucleated center with the typical Maya political monuments usually investigated. Variability can be traced in residential morphologies and evolution that must be dated. The scope of the paper aims to describe the construction of the Río Bec chronology in its multiple dimensions, based on a diversity of methods from ceramic Type-Variety classification up to seriation of building sequences defining the evolution of the famous Río Bec architectural style. Epigraphic evidence exists, albeit limited and ambiguous. The general sequence of occupation for the targeted micro-region stretches from the Middle Preclassic to the end of the Terminal Classic period. (source éditeur

Índice de masa corporal y percepción de mujeres mayas obesas de Quintana Roo, México
Antecedentes: La preocupación por el cuerpo y las prácticas alimentarias de riesgo son dos temas que últimamente han cobrado interés entre las/os nutricionistas, pues además de observar estas características en mujeres de población urbana de diversas edades, estudios realizados en zonas rurales, con población mestiza e indígena de México, evidencian que el problema ya se presenta en mujeres pobres y marginadas. Objetivo: conocer la percepción corporal de mujeres que viven en zonas mayas de México. Métodos: El estudio tuvo dos fases: una cuantitativa, a través de la aplicación de un cuestionario y otra cualitativa que consistió en la realización de grupos focales. Se pesó y midió a mujeres en la comunidad maya de Chun-Yah en el estado de Quintana Roo y se les solicitó que eligieran una figura anatómica con la que se identificaran según su percepción. Resultados: Se obtuvo su índice de masa corporal, su percepción y su deseo por tener un determinado cuerpo. Se encuestó a 51 mujeres mayas en la primera fase quienes tuvieron un promedio de peso de 65 Kg, de estatura de 1.42 m y un IMC de 31.5 kg/m², y más de la mitad se percibieron delgadas. Durante la realización de los grupos focales se detectó una ambivalencia entre su percepción y deseo pues en la comunidad la gordura no es tan estigmatizada. Conclusiones: se discute la necesidad de realizar más estudios empíricos en poblaciones rurales y discutir categorías de análisis diferentes a las biomédicas, como medicalización, lipofobia y discurso médico
